duPont REGISTRY 2019 Sports Watch Guide

Corum AC-ONE 45 Chronograph Since 1960, Corum has been a leader in the yachting watch world thanks to its innovative Admiral’s watch with nautical pennants on the dial. Now, the brand unveils its newest rendition – one that offers modernity and character thanks to several important design details. The 45mm watch is crafted in titanium with the coveted dodecagonal shaped bezel – now a little more angular. The dial features a white three-dimensional “Grenadier fendu” motif that beautifully complements the black chronograph subdials for a cool and updated panda look. Since so many lovers of the Admiral AC-ONE watch still want to see the pennants, Corum discreetly adds them on the flange in muted tones. In this model, the Corum key logo resides at 12:00 on the dial. The watch is water-resistant to 100 meters and finished with a vulcanized rubber strap. USD PRICE: $9,900. VISIT CORUM-WATCHES.COM Corum AC-ONE 38 Automatic Perfectly complementing the men’s yachting watch, this all-new feminine version, the AC-ONE 38 Automatic, is also crafted in titanium with 72 round brilliant diamonds on the angular dodecagonal bezel. The CO 082 automatic movement powers the watch, which offers hours, minutes, seconds and date indication, and has a power reserve of 42 hours. The white dial boasts the brand’s unique “Grenadier fendu” pattern that is three-dimensional to offer depth and dramatic appeal. The outlined white nautical pennants on the outer flange, and the Corum key logo at 12:00 underscore the elegance of the watch. The hands and markers are in white superluminova for easy nighttime reading. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment protects the dial, and a sapphire caseback allows for viewing of the movement. The entire look is finished with a bright white rubber strap. The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters. USD PRICE: $6,800. VISIT CORUM-WATCHES.COM HYT H0 Grey Black Focusing on a decidedly neutral color palette for its newest H0 Grey Black watch, HYT unveils a black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating over the 48mm stainless steel case. The slate grey/black dial boasts a tiny hint of blue, and the fluid that flows through it to indicate the elapsed hours is rich inky black. The perforated grey rubber strap brings the look together for a sleek and stealth appeal. The box-like sapphire crystal offers a smooth and generous design appeal. Like all HYT watches, the H0 Grey Black is equipped with HYT’s exclusive patented micro-fluidic module that consists of glass capillary tubes through which two liquids (one transparent and one colored) flow to indicate the hour. This watch features C7 Super-LumiNova coating beneath the capillaries so that the wearer can see the time in the dark. It has 65 hours of power reserve thanks to the mechanical manual-wind movement. USD PRICE: $42,000. VISIT HYTWATCHES.COM HYT H1.0 Green When mechanical and fluid technologies come together – as in HYT watches – you can expect great things. The brand’s unique fluidic time concept sets it apart from anything else on the market. In this H1.0 Green watch, the design concept is more architectural, with slatted case sides and box-like sapphire crystal offering great three-dimensional appeal. The black DLC coated stainless steel case with anthracite-colored dial pops with a space-age look thanks to the bright neon green fluid that indicates the hours. The two black bellows at 6:00 are responsible for sending the green (and transparent) liquids through the glass capillaries so they can perform their function. A bright green hand at 12:00 indicates the minutes on a chapter ring and the 65-hour power reserve indicator for this exclusive manual-winding caliber is a green arc at 3:00. The watch is water resistant to 50 meters. USD PRICE: $49,000. VISIT HYTWATCHES.COM Franck Muller Vanguard Skeleton Yachting Easily a standout in the Franck Muller line up, the beloved Vanguard case offers bold and immediately identifiable appeal. The tonneau shape is modernized with blue case-side insets that refer to the stunning blue skeletonized movement. Crafted in 18-karat rose gold, the watch offers hours and minutes, as well as seconds on a ring at 6:00. That ring is further embellished with a compass rose, and the compass directions are indicated on the inner flange. The meticulously skeletonized movement is blued for dramatic appeal. The manual wind caliber consists of 175 components, each hand-finished and assembled. Thanks to a sapphire crystal and caseback, the balance wheel is visible at 12:00, and other movement parts are visible from both sides. The high efficiency escapement is developed in house at the Franck Muller workshops in Switzerland. The watch is finished with a nylon strap (hand-sewn alligator strap also available). USD PRICE: $45,000. visit franckmuller.com Franck Muller Vanguard Crazy Hours™ The innovative design and mechanical prowess of the Vanguard Crazy Hours™ watch may boggle your mind a bit, but once you wear it, you’ll be eagerly waiting for each hour to change. A single glance shows you that the highly stylized Arabic numerals for the hours are all mixed up. Going against convention, Franck Muller’s watchmakers have developed a complex self-winding movement with patented mechanism that enables the hour hand to jump around the dial to its proper partner number as each hour turns. The FM 2800 CH caliber consists of 203 components– all hand-finished–and offers 42 hours of power reserve. The bold Vanguard case and its attractive dial are crafted in brushed stainless steel. The numerals are applied by hand and the blue-stitched alligator strap is integrated into the case–eliminating case lugs. USD PRICE: $16,200. visit franckmuller.com Eberhard & Co. Tazio Nuvolari “Vanderbilt Cup Naked” With an intriguing name, this Tazio Nuvolari Vanderbilt Cup Naked watch pays tribute to several different things at once. First and foremost, of course, it honors Italian motorcycle and race car driver Tazio Nuvolari who raced in the first half of the 20th century. It further pays tribute to Vanderbilt Cup that he competed in and won on the famed Long Island track in 1936. The word “naked” refers to the fact that the sapphire caseback has a stainless steel lid covering it that can be custom engraved. The 42mm watch is crafted in stainless steel with a black dial and chronograph functions. It also offers a tachymeter scale on the outer portion of the dial to measure speed or distance. Powering the watch is a mechanical automatic chronograph movement. The chronograph is equipped with coaxial pushbuttons for easy use and the deployment clasp on the buckle, Declic®, is patented. USD PRICE: $7,330. VISIT EBERHARD-CO-WATCHES.CH Eberhard & Co. Scafograf GMT “The Black Sheep” Created in a limited edition of 500 pieces, the Scafograf GMT is offered in a bold, updated look that offers a GMT function. The name “The Black Sheep” conveys all the unconventional spirit of the model. The 43mm stainless steel watch features a DLC© (Diamond Like Carbon) coating – the strongest coating for steel. In addition to the black case, the rotating bezel features a black ceramic insert, and the dial is black. The hands, indices on the dial that mark the hours, and the numerals and markers on the bezel for the GMT indication all feature luminescent coating for easy nighttime reading. The GMT hand is in bold orange for distinguishing at a glance from the second hand. There is also a date indication at 3:00. Even the caseback is customized with a stylized hemisphere and the time zones engraved on it. Powering the watch is a mechanical automatic movement. It is water-resistant to 100 meters. Why You Should Buy A Lamborghini Huracan Performante

