2016 Ferrari LaFerrari 7

By Edward Jones –  October 25, 2021

Vinaccia 2016 Ferrari LaFerrari - RM Sotheby's London 2021

Presented by RM Sotheby's - Perhaps more than any other automaker, Ferrari has a tradition of building limited-production supercars that push the envelope of performance and design, while enriching the manufacturer’s cachet. From the competition-intended 288 GTO of the mid-1980s, through the 40th anniversary F40 model, the F50, and the Enzo, these cars have served heritage commemorative purposes while reinforcing Maranello’s identity as a boutique company that builds nothing less than the finest money can buy. By the early 2010s, this notion was challenged by a new breed of hybrid-electric hypercars being produced by other manufacturers, most notably the Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren P1. Relying on the spirit of competition that had served it so well on the track for 65 years, Ferrari duly met this challenge with yet another limited-production supercar, one that would dwarf its predecessors in power, technology, and scope. Unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Salon, the new model was simply called LaFerrari—literally “The Ferrari.” When the performance numbers and build approach were eventually dissected by the media and enthusiasts, it was difficult to argue with the model’s boastful name. The heart of LaFerrari is a rear-placed, 6.3-liter V-12 that was directly lifted from the developmental FXX model. With an absurd compression ratio of 13.5:1 the V-12 develops 789 hp, redlining at a whopping 9,250 rpm. The 516 ft-lb of torque arrive relatively high, just shy of 7,000 rpm. So an electric motor derived from the company’s F1 car KERS technology was installed in the rear, adding 161 hp, most of which is tapped for use at lower rpms. Power is routed directly to the rear axle alone, and shifting is accommodated by a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle. In total, the two engines combine for a head-spinning 949 hp and 663 ft lb of torque, propelling the slippery LaFerrari to 60 mph from standstill in as little as 2.4 seconds. The quarter-mile arrives in 9.7 seconds at 149.2 mph, besting both the Porsche 918 and the Bugatti Veyron. As Road & Track writer Larry Webster noted after his test, “It’s closer to driving an LMP car than, say, a 458 Speciale.” The LaFerrari’s carbon fiber tub is baked alongside those of the Scuderia Ferrari’s Formula 1 cars, and the hypercar’s entire architecture is based around the driver’s seating position, which is 2.4 inches lower than that of the Enzo. This was achieved, ironically, by removing the seat. That is to say the LaFerrari’s seats are little more than Alcantara-swathed pads that are directly attached to the floor and rear firewall. Accordingly, the pedals are adjustable and the “seat” is custom-padded for each individual buyer. Ferrari’s in-house designer Flavio Manzoni penned the coachwork, which is beautifully low-slung and sleek while eschewing the brutal and somewhat controversial styling of the Enzo. In order to control all the power on tap, the body was adorned with a host of electronically deployed active aerodynamic elements, including smart front and rear undercarriage panels, and a rear spoiler, which manage to continuously attenuate downforce from between 200 and 800 pds. Mammoth cross-drilled and vented Brembo carbon ceramic disc brakes and proprietary Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires complete the technical profile, keeping the LaFerrari as grounded as possible through screaming switchbacks. Concluding production in January 2016, the manufacture of the closed variant of the LaFerrari was capped at 499 examples, lending the model the degree of exclusivity expected of a top-shelf Maranello hypercar. Officially retailing for over $1.3 million, all 499 cars were purchased by preferred clients before the first LaFerrari was even complete. Road & Track's Webster was amazed at the hypercar’s versatility, and its grit at the limit. “The LaFerrari…was surprisingly docile at low speeds…There’s a lot of talk nowadays about how civilized sports car have become how modern tire and electronic systems have insulated drivers…The LaFerrari stands that notion on end…It demands a style that’s both aggressive and delicate. An amazing amount of speed is available to even modestly skilled drivers…but only the truly skilled can deploy all it offers…Take the LaFerrari where it wants to go…and the fangs come out. And that’s exactly how it should be.” This incredibly well presented LaFerrari benefits from a life of doting care under just two ownerships while experiencing very minimal driving use. Distributed in 2016 to the authorized Ferrari dealer Niki Hasler for customer delivery, the LaFerrari was purchased new by a respected marque collector based in Switzerland, and it was specified with a bespoke paint and interior combination that was used on this example alone. The exterior was finished in Vinaccia while the interior was upholstered in specially ordered Pelle Chiodi Di Garofano, replicating colors used on two of the owner’s significant historic Ferraris. The front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser were all finished in satin black. Further options included five-spoke forged alloy wheels painted in grigio, an automatic suspension lifter, nero-finished brake calipers, Ferrari track telemetry, track inner cams kit, embossed Prancing Horse logos on the headrests, an integrated audio system, F150 plaque on the steering wheel, rosso button surrounds to the center bridge, and Topaz self-healing paint protection film on the entire exterior. Retained by the original owner for a year or two, the LaFerrari was later acquired by the consignor, who imported the car to the United Kingdom with VAT and duties paid, and first registered it in May 2018. Since then the Ferrari has lived a quiet life of controlled storage, and the odometer currently displays just 918 miles. Among its rare public appearances, the LaFerrari was presented once at a supercar day at Stoner Park. Accompanied by a full set of color-matched luggage, a toolkit, and owner’s manuals, the LaFerrari is documented with a full service history conducted by the authorized dealers Niki Hasler in Switzerland, and Maranello Concessionaires in the UK. The uniquely finished and rarely driven berlinetta awaits its next caretaker, offering prodigious power and advanced technological function. It should find a warm welcome at marque events and major Concours d’Elegance worldwide, or it may be quietly admired for its brilliance as Maranello’s most highly developed hypercar, an eminent example of the Ferrari. This vehicle will be offered at RM Sotheby’s 15th annual London auction on 6 November, taking place at Waterloo Place and online at rmsothebys.com. Recent Sale of Ultra-Rare Ferrari Enzo Shows Strong Inter...

