The Best Star Wars Cars

The Star Wars franchise has been around for decades, yet we still don't have a working Millenium Falcon or X-Wing that we can fly. All we want, space engineers, is to be able to play space Space Chess (Dejarik) while flying through the cosmos. Is that too much to ask for? Probably. So, in the meantime, we'll have to settle with Star Wars cars that were created with the movies in mind. Check them all out below! And while you can't rocket into space, you CAN fly across the pavement in supercars that we have for sale on duPontREGISTRY.com.Supercars for Sale Hot Wheels Darth Vader Car Stormtrooper Dodge Charger and Challender w/ Kylo Ren Viper 2018 Nissan Maxima – Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer Lamborghini Murcielago Star Wars Car " title="YouTube video" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen> X-Wing Carship Star Wars Porsche 2018 Nissan Rogue Poe Dameron’s X-wing with BB-8 Boba Fett Audi R8 source AT-M6 2018 Nissan Titan

McLaren 570S: 10 Facts You Need To Know

Are you looking for an affordable supercar? McLaren stunned the world with the new McLaren 570S for sale, the first example of their "Sports Series". Most enthusiasts were quick to label it as an entry-level car aimed at amateurs, but this couldn't be farther from the truth. 10. Light & Strong All McLarens are built around a one-piece carbon fiber monocoque. The first example was named the MonoCell and it was the foundation for the 12C. Innovations to improve stiffness and lower the door sills resulted in MonoCell II for the 570S. The bare chassis is only 165 lbs! Another plus is the dihedral doors that make entry and egress better than most. 9. Little Brother? Although it is their entry-level model, the 570S is actually longer and wider than the 650. Various optical illusions by the clever bodywork allow it to appear smaller than the Super Series cars. 8. Magnificent Mileage The 570S was the first McLaren to use equal length exhaust headers. This change keeps costs down when compared to tuned length pipes used on the Super Series. By using more conventional parts and a curb weight of 3,100 lbs, our dealers have reported customers getting well over 20 miles per gallon. 7. Smart Technology The first McLaren with Stop/Start technology also includes new software that should be standard on every car. It comes with a battery charger because McLaren knows you have a daily driver. It has a unique charging wave to keep the lithium-ion battery in perfect shape. I was in a hurry to move a 570S Spider at our duPont Registry Live event in Nashville last year. I unplugged the charger from the wall and laid it into the trunk while still plugged into the car. My attempts to move the car were in vain. If the car senses the charger is plugged into its port, the car will not shift out of park...This tiny line of software could be the difference between a dead battery or a car that runs over its owner. McLaren 570S Races to 212 mph on the Autobahn 6. Traditional Suspension The 12C launched with the most advanced suspension of any car. Also found under the 650 and 675, the PCC or positive chassis control replaces shocks and springs with high-pressure hydraulics just like an F1 car. No sway bars needed because the pressure from one corner is spread around the system instantly. For the 570 series, they knew buyers wanted a more traditional system. So the 570S has dual wishbones, coil springs, and magnetic shocks at each corner. Even with sway bars, it is comfy in touring mode and a grippy beast on the track. It feels more connected to the road than the upper level cars, which is fine by me. 5. Unique Body In the old days, chassis were made of metal and bodies were composite. In the curious case of the 570S, the body panels are aluminum and the chassis is carbon fiber. This must have Corvette engineers scratching their heads because McLaren has turned the automotive world upside down. Aluminum panels are much easier to repair than the carbon ones found on the Super Series cars, and they are another way the cost savings were passed to the customer. Complete Mclaren 570S Price & Specs 4. Dealer Network One of the biggest concerns in purchasing an exotic is were to find a service department. The quality of the cars speaks for itself, which has prompted McLaren dealers to spring up across the nation. McLaren Automotive doesn't have ties to any other manufacturer, so many high-end dealers have added McLaren to their lineup. A quick glance at the world's best resource for exotic cars for sale will give you an idea of how popular they have become. 3. Aftermarket Intensity McLaren's engineers think outside the box. Not only does it make for a reliable car, it has also sparked a fire in the aftermarket world. Out friends at Hypercar Development brought their triple-turbo 12C to our office and scared everyone in a 5-mile radius. The car is so intense that Michelin uses it to benchmark new rubber. 2. Race Proven Power Every modern McLaren uses a 3.8-liter twin turbo, which was bored out to 4.0 for the new 720S. Instead of designing an engine from scratch, someone remembered Nissan's LeMans cars from the 90s. They were incredibly reliable and light, so McLaren redesigned it for street use and the rest is history. 1. No Comforts Compromised If you want an exotic car that doesn't sacrifice creature comforts, the 570S has everything you need. The first McLaren with a vanity mirror also has American sized cup holders and a glove box. storage compartments in each door are perfect for small items, and they stay shut when the doors are raised. These are just a few of the interesting facts about the McLaren 570S. Click on the link to find one near you, and you will not be disappointed! Stay with us for all your McLaren updates. Heartwarming Story of Longtime duPont REGISTRY Fan