Have you ever wondered how two cars can go faster than one? The concept of drafting at high speeds is taking advantage of aerodynamics. Any moving object creates a low-pressure area behind it. The faster you go, the more your car is held back by the hole it punches through the air. So why not force air into this void? Lamborghini has shocked the world with an ingenious and simple solution. By taking air from high-pressure areas and sending up into a hollow rear spoiler, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante takes air that would normally hold the car back and injects it into the void. The system is named ALA for the Italian translation of Active Lamborghini Aerodynamics, and it was quickly patented. This is a real game-changer, and Ford uses a similar concept in the hollow taillights and the flying buttresses of the Ford GT. While Ford's system is passive, the Huracan Performante controls how much air is sent into the slipstream left to right also. When cornering at high speeds, there is a bias between the air emitted left to right. This holds the car to the ground and allows for clean rotation through the curve. But Lamborghini didn't just apply this system at the tail. Behind the front bumper are variable, and that ration how much air goes over or under the spoiler. Wild aerodynamic systems like this were banned by most racing classes long ago, so we're glad Lamborghini chose to revive them for us to enjoy. Thanks to the increased downforce, the suspension is 10% stiffer. But don't let that scare you, they are still the same magnetic shocks that offer a comfortable ride on the street (Strada Mode). Compared to an LP640-4 Huracan Coupe, the Performante is 88 lbs lighter thanks to forged aluminum and carbon fiber. The big V10 offers 631 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It will spend all day at 8,000 rpm, so get your helmet ready for the next track day. It lapped the 'Ring in 6.52.01, making it the fastest production car for a few weeks. Their cousins at Porsche used a home-field advantage to run 6.47 in the 911 GT2 RS. But at these power levels, who cares about 5 seconds? When the steering wheel is aimed dead ahead, your Performante instantly retracts the ALA system into low-drag mode and you accelerate like an ACME rocket. That is why you deserve one for yourself. The factory has been running 3 shifts to meet demand, so here is the Huracan Performante in 5 stunning colors. Our dealers are always ready to help you, so check these out, and we'll take care of selling your old car. Browse Lamborghini Huracan Performante For Sale