As far as modern-day hypercars go, there is no denying that the 2003 Ferrari Enzo is one of the most important. From its F1-inspired nose to its naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter V12, everything about this Italian hypercar is built to perform. While only 400 Enzos left the production line between 2002 and 2004, only a handful featured the now-infamous Rosso Scuderia exterior finish, the color of choice for some of Ferrari’s most famous F1 cars. Add in the fact that this particular car has covered only 353 miles since new and you get a recipe for a record-breaking sale. Image: Legendary Motorcar Company / Zach Brehl Image: Legendary Motorcar Company / Zach Brehl While the Ferrari Enzo’s formula might seem quite common when compared to other modern hypercars, it was revolutionary back in the early 2000s. It all starts with the car's F1-derived styling, which is clearly seen thanks to the triangular nose upfront. However, the Enzo went beyond what F1 regulations allowed at the time by adding components such as active aero, and traction control.  Powering this hypercar is a naturally-aspirated 6.0-liter V12 developing 651 hp and 485 lb-ft of torque. All of that power went to the rear wheels exclusively via a six-speed automated manual transmission called the F1. Thanks to its carbon-fiber body, the Enzo weighed in at just 3,260 lb with a footprint of 185 in long, 80 in wide, and 45 in tall, a sizable increase over its predecessor, the F50.  " width="680"> While these elements already make the Ferrari Enzo quite desirable, the particular car we’re discussing today goes a step further. That’s because it features a unique Rosso Scuderia exterior finish, making it one of few to ever leave Maranello wearing this color. At the time of writing it is believed that this is the only Enzo to feature this color currently residing in the U.S. Other owners of this unique combination include Michael Schumacher, Jean Todt, and even Pope John Francis II.  In terms of this exact car, a recent private sale saw it trade hands for $3.8 million, setting a record for the Enzo market. This enormous value was also driven by the fact that with 353 miles on the clock, it is one of the lowest-mileage Enzos left in the world. Image: Legendary Motorcar Company / Zach Brehl According to Hammer Price, the last time an Enzo finished in Rosso Scuderia sold at auction, it brought in over $6 million. However, it is worth noting that it was the last example ever produced, previously owned by Pope John Paul II. As a result, this recent sale at $3.8 million sets the tone as one of the most expensive Enzos ever sold from the original 399-unit production run.  As these cars continue to age, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find these ultra-low-mileage examples. As a result, we shouldn’t be surprised if this steep appreciation trend continues. If you’d like to keep track of these values moving forward, Hammer Price offers up a unique platform that provides auction results in real-time. Ferrari 812 Superfast Price, Specs, Photos, & Review

