McLaren Speedtail #85

By Khris Bharath –  July 09, 2025

Ultra-low Mile McLaren Speedtail With $250k In MSO Option...

This August, one of McLaren Automotive’s most spectacular creations to date will cross the auction block at the Monterey Car Week. This is Number 85 of just 106 McLaren Speedtails ever built, and with just 71 miles on the odometer, it is estimated to fetch anywhere between $1.5 million $2 million at RM Sotheby’s. Commissioned through McLaren’s elite Special Operations (MSO) division, this 2020 Speedtail #85 is especially desirable, not only for its low mileage and incredible specification, but also for its long list of rare options amounting to ~$248,000. Finished in a bespoke hue called Fresno Valentina Violet. Serving as a contrast to the exterior, it features a Vintage Full Tan aniline leather in the cabin, covering everything from the headliner to the door sills. Matching stitching and launch-pattern quilting add to the opulence of this build, with $125,000 just in interior options. #85 McLaren Speedtail #85 McLaren Speedtail Interior Now onto those rare aforementioned MSO options: Magnetite and polished Zircon trim, titanium highlights, carbon speed covers over the front wheels, and black 10-spoke lightweight alloys. Even the exhaust is finished in stealthy titanium and seamlessly blends into the rear diffuser. After initial delivery, in February 2021 to McLaren Scottsdale, the owner commissioned a gloss carbon-fiber MSO Roof Scoop, a $112,000 upgrade installed post-delivery. The original flat roof is still included. Now the Speedtail is the third member of McLaren’s elite Ultimate Series, joining the P1 and Senna, but unlike its siblings, it isn’t chasing lap times at the race track. Instead, it’s aimed squarely at achieving the highest possible speed with maximum comfort. The Speedtail is a Hyper-GT, a term that McLaren coined to describe this car’s unique place in automotive history. Beneath its slippery and elongated teardrop-shaped carbon-fiber skin, reminiscent of Longtail (LT) models and a super-low Cd of just 0.278 (most EVs hover between 0.20-0.25), lies one of McLaren’s most ambitious drivetrains to date: a hybrid setup pairing a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric motorior developed using the company’s Formula E tech. The combined output is an astonishing 1,036 horsepower. #85 of 106 McLaren Speedtail #85 with doors open That’s enough to launch the Speedtail to 186 mph in just 12.8 seconds, with a top speed of 250 mph. Dry weight is just 3,305 pounds. When you’re ready to hit those numbers, you can engage Velocity Mode. This lowers the suspension by 1.4 inches, retracts the digital side-view cameras, and reconfigures the active aerodynamics to slice through the air with exceptional efficiency. Now the 250 mph top speed makes it the Speedtail, the fastest McLaren, period, but something even faster is in the works as we speak. Like the legendary Gordon Murray-designed McLaren F1 that inspired it, the Speedtail features a three-seat layout with the driver positioned in the center with room for two more passengers, and combines nostalgia with futurism. As for the #85 Speetail, all servicing and inspections have been carried out at McLaren dealerships in Scottsdale and Newport Beach. It is eligible for U.S. road use under the “Show or Display” exemption and offers impeccable provenance for collectors and comes with factory luggage, a charger, a body cover, and a factory tool kit. Last of Legends: Why Mansour Ojjeh’s McLaren Road Car Col...

