SOC Classic Roars Back to Andermatt With a Stunning Mix o...

If you’re a gearhead, roads like Highway One, Route 66, and the Great Ocean Road are probably on your bucket list. But when it comes to some of the best mountain roads in particular, you can’t argue with the fact that few places can rival the drama of Switzerland. The landlocked nation certainly has a lot to offer, and for one weekend this past June, a particular ribbon of tarmac offered something most public roads don’t: total exclusivity. The iconic Furka Pass was closed to the public, but for the SOC Classic, the annual gathering hosted by the highly coveted Supercar Owner’s Circle (SOC), it was wide open and reserved exclusively for a curated convoy of automotive legends that tore through the snowcapped Alpine scenery.  Taking on everything from the ancient cobblestone Tremola to ascending the Gotthard Massif, SOC Classic returned to its spiritual home, Andermatt, for a celebration of cars, craftsmanship, and camaraderie. Held between June 27-29, the event marked the first SOC Classic since the Supercar Owners Circle was acquired by the duPont REGISTRY Group earlier this year. With global expansion on the horizon, the acquisition signals a new era for the ultra-exclusive network of car collectors, all while preserving the invite-only spirit that has defined SOC since its founding in 2014. "This event is not only a celebration of automotive passion, but a moment to reflect on our journey and look ahead with renewed energy. We are deeply grateful to our members, partners, and the Andermatt community for making this edition so meaningful." - Florian Lemberger, CEO & Co Founder, Supercar Owners Circle and COO Paolo Balladore While SOC Classic, as the name implies, centers around vintage and classic metal like the Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing, Porsche 356, air-cooled 911s (including restomods), Alfa Romeos, Lancias, and old-school Ferraris, the mix of cars that showed up this year spanned several eras. Supercars from the 1980s, 90s, and even 2000s. Modern classics, if you will.  Think Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari 512, F40, F50, Superamerica, and more. Even more modern-day exotics like the Porsche Carrera GT and a Bugatti Veyron 16.4 were in attendance. Among the standouts was a pristine 1970s 3.0 CSL with the BMW M colors, a motorsport-bred coupe that still draws admiration from old-school purists to young collectors.  But perhaps, the biggest star of the action-packed summer weekend had to be the setting itself: Andermatt. Perched high up in the Swiss Alps, it is the gateway to some of the best roads in the world, including the legendary Furka Pass. Stretching around 20 miles, through the German-speaking Canton of Uri, the Furka Pass peaks at 7,969 feet above sea level and offers dramatic views of glaciers, valleys, switchbacks, and hairpins en route. Typically only open during the warmer months of the year, June through October, the Pass is closed during the winter due to snow and the risk of avalanche. But besides the visual drama, what sets the Furka Pass apart from other great European drives like the Col de Turnini or Stelvio is the historical mystique. Bond fans among you will know that it was here in 1964 that Sean Connery drove the Aston Martin DB5, in Goldfinger, in a face-off against Tilly Masterson’s Mustang convertible. This cinematic moment put the Furka Pass on the map, and perhaps the only thing that comes close is the opening scenes from the 1969 film The Italian Job, where a vibrant orange Lamborghini Miura takes on the Great St. Bernard Pass in Italy. As for SOC Classic, many photo ops are dotted throughout out weekend for owners and collectors, including at the Andermatt Swiss House, the Oberalp Pass, the historic Gletscher-Restaurant Belvédère perched beside the Rhone Glacier, and atop the imposing Santa Maria arch dam, one of the tallest in Europe. The event culminated with SOC’s signature Gala dinner at Chedi Andermatt, where the underground garage was transformed for the private SOC event, complete with candle-lit tables, fine wine, and the cars themselves.  It’s almost ironic that Switzerland, a country where motorsport has been banned since the mid-1950s owing to the tragic Le Mans disaster in France, offers no permanent race track. But when nature itself paves the way for some of the most engaging and scenic drives on earth, perhaps no circuit can truly do justice. If this year’s SOC Classic is anything to go by, you can most certainly expect future iterations to be even more special. Stay tuned for our in-depth coverage of the 2025 Edition of SOC Classic on Petrolicious. 3 Of Formula 1’s Brightest Minds Will Join The Goodwood F...

