Forbidden Fruit: 996.2 Porsche 911 GT3 RS With Rare Blue Accents Listed for Sale

The 996 generation of the Porsche 911 still carries a complicated reputation among enthusiasts. It introduced water cooling to the 911 and arrived with the controversial fried-egg headlights, two characteristics that have long influenced values of more common 996 variants. Those concerns matter considerably less with cars like this 2004 Porsche 911 GT3 RS listed by Graham Rahal Performance. What makes the 996.2 GT3 particularly noteworthy is that Porsche never officially imported or federalized the 996 GT3 RS for the United States, meaning examples that reached the country earlier relied on federal exemptions such as Show or Display. The 25-year import rule will eventually remove those restrictions for individual cars, with a 2004 example reaching that threshold in 2029. The car’s rarity is further enhanced by its color and graphics. Every production 996 GT3 RS left the factory in Carrara White, with the graphics, wheels, and accents finished in either red or blue. This particular example wears the scarcer of the two factory looks with the blue accents. Porsche never released an official color breakdown, but enthusiast registries estimate red outnumbered blue by roughly two to one, which would put the blue cars near 227 examples of the 682 units produced worldwide. The blue theme runs deep on this car, across the GT3 RS side graphics, the 10-spoke lightweight wheels, the seatbelts on the Recaro bucket seats, and the badging, all set against red brake calipers and the fixed carbon rear wing. <- Gallery -> Inside, the car keeps the classic five-pod instrument cluster with the tachometer front and center, exactly as a driver-focused Porsche of this era should. The Recaro buckets, the exposed roll cage, and the metal shifter for the six-speed leave no doubt about the car's intent. This is a stripped, mechanical, analog machine from the last era before electronic aids began filtering the experience. The 996 GT3 RS holds a distinction the later generations cannot claim outright. Introduced in 2003, it was Porsche's first modern GT3 RS, developed under Andreas Preuninger, the man enthusiasts know as ‘Mr. GT3,’ and it exists to homologate the 911 GT3 RSR for international GT racing. That singular racing purpose shaped nearly every decision about the car. It received a carbon-fiber hood and rear wing, a polycarbonate rear window, deleted sound insulation, a roll cage, and revised suspension geometry, all to shed weight and sharpen response. Power comes from Porsche's naturally aspirated 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six, which produces 381 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque. A close-ratio six-speed manual transmission works alongside a lighter single-mass flywheel, giving the engine a more immediate response. Performance figures include a 4.4-second sprint from 0-60 mph and a 190-mph top speed, while curb weight sits at approximately 2,998 pounds. With just 10,283 miles, this example combines the 996 GT3 RS's homologation roots with one of its less common factory color treatments. Its Mezger flat-six, six-speed manual transmission, lightweight construction, and competition-focused cabin capture the mechanical character that defined Porsche's earliest modern Rennsport models. 1-of-150 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute Edition For Sale

Designed with the purpose of delivering a driving experience that resembles a factory race car, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS has continued its dominance on and off the track with eight evolving generations. While the GT3 RS' body style, technology, and performance have significantly changed since Porsche debuted the first (996) 911 GT3 RS in 2003, the popularity and value of every generation is on the rise amongst passionate purists and collectors. Porsche has entered a whole new realm of performance with the current (992) 911 GT3 RS, incorporating state-of-the-art aero technology from Formula 1 racing. The team at Graham Rahal Performance is excited to present the exclusive opportunity to own this ultra-rare 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute Edition.Announced shortly after the reveal of the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS, the "Tribute To Carrera RS" package was introduced as a limited-production version that celebrates Porsche's motorsport heritage. The special edition Porsche comes finished from the factory in a head-turning gloss white and bright Python Green race livery, specifically honoring the classic 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7. Every air duct, louver, and diffuser works in unison to channel air for cooling and downforce, making the already lightweight GT3 RS even more powerful and agile. Paint-matched Python Green magnesium wheels provide surface traction for the long straights, while carbon ceramic brakes supply the stopping power for corners. The most noticeable detail on the new GT3 RS is a massive swan-neck rear wing that features active DRS (drag reduction system) for faster overtakes.Inside the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute Edition, passengers are welcomed by a simplistic, driver-centric cabin layered in black leather and Alcantara with matching Python Green contrast stitching. Carbon fiber sports bucket seats add safety and security for high-speed runs and competitive track days, an option included on all GT3 RS models since its conception. The Alcantara sports steering wheel comes with various levels of adjustment, from the suspension to a traction control setting with 7 different positions. You may not use the 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS for everyday errands, as Porsche has eliminated the front cargo area in favor of aerodynamics, and the standard-featured Weissach Package on the Tribute Edition comes with a fire extinguisher and room for an racetrack-compliant roll cage. The 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS is powered by a 4.0L flat-six engine that delivers 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque. While other performance-focused Porsche cars and SUVs rely on assistance from forced induction, the GT3 RS has and will remain a naturally aspirated platform. Without the option for three pedals, Porsche pairs the GT3 RS with a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. It rockets from 0 to 60 mph in just about 3.2 seconds, with a top speed that reaches approximately 197 mph. 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS: Own Porsche's Ultimate Driver's Car

The letters “RS” represent a hallowed designation in the world of Porsche: standing for “Renn Sport,” which translates to “race sport” in English, RS signifies a car that is designed as purely for the track as it can be while remaining street legal, which is exactly the case for the new 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Its engine boasts 518 horsepower, which is an unfathomable increase of 16 horsepower that Porsche’s engineers squeezed out of the GT3’s already incredible naturally-aspirated flat-6 engine. In addition, the active aerodynamics including the immense swan-neck wing on the car are more advanced than ever, allowing for unprecedented track performance including a sub-7-minute lap time on the Nürburgring and the production car lap record being broken at Road America. It’s a revolutionary performance car and one that makes for a perfect addition to any exotic car collection. While sourcing a 2023 Porsche 992 911 GT3 RS for sale can be difficult, duPont REGISTRY is the place to look. The GT3 RS is more powerful than the GT3, and in addition, it’s more ruthlessly built for the track, meaning more effective aerodynamics, lighter weight, and more carefully crafted dynamics. What’s the Tribute to Carrera RS Package? It’s a special appearance package for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Only available in the United States, it features graphics and colors that echo the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7, a historic 911 that birthed the legacy of the RS designation, as well as the iconic ducktail spoiler and the track-focused 911 ethos. How does the Porsche 911 GT3 RS compare to other supercars? When stacked against its rivals, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a formidable competitor. Its naturally-aspirated engine is a rarity in a world of turbocharging, which gives it a distinct sound and linear power delivery. While it might not have as much power on paper as its hybrid, turbocharged supercar peers, its lightweight construction, advanced dynamics, and consistent torque delivery allow it to keep up with many more powerful cars on the track. While other supercars might offer more outright power or more exotic materials, the GT3 RS is known for its holistic approach to performance, emphasizing driver engagement and feel. One of its greatest advantages is its driver’s car ethos and dedication to preserving the heritage of traditional sports car driving joy. When you factor in its rich racing heritage and the expert engineering from Porsche, it stands as a benchmark in the world of high-performance sports cars. Whether you're comparing lap times, reliability, or the pure driving experience, the 911 GT3 RS is always a part of the conversation. Can I finance a Porsche 911 GT3 RS? Yes!