The late Mansour Ojjeh was many things – visionary, industrialist, connoisseur – but above all, he was a man whose passion for automobiles and motorsport helped shape the modern performance landscape. Now, his unparalleled personal collection of 20 McLaren road cars is being offered for sale by UK-based luxury dealer Tom Hartley Jnr Ltd.  For collectors and enthusiasts alike, this is far more than a transactional moment – it's the rare opportunity to acquire a historic McLaren collection curated by the man who helped make the McLaren F1 a reality. A Legacy Rooted in Racing and Innovation Born in 1952, Ojjeh was the son of Saudi-naturalized Syrian businessman Akram Ojjeh, founder of the TAG Group (Techniques d’Avant Garde). With a French mother and a cosmopolitan upbringing spanning Europe and the United States, Mansour Ojjeh developed an international perspective from an early age. After graduating from Menlo College and earning a master’s degree from Santa Clara University, he joined TAG and began forging his own legacy. His early car collection included icons like the Lamborghini Countach and Rolls-Royce Corniche, eventually maturing into Ferrari royalty with models like the 250 California Spyder and 288 GTO. But it was a visit to the 1978 Monaco Grand Prix that shifted his automotive interest from personal passion to professional ambition. After sponsoring the Williams F1 team between 1979 and 1982, Ojjeh's vision diverged from that of team principal Frank Williams—particularly regarding his desire to build the ultimate road-going supercar. That divergence led to his decision to invest in McLaren, forever changing the trajectory of Formula 1 and high-performance road cars. The TAG-Porsche Power Play Ojjeh acquired a stake in McLaren in 1984 for a reported $5 million. This investment helped launch a new golden era for the team. With backing from TAG, McLaren developed turbocharged Porsche-built V6 engines, leading to three Formula 1 Drivers’ Championships and two Constructors’ titles between 1984 and 1987. Ojjeh also acquired Swiss watchmaker Heuer in 1985, rebranding it as TAG Heuer, which later sold to LVMH for $740 million. Still, his dream of producing an uncompromised supercar remained. That vision began to take shape in 1988, after McLaren had lost a perfect F1 season at Monza. In a now-legendary moment at the airport, Ojjeh, Ron Dennis, Creighton Brown, and Gordon Murray conceptualized what would become the McLaren F1. Murray sketched the car on the spot: a lightweight three-seater with a central driving position, a BMW V12 engine, and a carbon-fiber monocoque – the first in a production car. The result was historic. The GTR version of the McLaren F1 went on to Le Mans outright in 1995, and another variant set a top speed record of 240.1 mph in 1998, becoming the fastest road car of its era and one of the most iconic supercars ever built. Curating a McLaren Masterpiece Ojjeh’s personal McLaren F1 journey began with chassis 036, finished in pale blue metallic with a blue Alcantara interior. He later replaced it with chassis 075, the final standard production F1 that originally belonged to his brother, and painted in a bespoke color inspired by Château d’Yquem. The hue became known as "Mansour Orange", renamed by McLaren in his honor and unavailable to anyone else. When McLaren Automotive launched its road car division in 2010, Ojjeh set about building what is widely regarded as the most complete private McLaren road car collection ever assembled. Highlights include: ● F1 ● MP4-12C ● P1 GTR ● Speedtail ● Senna ● Elva ● Sabre ● Multiple Longtail and Le Mans variants Each car was ordered with a final chassis number and factory specifications. All remain in delivery-mile condition, except the F1 and P1 GTR. Under Ojjeh’s instruction, McLaren itself maintained the fleet – an honor granted to no other collector. More Than a Collector Ojjeh’s influence extended far beyond garage walls. As a co-owner and board member, he helped guide McLaren to seven Formula 1 Constructors’ and 10 Drivers’ Championships. He also played a key role in the founding of McLaren Applied Technologies, further reinforcing the brand’s status as a performance innovator. Despite his business acumen, Ojjeh was known for his loyalty, humility, and passion. When he passed away in 2021, tributes poured in from across the global motorsport and luxury communities. Now, four years later, his widow, Kathy Ojjeh, shares her thoughts on the sale: “McLaren meant so much to Mansour. It was more than business, it was pure passion and it was in that vein that he curated this unique collection of McLaren road cars. The ‘Last of Legends’ car collection is a treasure for our family – a reminder of the hours we witnessed Mansour designing each car to his specifications. He had an unusual talent for detail that stuns and impresses, a talent driven by the very passion he nurtured for so many years with McLaren. Parting with this very personal collection is not easy, but it is time for it to go to its new custodian, one who truly ‘gets it’ and will cherish owning and caring for it the way Mansour did.” A Rare Opportunity for Collectors This is more than just a McLaren collection for sale – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to acquire a curated set of rare, factory-spec supercars from a man who lived the brand from pit lane to production line. Each vehicle reflects the vision of someone who wasn’t just a benefactor to McLaren, but a co-architect of its greatest triumphs. For those who understand the nuance of provenance, rarity, and passion, this collection is a rolling tribute to Ojjeh’s lasting legacy in luxury performance and motorsport history. Stunning 1-of-1 PTS Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach For Sale ...

