WannaGOFAST Builds America's First 1/2 Mile Dragstrip

Half-mile racing is one of the fastest-growing forms of motorsport. A decade ago, it began with a few cars and their friends. After 36 events, they have amassed thousands of fans & competitors. As a sponsor, you can find our latest issue at their races, and we're excited to announce that wannaGOFAST has built America's first half-mile dragstrip. It was a joint project with South Georgia Motorsports Park, as their world-class NHRA 1/4 Mile track was extended to 5,600 feet with full safety & timing upgrades. Located in Adel, it is close to Valdosta and Interstate 75. The first event is scheduled for the weekend of Feb 29-March 1st. Below is coverage of their last event, but now we have the safety of a dragstrip instead of renting a runway. We'll see you there! Wannagofast? SCG Boot Beats Ford Bronco in Epic Baja 1000 Race

During this year's Baja 1000 race, there was a big rivalry between two competitors: the Ford Bronco and Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus Boot. The original Hurst Baja Boot took on the Bronco multiple times during the 1960s in different races. Now, they're back at it again thanks to the SCG Boot and Ford Bronco R Prototype. The two trucks were in Class 2 and were the only competitors in their class. When it was all over, the Boot took the win as the Bronco did not manage to finish within 34 hours. The Boot 's completion of the race literally came down to the last minute with a time of 33:59:13.947. Like I said, down to the last literal minute of the race. Congratulations to SCG on their win. We can't wait to see more of the Boot! Photos by Boyd Jaynes

"Ferraris on the Circle" a Crowd Pleaser

More than 70 Italian exotics fill St. Armands Circle for Nov. 2 event Press Release - On Saturday, November 2, 2019, visitors to Sarasota’s St. Armands Circle were treated to a visual smorgasbord of Italian exotics at the annual ‘Ferraris on the Circle’ event. This year’s event attracted over 70 cars and included several special cars including two Ferrari 488 Pistas—the most powerful V8 in the history of Ferrari—and a La Ferrari, the marque’s stunning limited production hybrid. A percentage of the proceeds gathered from the event will go to Flight to the North Pole flighttothenorthpole.org/), a locally based charity that helps terminally ill children and their families, not only during the Christmas holidays but also year-round. This was the first year for the event under the leadership of the Sarasota Ferrari Drivers Group and co-organizers Joe Brielmann and Jurgen Otto could not have been more pleased with the turnout of both cars and spectators. “The members of the Sarasota Ferrari Drivers Group worked very hard to resurrect this famous event and bring it back to its old glory,” said Otto. “We were delighted to welcome more than 70 cars to the Circle on Saturday; next year we anticipate having more than 100 entries. We appreciate the community’s support and we’re delighted that so many people turned out to view these beautiful cars and support a worthwhile local charity.” Next up for the Sarasota Ferrari Drivers Group is its February 2020 Gala Weekend, which takes place February 28 through March 1, 2020. Organized under the banner of ‘Driving for the Dream,’ the three-day event that includes a Friday night gala dinner at Grove Restaurant, the group’s fourth annual Exotic Car Festival on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch on Saturday the 29th, and a Sunday exhibitors’ brunch and country roads drive. For information on the Gala dinner or Exotic Car Festival, contact Jurgen Otto at (941) 356-4626; ottomotorcars@gmail.com.