McLaren Senna: Why to Buy

It might seem foolish to start over, especially if you build high-performance cars. McLaren Cars made a comeback in 2011 with the launch of the 12C. Their first street car since 1998 was followed by the 650S and 570S, along with Spider (Convertible) versions of each. The P1 was their hybrid hypercar meant to compete with the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918. As potent as it was, the P1 still shared chassis and aerodynamic influences with their other cars. In order to build a capable successor, engineers were forced to start over. Without regard to price, they started at the ground and worked their way up. Usually, you can have downforce at the expense of drag, or features at the expense of weight. Using a 720S as a test mule, they were sent back to the drawing board to cut weight and make better use of the airflow around the car. Browse McLaren Senna For Sale What resulted looked unlike anything before or since. Each 2019 McLaren Senna for sale is worthy of its name, as Ayrton Senna was their most prolific driver. Every component of the interior adds up to 132 lbs. Instead of normal carbon fiber seats, these hollow buckets are 7 lbs with provisions for a 6-point harness. Rear fenders are 6.3 lbs, and 1mm thick. In Race mode, the hydraulic suspension instantly changes from smooth to focused, along with steering response and the electronic wastegates. If you have anxiety, this is not the car for you. The car is capable of low drag to reach 208 mph, but if you want to push it hard into a corner, the active aerodynamics can aff 1,763 lbs of downforce at 155 mph. It makes use of more carbon fiber than the F1 or P1, and it results in a curb weight of 2,886 lbs. This is easily accelerated by the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. It sends 789 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. With a power-to-weight ratio better than any other production car, it easily surpasses the P1 at the top of their lineup. Each McLaren Senna for sale needs a minimum of 300 hours to build, and only 500 examples will leave the factory. Passing an opportunity to own one is like throwing cash into a woodchipper. The price only goes up from here, so click the link above to make the Senna a centerpiece of your collection. 2020 duPont REGISTRY Exotic Car Buyers Guide