All supercars are fast, some supercars are rare, but few enjoy the provenance and exclusivity of being called a true one-off, and the car we’re looking at today certainly fits that description rather well. This is a paint-to-sample 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder, one of just 162 U.S.-spec examples equipped with the track-focused, weight-saving Weissach Package, currently being offered by Chicago Motor Cars.  While the Porsche 918 is already pretty special, being part of the Holy Trinity club of hybrid hypercars that also includes the McLaren P1 and the Ferrari La Ferrari, this bespoke spec of this particular example makes it even more collectible.  While it features all the advanced tech and performance of the standard 918, the car features nearly $30k in optional extras, which include things like the front axle lift system, and acid green highlights on the seatbelts, piping, and brake calipers. While acid green is Porsche’s signature shade reserved for all its e-hybrid models, the grey black with Guards’ red color combination is a nod to the Porsche 997.2 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, with the Mezger-powered sports car, widely considered one of the last 911s of all time. Underneath, the 918 retains one of the most sophisticated powertrains of modern times. A naturally-aspirated 4.6-liter V8 derived from the Porsche RS Spyder LMP2 race car, which revs to a staggering 9,150 rpm. Throw in two electric motors (one on each axle) means you have all-wheel drive, and the result is 887 horsepower and 944 pound-feet of torque. 0-60 mph is brisk at 2.5 seconds, with the top speed rated at 211 mph, and a Nürburgring time of under seven minutes. All this in a supercar that offers 12 miles of all-electric range and an impressive 67 MPGe. But it's the Weissach Package that truly brings even more exclusivity. The optional $84,000 (when new) high-performance track-focused package shaves 90 pounds off the standard 918’s curb weight of 3,690 pounds by employing lightweight components like magnesium center-lock wheels, titanium components, and extensive use of carbon fiber on the removable roof panels, spoiler, mirrors, and the windshield frame. To further improve aerodynamics, a new rear diffuser, along with additional aero blades in the rear bumper, has been used.  In the cabin, besides the green accents for the custom tailoring courtesy of Porsche’s Sounderwunsh (Special Wishes) division, the Weissach Package also brings lightweight Alcantara and even more carbon fiber on the dash, the doors, and the seats. This particular car also features the optional high-end Burmester audio system. The original MSRP of this car when new was $962,160, but these days, 918s command big money for being one of the all-time-great Porsche halo cars. As for this particular car with its one-off PTS color and long list of optional extras, expect to pay a significant premium. To find out more about the exact mileage, the exact cost of the optional equipment, and the asking price, check out the listing below. View Listing Images: Chicago Motor Cars

#001 of 40 Track-Only Bugatti Bolide Set for Auction Debu...

