The Ferrari 12Cilindri marks a new chapter for the legendary Prancing Horse, reimagining a cherished formula that is nothing short of central to the manufacturer’s approach to automotive excellence by combining a new, futuristic design language with its classic use of a front-mounted V12 engine and rear-wheel drive. Through Ferrari’s iconic Tailor Made customization program, the 12Cilindri itself has been reimagined, with Ferrari unveiling a Tailor Made 12Cilindri for the South Korean market that combines art, culture, and excellent design with the best in Italian grand touring.
The stunning configuration emerged as a collaboration between myriad creative forces from across the globe, like Korean artists Dahye Jeong, Hyunhee Kim, GRAYCODE, jiiiiin, and TaeHyun Lee, Ferrari’s own Styleing Center, and the independent publication COOL HUNTING. Korean tradition, specifically Celadon ceramics, inspired the custom transitioning Yoonseul paint color, along with the modern aspects of Korea today, like the K-pop music scene and the vibrancy of Seoul.
Dahye Jeong is a 2022 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize-winning artist, and her iconic horsehair weaving work is reimagined in the fabric of the Tailor Made 12Cilindri’s seats, floor, and soft surfaces. Meanwhile, Hyunhee Kim’s award-winning artistry in creating Korean wedding trousseaus is referenced in the Scuderia shields of the car, and in many other touches throughout. TaeHyun Lee is known for combining contemporary art with traditional Korean techniques like lacquer, which inspired the white brake calipers and shift paddles of the Tailor Made 12Cilindri. GRAYCODE, jiiiiin, a performance artist duo known for working with sound, music, and technology, visualized the sound of the V12 engine and incorporated it in the bodywork, creating a subtle yet captivating livery.
The creatives behind COOL HUNTING, Evan Orensten and Josh Rubin, coordinated the artists’ work, resulting in a stunning bespoke reimagination of Ferrari’s latest flagship V12 grand touring vehicle, inspired by current automotive excellence, cutting-edge engineering, design, and technology, and cherished traditions, both in Korean art and culture and in Ferrari’s own history.
