Classic Cars and Collectible Sneakers Collide in Fort Lau...

Presented by the Fort Lauderdale Concours - It’s the new big mash-up. The luxury worlds of classic cars and collectible sneakers will collide in a unique showcase at the Fort Lauderdale Concours (FTLC) presented by Lotus. A reinvention of the traditional Concours began in 2019 when Maria Jannace launched the Rooftop Concours Series, starting with the highly successful The New York City Concours (TNYCC). The event reinvigorated established car collectors and attracted a new tribe by infusing lifestyle and pop culture elements. Jannace, a car connoisseur and avid appreciator of unique art and collectibles that represent innovative design and exceptional craftsmanship, recognized that up-and-coming sneaker collectors were a sophisticated bunch who shared those same passions. Now this intersection of cars and culture pioneered by TNYCC is making its way to South Florida and bringing its matching sneaker curation with it. FTLC has partnered with conceptual artist Matt Senna who will create an exhibit of chic kicks that will match select iconic automobiles on display. Senna, whose passion for sneakers began in his teens with Nike’s Air Jordans, sees a lot of synergy between the two communities. “There is a natural progression to expand your collections into other areas such as vintage cars and watches, you start searching for new rare pieces,” Senna explains. Known for his incredibly beautiful and authentic-looking sneaker sculptures that are hand-molded and cast using various materials including gold, bronze, fine metals, concrete, and resin, Senna will also be displaying pieces of his own artwork. He remarked, “the art and the sneakers bring a really cool aspect to a car show, it's a great way to modernize it and expand it as a cultural event. I’m thrilled to be a part of it.” The Fort Lauderdale Concours featuring a gallery of classic cars and stylish, luxury sneakers with live music, art, fashion, and cocktails on a sunset rooftop terrace is not to be missed. In fact, Vantage Motorworks, a dealership known for their exquisite and rare classic cars, will be attending the event. The event will be held on Friday, 29th October 5 pm to 10 pm in collaboration with the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and features a discounted joint ticket. 14th Annual St. Michaels Concours D'Elegance on Chesapeak...

Presented by St. Michaels Concours D'Elegance Chesapeake Bay - Out of a field of seventy exceptional automobiles came the Best Of Show, the 1936 Horch 853A Special Roadster owned by Robert Jepson, one of just seven built. Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Jaguar XK-E resulted in the 1962 Roadster of James Harris winning Best In Class, while the 1961 Coupe owned by Thomas and Elizabeth Hamann won The Gail and Henry Petronis Trophy for the Most Elegant Closed car. This particular car was one of three 1961 models used by the Jaguar factory to present the new E-Type model to the international media. The oldest entry on the field, and probably the noisiest, was the 1904 Thomas Flyer belonging to the Evergreen Collection, winner of the Pre-War American class. Every major concours should include a Duesenberg, and the Duesy at this year's St. Michaels was the 1930 Model J Convertible Sedan of the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum which won the coveted Peoples Choice Award. The red 1954 Dodge Firearrow IV concept car owned by Sonny Abagnale was one of three similar cars that toured the 1954 auto show circuit, and whose design foresaw the Dual Ghia automobile that followed.