What happens when Bugatti’s engineers are given free will and freedom to build a car that doesn’t have to comply with road regulations or have to worry about creature comforts, where only the sky is the limit? Well, you end up with one of the most extreme track-only hypercars of modern times, the Bugatti Bolide.  Conceived as a no-compromise tribute to speed and downforce, the Bugatti Bolide answers a question that few have dared to ask: what if Chiron were remagined solely for the race track? Now, the very first example off the line, chassis #001, is heading to auction at the upcoming Gooding & Company’s Pebble Beach Sale next month in August at the Monterey Car Week. Finished in a stunning shade of French Racing Blue with Nocturne Black carbon accents with the Bolide’s signature X design elements, this example, delivered to teamcjworks in Texas, has just 389 miles on the odometer and represents the first customer-delivered Bolide.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by Team CJ Works (@teamcjworks) Originally revealed as a design study during the pandemic in 2020, the Bolide, as previously mentioned, was meant to explore the limits of Bugatti’s capabilities, completely free from street-legal constraints. Public interest in the concept was so overwhelming that Bugatti eventually decided to build a limited run of production cars. Launched at Le Mans in 2023, each car is tailored to its owner for track domination, and all units were subsequently spoken for with prices hovering around $4.8 million. This particular example (chassis #001) is now estimated to fetch ~$6 million. Coming to the specifications, the Bolide features Bugatti’s legendary 8.0-liter W16 engine that saw action from the original record-breaking Veyron 16.4 to the Mistral Roadster. In this application, the quad-turbo engine underwent racetrack optimizations, including beefed-up turbos and a more robust lubrication system to withstand sustained loads and higher temperatures seen in racing.  It is tuned to deliver 1,600 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. With a dry weight of just 3,086 pounds, the Bolide can hit 62 mph in just 2.2 seconds. While the concept had a claimed top speed over 310 mph, the production version was limited to 236 mph. With the ability to produce nearly three tonnes of downforce at speed and equipped with massive carbon ceramic brakes, capable of bringing the car to a complete stop from 186 mph in just six seconds, the Bolide truly is a master class in motorsport-inspired engineering and aerodynamics.  With only 40 examples ever built, bidding is expected to be fierce when the hammer drops on August 15–16 for one of the most collectible Bugattis in history. For Sale: Best Sports Cars Under $100k

In 2025, it is true that $100,000 won’t get you that far in the supercar world, unless, of course, you’re looking at the pre-owned market. It is hard to believe that a decade ago, that figure could get you deep into premium territory, with cars including the 911, AMG V8s, and even lightly optioned Italian exotics. Today, even a base Carrera 992.2 hovers around $130k, before options. So we can all agree that the sports car landscape has shifted, and with everything from supply chain disruptions to inflation and tariffs, it has only driven prices north. Having said that, there’s thankfully still a healthy dose of brand-new and lightly used enthusiast cars that can be had for under 100 grand, and they’re better than ever. From nimble coupes to mid-ships and more, you can still snag some genuinely cool rides, without breaking that six-figure ceiling, and we’ve gathered some of the best ones to consider in this list. View All Cars On Sale For $100,000 Mazda Miata You can’t talk sports cars and not bring up the Miata or the MX5, as it's known elsewhere. Mazda’s iconic roadster dates back to 1989, and it was born with one purpose. To revive the lightweight sports car formula of old British roadsters of the 1950s and ‘60s. Even Jay Leno has one. Four generations on and the current Miata (ND) has stayed true to its roots to this day.  With just 181 horsepower from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the focus is on a lightweight chassis (under 2,400 pounds) with superior dynamics rather than brute force. In 2025, the Miata remains unmatched for pure analog driving as it offers 50:50 weight distribution, razor-sharp steering, a six-speed manual transmission, and most crucially, value, as prices start under $30k. View All Mazda Miatas For Sale Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ Born out of a rare Toyota-Subaru alliance, the first-gen 86/BRZ duo debuted back in 2012, with one mission: to make driving fun again. Things like the lightweight body, rear wheel drive, and perfect balance, quickly earned the pair, a cult status among enthusiasts. Its popularity led to a second generation in 2022, bigger, meaner, and more powerful.  