2010-2015 Ferrari 458 Italia: Price, Specs & Photos

Not everyone needs or wants a V12 engine. Some of us are content with a V8, as long as the car is extraordinary. The Ferrari 458 is one such machine. It proudly wore the Scuderia Shield from 2010 to 2015 with a 4.5 liter V8 between the cockpit and the rear wheels. It was the evolution of a concept that began with the 360 Modena. Ferrari 458 Challenge: Not Civilized A partnership between Maranello and engineers at Aloca developed a revolutionary aluminum space frame. If you are considering a pre-owned Ferrari, here is why the 458 Italia should be your first consideration. The 360 and F430 series proved the worthiness of the frame, with improvements on each model before the Ferrari 458 Italia specs appeared. Both of those cars use timing belts that must be changed at regular intervals. Reliability is a major reason why you should buy a 458.  458 Italia Engine: 4.5 liters Dual Overhead Cams 4 Valves Per Cylinder 562 Horsepower & 398 lb-ft of torque The 458 Italia represents the swan song for Ferrari's naturally aspirated V8. Cars like the 488 GTB have smaller engines with twin turbos, but nothing beats the sound of 9,000 rpm a few inches behind your ears. The 4.5 liter V8 uses timing chains, and it has proven to be incredibly reliable. Once buyers got their hands on them, their friends must have been jealous. That's because Ferrari built no less than 18,000 examples. 458 Italia Specs: 2 Seat Coupe or Convertible (Spider) 3,274 lbs 0-60: 3.9 seconds 13 mpg city/17 mpg highway Top Speed: 199 mph A Ferrari 458 Italia is an ideal way to own an Italian car. It was the last Ferrari to be styled by Pininfarina, and they chose to walk away at the top of their game. It looks, sounds, and performs like nothing else on the road. If you are still on the fence, check out these 458 Italia facts.  As with all great Ferraris, the recipe was proven on race tracks around the world. Factory teams allowed the world's best drivers to compete in the 458 Challenge cars, Lessons learned allowed for the 458 Speciale to be a proper farewell to the series. Ferrari Roma Unveiled to Crowd in Rome

The new Ferrari Roma made its debut during an event in Rome's Stadio dei Marmi. Ferrari says this new model is a "contemporary reinterpretation of the carefree lifestyle of 1950s and '60s Rome, from which it takes its evocative name, Roma." Acting as the inspiration for the Roma are the classic Ferrari mid-front-engined grand tourers, like the 250 Berlinetta lusso and 250 GT 2+2. Being a modern car, unlike the 250s of old, the Roma is filled with modern technologies. A great new bit of technology is the rear spoiler that's integrated into the rear screen, allowing the Ferrari to maintain its sleek appearance when retracted. Pricing and a release date for the Ferrari Roma have not been announced as of yet, but you can definitely contact your local Ferrari dealer for more information. SEE ALL FERRARIS FOR SALE

Meet the New Ferrari Roma

During a client event, the new Ferrari Roma was unveiled. This new model is a mid-front-engined 2+ coupe and Ferrari says its "harmonious lines, timeless elegance and cutting-edge technology set new standards in the category." Powering the new Ferrari is a turbocharged V8 engine. Unlike the rest of the V8's in this award-winning engine's family, it has 611 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque and can spin up to 7,500 rpm. Mated to this engine is the new 8-speed DCT gearbox that made its debut in the SF90 Stradale. The Roma's powertrain can launch it from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4-seconds and 0 to 124 mph in 9.3 seconds. Ferrari also notes that it can hit a top speed of 199 mph. SEE ALL FERRARIS FOR SALE

Ferrari Patents New Efficient V12 Engine

Just because your 812 Superfast makes incredible power, it doesn't need to do so at the expense of your wallet. While Lamborghini has added hybrid power to their new Sian flagship, Ferrari has patented a new efficient V12 engine. Hats Off to Motor1 for keeping a keen eye on the Patent Office, because they were camped out & waiting. To summarize what Ferrari is planning, each cylinder will have a tiny combustion chamber with its own spark plug sitting above the main chamber. The tiny one will allow for much less fuel used in many situations, and it helps accelerate the flame expansion into the main chamber. While this idea is brilliant, it was actually invented by a Japanese Genius named Soichiro Honda. He used it to power the Civic and Accord from 1971 to 1983 when the complex carbureted system was replaced by fuel injection. Ferrari has not infringed on Mr. Honda's invention because he did it without computers or injectors. What we are looking at will keep the V12 engine viable well into the future, just imagine what will happen when it receives a hybrid system! Kudos to Ferrari for keeping the naturally aspirated V12 alive, and stay with us for all your Ferrari news. Find Your Ferrari Here