Sitting in the backseat of the car, Eason Syler, at only eight years old was on a trip to Florida to buy a car with his father. As they made their way down the road they passed a large building with the words “duPont REGISTRY” illuminated on the side. Years ago Eason would head over to his local library and catch up on what was going on in the automotive world reading our magazine each month (even if they were a few months old). Upon noticing the building he begged his dad to stop in and check the place out. Eason and his dad met the receptionist at the front desk who began to give them a tour of the cars in the museum, he remembered seeing a Mercedes SLR McLaren, a few Porsches and Hulk Hogans Dodge Viper. After spending time looking at everything, our receptionist sent Eason on his way back to Tennessee with his hands filled with duPont REGISTRY magazines and posters. A few weeks later we received a letter in the mail thanking us for letting him stop by, which included a drawing of a car. Fast forward 15 years, we received a job inquiry from a gentleman by the name of Eason Syler whose name sounded vaguely familiar. It turns out that the receptionist that gave him that tour was recently going through her desk and stumbled upon the letter and picture. We then realized after some research that Eason was the same aspiring reader who stopped by the office as a kid. With the help of Easons parents, we cooked up a plan to get him back down here for our latest Cars and Coffee. This past weekend our scheme came to fruition with Eason and his family in attendance at our monthly duPont REGISTRY Cars and Coffee event. After an hour or so we asked them to meet us at the main tent where a gentleman wearing green pants, who goes by the name of Mr. duPont appeared with a gift for Eason. We gathered around while Mr. duPont presented Eason with the letter he wrote and the drawing of the car framed and signed “Happy Motoring” by Mr. duPont himself. It’s not too often that something like this happens so we wanted to show Eason our appreciation and thank him for being a loyal reader and duPont REGISTRY fan overall!