For 2025, both the GR86 and BRZ continue to remain some of the purest sports cars for under $35k, besides the aforementioned Miata. No turbos, no trickery. Just a punchier 228 horsepower from a 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated boxer four, paired to a six-speed manual gearbox. As starter performance cars, both are still respected, seasoned drivers, and there’s plenty of aftermarket support and track-ready potential that you can tap into. View All Toyota GR86 For Sale View All Subaru BRZ For Sale Nissan Z Nissan’s Z lineage stretches all the way back to the Datsun 240Z from 1969. Affordable, yet stylish, the OG Z challenged European sports cars from the time. Over the decades, the Z Series has evolved, going from turbocharged beats of the 1980s to dominating the JDM tuner scene in the ‘90s and early 2000s. Picking up where the old 370Z left off, the ‘Z’ moniker received a modern reboot in 2023.  For 2025, the ‘Z’ continues to double down on both value and performance. With 400 horsepower from a 3.0-liter V6, a six-speed manual transmission, and rear wheel drive, all at a starting MSRP, just over $40k, the Z remains one of the last surviving old-school sports cars in the digital age. View All Nissan Zs For Sale Toyota Supra Just like the Z, the Supra too has a strong following going back decades, most notably for the MK4 and the PlayStation and fast and furious generation of the late 1990s, early 2000s. But when the nameplate made a comeback in 2019, with BMW underpinnings, it wasn’t without controversy, and purists grumbled.  Having said that, the new-gen GR Supra still packs all the right ingredients, including a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo (B58) with 382 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and a trusty 8-speed ZF box. Now in 2025, the latest GR Supra has matured into a serious track toy, and with the six-speed manual joining the lineup in 2023, the Supra was finally able to win over skeptics. Also, with an aftermarket tune and upgrades like downpipes and turbos, and can easily extract anywhere between 500 and 600 horsepower. The range starts at $57k for the 2026 model year, and as Japan’s answer to the Porsche Cayman, it offers a combination of sports car precision and real-world livability that comes with a Toyota badge. View All Toyota Supras For Sale BMW Z4 The Z4 has worn many hats since it first debuted all the way back in 2002. Building upon the Z3 that came before it, this low-slung Bavarian front-engine rear wheel drive sportscar with its long hood and stuby back, can trace its lineage back to the classic 507. While the third-gen Z4 that debuted in 2018 was co-developed and shares its bones with the aforementioned GR Supra, it differs in character.  Where the Supra is strictly a coupe, the current 2025 BMW Z4 is only available as a Roadster, ditching the folding hardtop of its predecessor. While the base model packs a humble 2.0-liter four-cylinder, with 255 horsepower on tap, the one you want is the higher-spec Z4 M40i variant that packs the same 3.0-liter inline-six turbo (B58) with 382 horsepower, paired to a six-speed manual and rear wheel drive. At $66k, it does carry a premium over the Supra, but they don’t call it badge engineering for no reason, and with the Z4, you get the open-top experience. View All BMW Z4s For Sale BMW M2 From the outset, the compact M2 and the 1M coupe, before it, have been thoroughbred cars for the purists out there. Big, powerful engine upfront, a short wheelbase,e manual gearbox in the middle, and rear-wheel drive out back. Launched in 2016, there were things about this format that should remind you of the OG E30 M3. While it has gained more power and is sharper to drive, the M2 has become a lot bulkier. Nonetheless, the 2-door coupe remains pretty raw, for what is BMW M division’s entry-level car. For 2025, the M2 is one of the last M cars standing. With 473 horsepower from its more potent 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline six (S58), paired to a six-speed manual and rear wheel drive, the M2, starting at just over $68,k offers a great blend of everyday usability and something you can track on the weekends. View All BMW M2s For Sale Chevrolet Corvette C8 Chevy rewrote the Corvette rulebook when it introduced the C8 back in 2020. While the mid-engine format finally came to fruition under the storied badge on the eighth-gen ‘Vette, this is something that the model’s chief architect, Zora Arkus Duntov, envisioned as early as the 1950s. In the five years since the C8 was launched, the lineup has continued to evolve with new body styles and variants like the Z06, e-Ray, and, more recently, the Z1X, all joining the entry-level Stingray. While the Corvette has gracefully embraced the supercar format with its mid-ship layout, one thing that it shares with its predecessors is the ability to offer exceptional performance both in terms of handling and dynamics, at an attainable price. The base C8 Stingray is no exception, and with its 6.2-liter V8 and 490 horsepower, you’re looking at a near 200 mph performance machine at a starting MSRP under $70k. View All Chevrolet Corvettes For Sale Porsche Boxster The Boxster began life in the mid-1990s as an entry-level model, to take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz SLK and the Porsche Boxster. But crucially, it remains one of the most