Ferrari 812 Superfast Review The release of this car fits perfectly in Ferrari’s timeline because 70 years ago to the year that the 812 Superfast was released, the iconic automaker released the 125 S. This iconic automobile was a V12 automobile that would start the Prancing Horse’s history. Ferrari has once again created another beautiful V12-powered vehicle that takes our breath away in more ways than one. With beauty, grace, and an enormous amount of power, the 812 Superfast delivers on so many fronts. This rear-wheeled drive, front-engine grand tourer is a successor to the F12berlinetta and succeeds in taking the formula to the next level. If the name “Superfast” sounds familiar to you, that’s probably because of the 500 Superfast, which was produced from 1964-66. These models were supposed to don the name “Superamerica,” a name we’re quite familiar with but was changed to Superfast before all was said and done. Ferrari has once again brought the Superfast name back to life with the 812 Superfast and it's most definitely worthy of the historic name. Let's take a look at how 70 years changed the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast specs. This review will cover the technical highlights and the design of Ferrari's Flagship. Ferrari Portofino: Lighter & Stronger Ferrari 812 Superfast Engine Underneath the hood is where the Ferrari 812 Superfast specs come to life with a massive 6.5-liter V12 engine that’s capable of 789 hp and 529 lb-ft of torque. With these specs, this new Italian becomes the most powerful car featuring a V12 that Ferrari has ever created. Ferrari notes that this was made possible in part “by adopting a 350-bar (5,000 psi) direct injection system for the very first time on a high-performance engine, and pairing it with variable geometry intake tracts conceptually derived from those of naturally-aspirated F1 engines.” Mated to this engine is a dual-clutch transmission. With 80 percent of its power available at just 3.500 rpm, you don't need to wind it up to have fun. The Ferrari 812 Superfast engine can rocket you from 0 to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Italians use metric standards for testing their engines, so the 812 Superfast has 819 horsepower. What’s more, the Ferrari 812 superfast top speed is 211 mph. This is “the most powerful and fastest Ferrari in the marque’s history.” Of course, this notion does not include the LaFerrari. For handling, the Ferrari 812 Superfast specs include 4-wheel Electronic Power Steering (EPS) for the first time. With the addition of EPS, the 812 Superfast can use its V12 to its fullest potential when being pushed hard around a track. Also aiding in the car’s handling is the latest version of the automaker’s Side Slip Control and, for the first time, the Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 system to control rear steering. As a true successor to the F12berlinetta, the Ferrari 812 Superfast specs exceed expectations in just about every department. 2018 FERRARI 812 SUPERFAST SPECS Price: $335,275 Engine: 6.5-liter V12 Horsepower: 789 Torque: 529 lb-ft 0-60: 2.8 seconds Top Speed: 211+ mph Transmission: 7-speed dual-clutch Ferrari 812 Superfast MSRP The Ferrari 812 Superfast price is set at $315,000. This is assuming you want cloth seats and no options whatsoever. So far, the most popular upgrades we've seen are the optional seats from the LaFerrari, Ferrari's Telemetry Package, and of course, leather. All these upgrades and options may increase the Ferrari 812 price, but they are absolutely worth every bit. Carbon fiber exterior accents and custom colors from the Tailor Made department. The 812 Superfast cost is more attractive than many other flagships from the competition. Ferrari 812 Superfast Interior Everything inside the 812 Superfast specs far exceeds those of its predecessors. One of the best aspects of the interior is the controls for the handling and stability systems are easier to manipulate.  Beyond race is a notch that turns off every system. Controls for the climate and audio are much cleaner, and the optional passenger display showcases data from multiple sensors. The center console remains tall to allow the torque tube to send power to the rear-mounted transmission. Heat and sound insulation are much improved because the new engine generates much more flow than its predecessors. Voice control has been upgraded to distinguish your commands over the screaming V12, we wish more cars were this easy to use. Ferrari 812 Superfast Design Critics were quick to call the 812 a fancy refresh of its predecessor, but this is not the case. They both share the same general shape because Ferrari says this is the most efficient way to offer a front-mounted V12 with 2 seats and rear-wheel drive. Drag was reduced by adding vents next to the headlights. These work to force air under the body and also along the rocker panels to keep you glued to the ground. Active aerodynamics in the rear diffuser is controlled by the stability system. You won't find a Pininfarina badge anywhere because the Ferrari 812 Superfast specs came from Centro Stile, Ferrari's corporate headquarters. The taillights are a modern interpretation of the 365 GTB/4, a design that is timeless for Ferrari's faithful. Having so much downforce, the suspension is under immense pressure to lower down and camber in. But each shock has twin magnetic coils to make allow it to keep proper geometry under pressure. Ferrari 812 Superfast Standout Features One of the best Ferrari 812 Superfast specs is the ample cargo room. Even if you don't opt for the matched luggage, you have more than enough space for a weekend or food run. Another great feature is careful attention to weight distribution. The big V12 is mounted behind the front wheels to push 53% of the weight to the rear wheels. The Pirelli tires are 275mm wide up front and 315 on the rear. This allows for perfect rotation through the corners. It is also Ferrari's 2nd car to have standard rear-wheel steering. It is known as Virtual Wheelbase 2.0, and it operates with or against the front wheels depending on speed and driving mode. View Ferrari 812 Superfast for Sale " width="680">