Porsche 930: Specs, Price, Photos & Review

What has become the most beloved Porsche 911 of all time is the Porsche 930. It is the product of experimenting with turbos in the late 60s and early 70s. Their goal was to only build enough cars to homologate the racing of a Porsche 911 Turbo. Project 930 required many changes to the suspension and body that it became its own model. This will focus on the 930, which was Porsche's internal code for the turbo cars. Larger brakes and a four-speed transmission set it apart from the base Porsche 911 Carrera which had a naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six. It arrived in the US for the 1976 model with 276 horsepower. This was shocking to the industry, as pollution-choked V8s couldn't offer anything comparable. Every example came with a single large turbo, and that is why the Porsche 930 Turbo gained a reputation as the "Widowmaker." Almost all turbos have a 4-speed manual, so It took a few seconds to spin up the big turbo. Boost eventually arrived like a freight train, and it sent many professional drivers into the wall or the infield. The 1989 930 Turbo was the only one to receive a 5-speed transmission, and it actually hurt performance by allowing the car to fall out of boost between gears. Porsche 930 Turbo Cabriolet Specs: Price: $49,720 Engine: Turbo 3.0L Flat Six Horsepower: 282 hp Torque: 278 lb-ft 0-60: 4.9 seconds 1/4 Mile: 13.1 @ 109 mph That's why if you are considering a Porsche 930 for sale, it needs to be scrutinized inside and out by a reputable Porsche shop. These are old cars now, and survivors will need suspension bushings and pushrod tubes addressed. Rust is also a common issue. The rear cross member and motor mount area can be expensive to fix, so be sure to check them out. Here is the data you need to make an informed buy: A Porsche 930 for sale is a dream-find for many Porsche purists. If it is a numbers-matching condition, it is the most desired Porsche Turbo on the market. Convertibles were not popular in the '70s, but by the '80s they were back in vogue. So the Porsche 930 Cabriolet and 930 Targa were released in 1985. It was also the 80's that saw the aftermarket develop Porsche 930 twin-turbo kits. These Porsche 930 turbo kits allowed for an instant boost by eliminating turbo lag. 930 Production Numbers The first three years had 3.0-liter engines and were known just as 930 Turbo, and 2,819 cars were produced. From 1978 to 1989, the name was changed to 930 Turbo Carrera, and the engine was enlarged to 3.3 liters. As one of the fastest cars on the market, 18,7770 vehicles were built. The 3.3-liter engines were the first Porsche 911 to have intercoolers from the factory. This allowed for more boost, but it caught the eye of the US EPA. The 3.3-liter cars were never legally imported after 1979, they used the gray market to get around DC's dumb laws. Nevertheless, they made it in, and since they are over 25 years old, the government doesn't care anymore. Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe Specs: Price: $37,000 Engine: 3.0 or 3.3-liter Flat Six Horsepower: 282 Torque: 298 lb-ft 0-60: 5.5s 1/4 Mile: 13.7 @ 1.6 mph 930 Prices 1977 Carrera Turbo Coupe Retail: $30,630 1988 Carrera Turbo Cabriolet Retail: $ 85,060 You can see the jump in base prices through the years. Porsche knew their customers were willing to pay for the quality and performance. If you adjust these for inflation, you won't even come close to what they are selling for. Porsche stopped selling the 930 Turbo in the US at the end of 1979. They continued to be imported through gray-market importers, who charged a premium for the luxury. Porsche realized this was a massive error on their part and the 1988 model's retail reflects its acknowledgment of the American market's booming economy. 930 S Slantnose Racing the 930 developed many iconic body modifications, but none have been as famous as the 935 race car. To maximize aerodynamics, the nose and fenders were redesigned for high-speed tracks. They were known as "Flachbau" or flat nose. Most examples were naturally aspirated Carrera models, powered by the 3.2 engine with a 5-speed manual. The Holy Grail would be a 930S (Turbo Slantnose) Cabriolet. Here in the US, dealers and 930 owners dubbed it the Slantnose 930 S, and it was a popular upgrade in the early 80s. Porsche 930 Carrera Slantnose Specs: Horsepower: 270 Torque (lb-ft): 318 0-60 mph (seconds): 5.2 Top Speed: 139 mph 1/4 Mile: 14.5 @ 95 mph Weight (lbs): 2,668 Production: 800 Porsche realized its popularity and decided to build them in-house. Built-in limited numbers, production peaked in 1985. If you are considering a 930 Slant Nose for sale, keep in mind they were also offered by Kremer, Ruf, and other aftermarket companies. No matter who built it, they are a piece of history with a price tag to match. 930 Speedster To celebrate the anniversary of the 356 Speedster, Porsche built 2,100 examples of the 930 Speedster. Only 800 came to the US. They are turbos with all non-essential weight removed. The windshield is short and raked, and an aerodynamic decklid covers the rear seats when the top is down. The naturally aspirated 3.2 was state of the art, and it had fast numbers for an 80's car. Porsche 930 Speedster Specs: Horsepower: 215 Torque (lb-ft): 195 0-60 mph (seconds): 5.9 0-100 mph (seconds): 15.2 1/4 Mile: 14.5 @ 95 mph Weight (lbs): 2,668 Production: 800 Browse Porsche 911 For Sale

Supercar and Hypercar Rev Off: Which Sounds the Best?