important Porsche models, as the success of the Boxster and the Cayenne that came in the early 200swasre pivotal in saving the German brand from going bankrupt. While early 987 models had their challenges, the subsequent 981, 982, and the current 718 generation built upon the mid-engine roadster format with an expanding lineup of engines and trims In the three decades since, the Boxster has carved out a niche for itself as a dependable and practical sports car. In 2025, though, making the case for a Boxster is more important than ever, as an all-electric replacement is on its way. Depending on demand, though, Porsche could still hang on to the gas-powered model. The range starts at $75k for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, with 300 horsepower. For six-cylinder power, you’ll have to look at the $100K GTS 4.0 that packs a 4.0-liter and 394 horsepower. Whichever model you choose, a six-speed manual is available. View All Porsche Boxsters For Sale Porsche Cayman The Cayman essentially being the Coupe sibling of the Boxster, expect more of the same, but with a stiffer, lighter, and more focused setup. Since its launch in 2005, the Cayman has long lived in the shadow of the 911, but ask any Porschephile and they’d tell you that the Cayman offers a genuinely sharp, balanced, and involving chassis.  For 2025, the lineup is pretty much identical to that of the Boxster but a tad bit cheaper across the four trims. Once again, the turbo-fours starting at $73k offer plenty of poke for the money, but for naturally-aspirated goodness, you’ll have to look at the 4.0-liter six-cylinder GTS variant, and with the coupe’s dynamics, you’re getting access to the GT3 heart, this side of a 100 grand. View All Porsche Caymans For Sale Lotus Emira The Emira marks a turning point for the Lotus brand. As the last gas-powered model from the British sports car maker that built its reputation for featherweight engineering and simple design. In our Emira review, we found that the Emira carries through the ethos of founder Colin Chapman’s philosophy of lighter is better, tipping the scales at just over 3,100 pounds. Launched in 2022, the Emira builds upon models like the equally compact Evora, Exige, and Elise and is the last hurrah before the brand steadily makes its shift toward all-electric models. For 2025, the Emira is already a collector favorite with its mid-engine balance, exotic looks, and a manual option. From some angles, it almost looks like a Baby McLaren, which is no bad thing. Compared to its predecessors, the Emira is also a vast improvement when it comes to build quality and creature comforts in the cabin. Starting at a shy under $100k, the Emira, with its supercar styling and an analog feel, is a fitting send-off to Lotus’ internal combustion engine era. While the AMG-sourced, 2.0-liter four can still be very entertaining, it's the 3.5-liter V6 with 400 horsepower that you want, as it is the only way to get the 6-speed manual. For Sale: Best Supercars Under $100k

It’s sometimes hard to believe that just over a decade ago, spending $100,000 offered significant buying power for many brand-new luxury cars and high-performance sports cars. However, the market outlook for new cars remains volatile and uncertain in the post-pandemic era, and with Trump’s recent tariffs impacting car imports. While $100,000 can still get you into some impressive brand-new luxury or high-performance rides today, the range of options, particularly for top-tier models, may be more limited than in the past. For some context, even an entry-level (992.2) Porsche 911 Carrera now costs around $128k. This is before markups, options, and even longer waiting times. But if you don’t mind going down the used car route, a $100k remains a sweet spot, and you can still get your hands on some highly desirable automobiles, including supercars. Technological advancements, complex hybrid systems, driver aids, and the sheer number of screens in modern vehicles may sometimes feel like they’re diluting the onboard experience. This is even more true when it comes to enthusiast and performance models, but the same can’t be said about cars from the 1990s and 2000s. These analog cars were legends in their own time, offering up experiences that are becoming increasingly rare to find.  Most of these pre-owned gems have already taken their biggest depreciation hit, and many models, especially manual transmission variants or limited edition cars, are bottoming out and in some cases even starting to appreciate. So buy wisely and maintain it properly, and you might just find that your $100,000 automotive indulgence holds its value far better than anything rolling off the production line today. You stand to gain from the thrill, the pedigree, and potentially, a sound investment. A white classic 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI for sale, with blue accents and a Montana license plate, is parked on an open lot with grass and buildings in the background—this legend can outrun a Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0.

This 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI For Sale Can Outrun A Porsche 9...