Held annually since 1993, the Festival of Speed (FOS) has never lacked spectacle, but this July, the tree-lined drive of Goodwood House will become Formula 1’s grandest hall of fame. With the pinnacle of Motorsports celebrating 75 glorious years in 2025, the venue that plays host to the iconic hill climb event will bring together over 100 historic F1 cars and eight world champions, including the likes of Alain Prost, Mario Andretti, and Nigel Mansell. Running between July 10 and 13, the spotlight this year is on three of the most influential engineers and designers of the modern Formula 1 era: Adrian Newey, Professor Gordon Murray, and Ross Brawn.  Statistically, the most successful designer in F1 history, with 223 Grand Prix victories and 26 World Championships to his name. Newey (nearly two decades at Red Bull Racing as CTO), now the Managing and technical director at Aston Martin Formula One, is teaming up with Goodwood to curate the Innovators Class, one of six storytelling pillars of the sport at this year’s event. These categories are Prologue, Pioneers, Innovators, Underdogs, Champions, and Teams, respectively, and they aim to capture the essence of F1’s pursuit of speed, innovation, and technological advancements made over the past 75 years.  But beyond his four decades of design brilliance, Adrian will also showcase two iconic cars from his personal collection: the Lotus 49 that inspired his career and the futuristic Leyton House CG901, a car he penned during the 1990 season. As for Gordon Murray, the South African-born motorsport titan was the creative genius who came up with Brabham’s radical “Fan Car” and McLaren’s all-conquering MP4/4. His post-F1 masterpiece, the McLaren F1, which triumphed at Le Mans in 1995, is often considered one of the greatest road cars ever made and will share the space with a stunning collection of machinery from Gordon Murray Automotive, this year’s featured marque at Goodwood. Ross Brawn, a central figure behind Michael Schumacher’s dominance in F1, comes with the ultimate underdog story: the championship-winning 2009 Brawn BGP 001 piloted by Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, complete with its double-diffuser setup. Brawn also laid the foundation for Mercedes’ dominant streak in the past decade, but his influence didn’t end on track, and as F1’s recent Managing Director of Motorsport, he led a sweeping push towards modernisation. Tickets for the event are nearly sold out, Friday through Sunday, but a handful of Thursday passes are still available. If you are lucky enough to be attending in person, you won’t just witness a parade of F1 legends, but the living story of Formula 1 and some of the brightest minds that have shaped the sport. 30th Annual Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance Returns To Be...

This year, the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance, held annually on Father’s Day, will turn 30. To celebrate this milestone, on Sunday, June 15, the heart of Beverly Hills will transform into an open-air exhibition of heritage and speed. This year’s theme is ‘Luxury in Motion’, and between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, the palm-lined blocks of Rodeo Drive that are home to some of the world’s leading fashion houses and brands, will once again play host to the free-to-attend gathering of vintage classics, exotic supercars, and cutting-edge hypercars that many rarely see outside of private collections or museums. Hosted by the City of Beverly Hills and the Rodeo Drive Committee, the show’s headline display will be O’Gara Coach Beverly Hills: the event’s presenting sponsor, a dominant force on the West Coast that deals in several high-end marques. Expect to find a spectacular array of some truly stunning automobiles in unique hues and bespoke specs from the likes of McLaren, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Pagani, Bentley, and more. Making their North American public debut are two highly anticipated Lamborghinis: the all-new Temerario, Lambo’s next-gen hybrid supercar, and the Urus SE, the Italian brand’s first plug-in hybrid SUV.  Beyond the car show, you can also find a fleet of gourmet food trucks and fine dining options nearby. Interactive exhibits and a skills demo by the Beverly Hills Police Department Motor Unit round up the festivities. The event also carries a cause, with proceeds going towards supporting the Beverly Hills Police Foundation and Firefighters’ Association. A special fundraising event will be dedicated to restoring a retired 1975 Cadillac ambulance, a fitting nod to the city’s legacy of service and style.  With its blend of prestige, elegance, and high-octane thrills, the 2025 Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance is shaping up to be quite an event and a highlight this summer. If you’re in the L.A. area, this is one event that you won't want to miss. If you wish to display your pride and joy at this prestigious venue, applications to enter your vehicle are now open.  " width="680"> Here's all the action from last year's event. Red Bull's Holzhaus Energy Station Makes U.S. Debut at Th...

Red Bull's Holzhaus Energy Station to premiere at Las Vegas Grand Prix, offering a 20,000-square-foot trackside hospitality experience with exclusive amenities. As the Las Vegas Grand Prix gears up for its return to the F1 race calendar from November 16-18, it's adding an extra layer of luxury with the U.S. debut of the Red Bull Holzhaus Energy Station. This unique, alpine-inspired hospitality center has been a mainstay at European F1 races since 2017, and it's finally making its way across the pond. Designed by Austrian architect Claudio Hatz and crafted with Austrian wood specifically treated for the dry Las Vegas climate, the Holzhaus offers 20,000 square feet of hospitality space directly across from Turn 3. The two-story structure features two expansive bars on each floor, along with a chic penthouse that includes a garden area and additional seating for world-class catering. The venue, capable of accommodating 300 guests, promises an experience like no other, complete with exclusive driver appearances, live musical entertainment, and gourmet cuisine. However, the story of the Holzhaus won't end when the checkered flag drops at the Las Vegas GP. The structure will be disassembled and stored, making future appearances at U.S. Grand Prix events, festivals, and other significant gatherings across the nation. Built by a team of 14 construction workers, it takes four days to both set up and dismantle the impressive setup. Tickets for this exceptional F1 hospitality experience are currently open to the public, making it the must-see luxury addition to the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
