Why the Ferrari 599 Is Becoming a Modern Collector Favorite

The Ferrari 599 series sits in a very specific moment in Maranello’s history, when the front-engined V12 grand tourer was still a flagship shift instead of today’s nostalgic throwback. Introduced in 2006 with the 599 GTB Fiorano, it succeeded the 575M Maranello and immediately reset expectations for what a front-engine Ferrari could deliver. It was a grand tourer engineered with the kind of performance and precision usually reserved for mid-engine supercars, wrapped in an elongated body that carried long-distance comfort at its core.Designed by Pininfarina in collaboration with Ferrari’s own styling team, the 599 GTB balances between a casual, spirited driver and a track monster, which still holds up today. The long hood and short rear deck preserve the classic Ferrari proportions, but it’s far more advanced than its predecessor. Massive side intakes, an aero-focused underbody, and an integrated rear spoiler all served a functional role at high speed. Inside, it maintained Ferrari’s GT philosophy, with a comfortable cabin trimmed in leather, aluminum, and optional carbon fiber, all centered around a driver-focused layout well suited for cross-country driving.Underneath, the 599 GTB is powered by a 6.0L naturally aspirated V12 derived from the Enzo, producing 612 horsepower and a character that defined Ferrari’s late-2000s era. Power is managed through either a now highly sought-after six-speed manual or the F1-style automatic gearbox before the dual-clutch era fully took over. An aluminum spaceframe chassis kept weight relatively light while offering the rigidity for track conditions, giving the 599 a dual personality that could cover miles and still deliver genuine supercar lap times when unleashed. As the platform evolved, Ferrari began to sharpen the series. The 599 HGTE (Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione) package was the first step, introducing stiffer suspension, revised tuning, and a sharper chassis. It didn’t change the personality of the car entirely, but it added precision that made the GTB feel more confident on demanding roads. Then came one of the most significant models of the era, the 599 GTO. Limited to 599 cars, it took inspiration from the exclusive 599XX track program and turned it into something far more extreme. With 661 horsepower, reduced weight, sharper aero, and transmission tuning, the GTO became the most focused expression of the 599 and a modern version of Ferrari’s historic GTO badge.Along with these special editions, Ferrari also produced several one-off and coachbuilt chassis that pushed the 599 platform further into collector territory. The 599 SA Aperta, limited to just 80 examples, reimagined the car as a front-engined V12 roadster with a shortened windshield, created to celebrate Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary. There were also bespoke commissions such as the 599 GTB China Edition, along with various Tailor-Made examples through Ferrari’s personalization programs, each adding another level of rarity to an already limited-production model line. The Ferrari 599 series shapes itself as one of the final evolutions of Ferrari’s traditional front-engine V12 GT formula before modern electronics, dual-clutch gearboxes, and hybridization found their way into production. From the standard GTB to the HGTE, GTO, and SA Aperta, the 599 defines one of the last great analog-feeling grand tourer eras from Maranello. Koenigsegg CCR Evo vs. Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano in Rolling...

Which can take on the track more deftly than the other, a supercar from a boutique Swedish manufacturer or a production beast from one of Italy's most storied marques? After a rolling start, your guess is as good as mine. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is a beautiful creation from Italy, capable of a 0-62 mph sprint in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 205 mph. Ferrari's famous V12 is housed under the hood, creating an aggressive 620 hp for drivers to play with. Its dry weight is just 3,482 pounds, and which moves quickly with 448 lb-ft of torque on tap.As for the Koenigsegg CCR Evolution, a run from 0 to 62 mph will take just 3.2 seconds. As an upgraded version of the CCR's 4.7-liter V8, the CCR Evo was tuned to create 891 bhp and 750 lb-ft of torque, all with a dry weight of 3,086 pounds. From a comparison of the numbers, one might deduce who the winner could be, but it's always important to remember the driver's abilities when making such a call. Luckily for us, we don't have to just wonder; GTBoard.com shared a video to YouTube Nov. 11 of these two taking each other on from a rolling start in two races.Check out the comparison below, then find yourself a Koenigsegg or Ferrari from our exclusive listings.Koenigseggs For Sale  599 GTB Fioranos For Sale (via YouTube) See More Koenigsegg News

Extreme Shooting and Donuts in a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta

When trap or skeet shooting at a shooting range, your feet are placed on the ground and your body stationary. Why? Because it's terribly hard and dangerous to shoot clay pigeons if you're, say, doing donuts in a Ferrari 599 SA Aperta.Of course, this means someone on the internet has gone out, hopped in one of Ferrari's most exclusive models ever created and actually shot clay pigeons from a 599 SA Aperta while doing donuts. The person behind the gun? Philip Thorrold - one of the world's top shooters and a professional shooting coach. He clearly has experience in the matter. In the video found below, uploaded Oct. 6, we see Thorrold sitting passenger in a 599 SA Aperta, shooting at clay pigeons being launched into the air. He is, of course, a professional and this stunt looks to be performed in a controlled environment. What I'm saying is don't try this at home. This exclusive Ferrari model was revealed back at the 2010 Paris Motor Show as the convertible version of the 6.0-liter V12-powered 599. Before it even hit showroom floors, the car was already sold out. It generated quite a bit of buzz back in 2010 and there were many factors that contributed to its rise.First of all, Ferrari only created 80 examples of the car, making it more exclusive than almost any other model they've created. In fact, this makes the 599 SA Aperta even more exclusive than the LaFerrari, which Ferrari created 499 examples of. Secondly, this model was created to celebrate designers Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, hence the "SA" in the model's name. Now, the 599 SA Aperta is surging in popularity. For instance, Bonhams is rolling one example across the auction block at their October 9 Knokke-Heist event and it's expected to go for anywhere between $900,000 to $1.3 million. Can't make it out to the auction? Don't worry, because we actually have two examples of the 599 SA Aperta listed on duPontREGISTRY.com. Ferrari 599 SA Aperta at Ferrari Newport Beach

From 2006 to 2012, the Ferrari 599 GTB reigned supreme as the marque's premier V12 Grand Turismo Berlinetta. To make sure it had timeless styling, the graceful silhouette was penned by the automotive artists at Pininfarina.Only a handful made it to the US, and they are rarely seen in public. That’s why we jump out of our chairs when our dealers list them for sale. This pristine example with just 841 miles was ordered with a carbon fiber roof panel along with many white interior accents. If you have room in your collection, this is your opportunity to own a piece of history. Ferrari FXX-K, 599XX & FXX Revving Battle

If you have headphones, check the volume levels before hitting play on this video - if they're too high, you might have some hearing damage. The Ferrari FXX, 599XX and FXX-K are arguably some of the most powerful and impressive vehicles to come from the Italian manufacturer, and that's not to mention how exclusive they are. As part of the marque's Corse Clienti program, you can "own" one of these vehicles, but they are kept at the Maranello headquarters and can only be driven during scheduled Corse Clienti days. And when those days happen, the noise of these engines draws quite the crowd.WorldSupercars was at one of the most recent events, camera in hand, and captured a few photos and minutes of footage, posted to Facebook July 5 and YouTube July 6, of the three XX monsters warming up their engines together. They're all impressive cars, but your eyes just linger on the FXX-K; it looks like its ready to rip your head off, and it sounds like it is, too. "Sadly I had no earplugs," describes the video's caption, "And so my ears were bleeding at the end."It's the stuff of both dreams and nightmares in one package.Hit the video above to see it for yourself, and find a slightly toned down but still immensely powerful Ferrari for yourself from our exclusive listings.Ferraris For Sale(Source: Facebook, YouTube via Carbuzz) See More Ferrari News

The 599 GTO: A Road-Going V12 Racecar

Every year we hear how smaller turbocharged V8 engines will make the V12 obsolete. Ferrari’s F12berlinetta represents the state of the art for naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder power, but its predecessor was just as refined. The Ferrari 599XXFor the ultimate track-only version, they raised the rev-limiter to 9,000 rpm to make 720 hp. The 599XX debuted in 2009, and is not street legal. Many of the body panels were fashioned from race-weight carbon fiber, and many luxuries were deleted in the name of performance. The public demanded a street-legal version, which became the 2011 599 GTO.The motoring world was shocked at the performance when it lapped the Fiorano test circuit one second faster than the Enzo. Just 599 were built, with only approximately 125 making to the US. The fastest street legal Ferrari to date is also among the most sought after. Not simply an engine upgrade, the brakes are carbon ceramic and the transmission shift times were reduced to a blistering 60 ms. While the 599XX had 720 hp, to meet emissions requirements, power was dialed back to a modest 670 hp. This allowed 62 mph to arrive in only 3.35 seconds. To celebrate the long history of Ferrari and the Pininfarina families, the 599 SA Aperta was a convertible using the GTO’s powertrain. Only 80 cars were built.(See Also: Ferrari Estimated to be Valued at $11 Billion for IPO)If you need more information, Ferrari has detailed pages on each model on their Past Models pages.