This is a 1974 Porsche Carrera 2.7 MFI, and it's unlike any other. Why? Well, it’s not just because it was once displayed for 14 long years across German museums or because it features the rare factory air conditioning. It’s because this particular example, chassis #911 460 0561, has been reengineered, reimagined, and restored with obsessive attention and painstaking detail into the best version that it can possibly be by its current owner.  Porsche built roughly 1,030 Euro-market 2.7 MFI coupes in 1974, powered by, as the name suggests, a mechanical fuel injection (MFI) flat-six engine, as the legendary 1973 race-bred Carrera RS. However, none of these cars made it Stateside, as they couldn’t pass America’s then newly implemented strict emissions and safety regulations. Now, though, U.S. law allows importations of pre-1980s-MFIs, making cars like #561 eligible. Author Ryan Snodgras, in his definitive book about the Carrera 2.7, estimates that fewer than 450 units of the ‘74 MFIs still exist, making #561 rare. #561’s Extensive Restoration Beyond Reproach The current owner, a seasoned vintage Porsche racer, purchased the car in 2008, and it was eventually imported from Germany in 2015 and registered in the state of Montana. This Grand Prix White over black example spent 14 years on display in two museums. But life indoors still won’t preserve components like bushings, wiring, or internal seals, and upon purchasing it, the owner embarked on a full-scale revival.  The stock engine had decent compression, but the 2.7-liter flat six was overhauled and rebuilt from the ground up in Germany by renowned Carrera Cup Mechanics, Karl Hloch Jr. & Sr. They upgraded the unit to Mahle 2.8 pistons, special head studs, along with a full case line honing.  The oil cooler was cleaned and subsequently pressure checked, while the new gas lines were also installed. Asse Brothers’ out of Costa Mesa in California calibrated the final rally tune while adjusting the professionally rebuilt original 019 MFI Bosch mechanical fuel injection pump. The exhaust system is ceramic-coated Porsche gray, with a NOS muffler and an SSI performance header, good for an extra 10-12 horsepower over the stock car’s 210 output. Finally, the transmission was also rebuilt to match.  The end result, according to Snodgrass’s own dyno charts, this car can now outrun a 3.0 ‘75 Porsche 911 Turbo with a top speed of 165 mph. The Turbo tops out at 155 mph. Track proven Pirelli CN36s tires mean #561 can shave two seconds a lap, at Laguna Seca. Beyond the oily bits, Swiss-spec Bilstein gas shocks have replaced the original Konis where whereas the brakes have been redone with NOS Porsche rotors, replated calipers, and Ferodo pads. Even the clutch has been upgraded with a 917-style aluminium pressure plate. Keeping It Period Correct Outside, #561 has been repainted in the original Grand Prix white paint at McClusky’s, the same shop that has also worked on some of Singer’s $500k 911s, along with re-anodized black exterior trim. Singer’s vendors also worked on the color matching of blue lettering decals and fuchs-style rims. The rear deck features an original fiberglass-wrapped aluminium ducktail, but the car also comes with its“whaletail”, and had to be used for its registration in Germany. Inside, the cabin features 3.0 Recaros with Kightwatch wool inserts added in 1975. The carpets and vinyl door panels were corrected with NOS Euro MFI-specific materials sourced and installed by Tony’s Autobahn in the United States.  The aforementioned factory A/C system was reengineered with zero visible modifications by D&S Air in Costa Mesa, providing modern cooling. Finally, the, concours legal, Porsche VINTAGE Media Center Radio is paired with hidden JBL/Cobra speakers and Nav, adds modern audio and conveniences like hands-free calling. A Classic Performance 911 With Provenance The owner’s goal with this car has always been about competing in long-distance Vintage rally driving events like the Copperstate 1000, the California Mille Miglia, and even the Tour Auto in France or Spain. But #561 has barely stretched its legs since rebirth. The car has passed the German TUV inspection and carries a Certificate of Origin, a Porsche option letter, and matching numbers across the chassis, engine, and transmission. The original steering wheel, tool kit, and electric tire pump are all included. A comparable example fetched $434,000 at RM Sotheby’s back in 2023. As for #561, having received $46,000 in upgrades alone, from some of the best in the industry, it is now a Concours-ready machine but commands a price that is a lot less than the example sold at RM. To find out how much less and to take a closer look at all of the extensive modifications carried out, check out the listing below. View 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 MFI For Sale