September 23rd is a Monday, and it is also the Autumnal Equinox. It signals the end of Summer for most of the world, and it has a more significant meaning for everyone at the duPont REGISTRY. The 2020 Exotic Car Buyers Guide has been completed. This magazine is the culmination of late nights, fast cars, and investigative journalism. If you want information, we are the source. Don't put your trust in Julian Assange or Edward Snowden, ever seen them behind the wheel? Since 1985, we have been the leader of the exotic car world. That is why this guide is in addition to our monthly publications. My co-conspirators include Edward Jones & Amber Harrington, as we took turns writing these reviews. I can't tell you what is inside, because a preview of reviews would spoil the mystery. We can, however, contemplate the cars on the cover. No, they are not aligned with the Pisces or Virgo, but it might be considered a treasure map. If you have made it this far, we suppose you might want to know about 2020's hottest cars. All it takes is a click of the button to get this one in the mail. It will be on newsstands and in bookstores next month, but these are literally hot off of the press. Inside you will find satire, onomatopoeia, statistics, and a sliver of a simulacrum. That's all I can share about the pages, so let's look at the cover itself. Vanderhall Carmel GT This year's top spot goes to an American 3-wheeler from Provo, Utah. Each model is based on a patented chassis of aerospace alloy. A turbocharged four-cylinder offers 194 horsepower, and the six-speed automatic can be sequentially shifted. The front suspension uses pushrods to minimize un-spring weight, and the leather interior is crafted by hand. It is legal to drive in all 50 states, with fuel economy that will keep you smiling. Why didn't Detroit think of this? learn More BRABUS 800 Limited Edition Shadow Everyone knows that BRABUS means incredible power. What you might not realize is their team of engineers is just one part of the equation. Taking artistic license with the G36, the Shadow offers 800 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. It also includes the BRABUS WIDESTAR body, composed of the latest in carbon fiber technology. Aside from the obvious, the Shadow is also a showcase of old-world leatherworking. Every square inch of the interior is covered by the finest hides. From the floor, floor mats and even the roof, no fabric can be found. Learn More Pininfarina Battista Named for their founder, Pininfarina combines their evocative Italian style with the latest in EV technology. Working with Rimac, the 120 kWh battery powers an electric motor at each wheel. Combined, they offer 1,877 horsepower and 1,696 lb-ft of torque. Let that sink in...almost 10x the torque of a 2020 Toyota Camry. If you want something an order of magnitude more powerful than your cul de sac, it is coming soon! Learn More DeTomaso P72 The next Italian on the cover signals the return of DeTomaso. Built by the same engineers behind the Apollo IE, it is a V12 and a manual transmission. Only 72 examples of the P72 will be built on a carbon fiber monocoque. The notion of a big, naturally aspirated engine and three pedals definitely caught our attention! Learn More Ferrari SF90 Stradale It is hard to believe the LaFerrari is 5 years old. Hybrid technology has advanced by almost a decade since development began. That is why Ferrari is ready to build their first series-production plug-in hybrid. A twin-turbo V8 along with a 7.9 kWh battery offers 986 horsepower and 542 lb-ft of torque. With 16 miles of electric range, the front wheels are powered by a pair of electric motors. Not only are they capable of torque vectoring, reverse gear was eliminated from the transmission. Backing up is handled by the front wheels, saving space and weight inside the gearbox. Learn More Chevrolet Corvette Stingray General Motors is taking on the world. The 2020 Corvette is the realization that front-engine cars have become overpowered. Zora Arkus-Duntov was Corvette's Chief Engineer for three decades, and he pleaded with Chevrolet to build a mid-engine supercar. The LT2 V8 is a 6.2 liter with variable valve timing and direct injection. It is the first Stingray to arrive with dry-sump oiling and without a manual transmission. In launch mode, both sides of the dual-clutch transmission are engaged, allowing it to reach 60 mph in under 3 seconds. Learn More Porsche Cayman GT4 Meanwhile, in Stuttgart, the Porsche 911 is transitioning from the 991 to the 992 chassis. This takes time, as there are nearly 40 different flavors of 911 on the menu. In order to keep the showrooms spicy, the Cayman has been treated to big power and style. The Cayman GT4 offers 414 horsepower, 309 lb-ft of torque, and a manual transmission. This all-new flat-six is just behind the cockpit, keeping this monster glued to the track. Learn More Lotus Evija Colin Chapman would be proud to see his company enter the world of electric hypercars. Working with Williams Advanced Engineering, Evija's four electric motors are powered by a 70 kWh battery. Magnesium and carbon fiber are onboard to save weight and to reach 186 mph in less than 9 seconds. The name is a translation of "Eve", so this could be the mother of a new breed of English performance. Learn More

Discover the Cover: Lamborghini Sian

For the November 2019 issue of duPont REGISTRY, the new Lamborghini Sian is gracing the cover as the star of the month. This new supercar from the Italian automotive manufacturer is their first production hybrid car. Sián translates to ‘Lightning Bolt’ in their Northern Italian dialect.