One of the most important aspect of a supercar is its sound. In fact, most companies put a ton of money into the development of their cars' sound. For example, the Yamaha's musical instrument division helped develop the Lexus LFA's exhaust note.(Related - Top 5 Car Apps on the iTunes App Store)But, there is always the argument as to which car sounds the best. To try and give everyone an idea of how some of the world's most extreme supercars sound, I've compiled some revving video below, starting with the LFA. Check each of them out and vote in the poll below to see which one sounds the best. How To Decode Any Car's VIN

If you are reading this, you are probably aware that all street-legal cars have a VIN, Vehicle Identification Number. The Vehicle Identification Number is unique to each car, much like DNA or a fingerprint. After being in the industry for years, many of us can look at a VIN and instantly react with humor or sadness. This might make your significant other question your mental health, so let break down a VIN so everyone can understand.VINwiki: How To Import Your Dream CarInstead of 23 chromosomes, all modern cars have a VIN consisting of 17 characters, and it is located at the base of the windshield on the driver's side. They are also located in other locations of the car to prevent chop shops from selling stolen parts. The first character is the country of origin. The US is, of course, #1, but we've built so many cars that 4 and 5 are also USA VINs. Canada is 2, Germany is W, and England is S. The most shocking is that Japanese cars all begin with J... just kidding.First Number/Letter Examples: A-H = Africa J-R = Asia S-Z = Europe 1,4,5 = United States 2 = Canada 3A-37 = Mexico 6/7 = New Zealand or Australia 8/9 = South America Japan’s Nissan R34 GT-R Highway Patrol Car is RealHere is where it gets intense. The next two spots are the manufacturer. I've owned a dozen Camaros over the past 2 decades and I have 1G1FP87 burned into my mind. This is the beginning of any Camaro hard top performance model. V6 cars and the Camaro Berlinetta were 1G1FS87. Let's break that down. 1 is USA. G1 is GM. F is for GM's F-body (either Camaro or Firebird), and P87 was a V8 powered hardtop. The next digit would either be N or L, designating Norwood, Ohio or Los Angeles assembly plant. After that is a digit assigned by GM's Fisher Body division, a story for another day. Next comes information on the interior color, body color, and finally the car's year and its build number among all Camaros of that model year. This car is for sale downstairs, tell us what you think it is in the comments belowIf you are looking for a Range Rover, every VIN in recent history begins with SALME1548. No, it's not a reference to salami. just unfortunate luck on the part of Land Rover. SAL is the United Kingdom, Austin Leyland (which were the owners of Land Rover in the old days). ME154 denotes a 4 door, full-size Range Rover HSE, and 8 is the number of cylinders. If the next digit is a 6, it was built in 2006, and the remaining digits are color codes and the build number. If you really want to have fun with learning the language of the VIN, our friends at VINwiki have a database that will blow your mind. Don't say we didn't warn you because you will fall down a rabbit hole of automotive intrigue.Model Year Vin References: A: 1980 or 2010 B: 1981 or 2011 C: 1982 or 2012 D: 1983 or 2013 E: 1984 or 2014 F: 1985 or 2015 G: 1986 or 2016 H: 1987 or 2017 J: 1988 K: 1989 L: 1990 M: 1991 N: 1992 P: 1993 R: 1994 S: 1995 T: 1996 V: 1997 W: 1998 X: 1999 Y: 2000 1: 2001 2: 2002 3: 2003 4: 2004 5: 2005 6: 2006 7: 2007 8: 2008 9: 2009 Learn More About VINs
