2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R Receives GT500 Upgrades

The latest & Greatest Shelby Mustang has had us waiting for years. For the sake of brevity, we're combining the pertinent information into one post. Last week Ford announced the 760 horsepower GT500 is capable of supercar performance. It is able to run 0-100-0 mph in 10.6 thanks to uninterpreted power from the Tremec 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It can shift in 130ms. This makes it the fastest shifting Mustang so far, although Chevrolet claims the C8 can shift in half that time. Moving on to today's news, the extended development of the new car has allowed the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R to receive GT500 upgrades. Lessons learned on the track have led to a new front suspension. Not optional on the base GT350, the GT350R has new hubs, tie-rods, and steering geometry. by moving the tie-rods further away from the wheel's centerline, it gives the electric steering rack more mechanical advantage and feedback. PROTIP: Every C2 and C3 Corvette had this option, with dual holes for the tie rods on each spindle. Why can't all cars be like this? You can change your steering from Grandma to Grand Am in minutes. Not to be left out, the GT350 receives two new colors: Iconic Silver and Red Hot Metallic. They are available to order now, along with the GT500. Ford Mustang55 Anniversary Edition Unveiled in Germany

You can't deny the looks and power of the latest Mustang GT. With world-class build quality and the classic 5.0L V8, it enjoys popularity around the world. Europe accounts for a large chunk of Ford's sales, so that's why they are getting two unique versions. In a press release this morning we learned that the Ford Mustang55 Anniversary Edition was unveiled in Germany. To celebrate the car's 55th birthday, the car has a unique exterior, graphics, and an optional rear spoiler. Because the European Union taxes are based on engine size, the 4-cylinder Mustang also gets a few upgrades. The 2.3L EcoBoost cars now have styling inspired by the Shelby Mustangs, and the active exhaust is now standard equipment. New colors include Twister Orange, Grabber Lime, Iconic Silver, and Lucid Red. FordPass Connect allows the car to be a mobile WiFi hot spot for up to 10 devices. Also onboard is the Bang & Olufsen surround sound system. The biggest news is the European customers can order the Bullitt Mustang for another model year. Unprecedented demand for the iconic model is thanks to Steve McQueen being loved by gearheads around the world. To stay in-line with emissions and efficiency standards, the European Bullitts are limited to 464 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. We hope the domestic sales are also extended because our version offers 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Congrats to Ford for 55 years of the Pony Car. 2019 Bullitt Mustang Top Speed run on the Autobahn

This one probably caught a few Germans off-guard. Our friends at AutoTopNL like to push cars to their limits, and we're glad they filmed a 2019 Bullitt Mustang top speed run on the Autobahn. Ford pulled out all the stops for the 50th Anniversary of an epic film. Because Detective Frank Bullitt drove a green big-block Mustang GT, Ford Performance has delivered the most powerful 5.0L V8 ever offered. For only $47,810 you will have 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Engineers used a larger throttle body and a cold air intake for better flow, and the engine's tuning was remapped for a nice bump in power. Every example also has the latest in magnetic suspension and a short-throw shifter. Driven casually it will also reward you with 24 mpg. It is only offered in Bullitt Green with a six-speed manual transmission. Turn up your audio and listen to the soundtrack at 7,500 rpm. The car reaches 161 mph in 5th gear: Achievement Unlocked! Bullitt Mustang Stolen from Showroom in Evansville, Indiana The driver has years of experience driving fast cars, so we don't advise you to replicate this on any public roads. Production will be limited to Model Year 2019 only, but our dealers have a few left in their showrooms. Click the link below to find yours and stay with us for all your Autobahn action! 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Horsepower and Torque Reve...

If you see a Shelby in your future, be warned that it has a venomous bite. In a press release this morning, it was announced that the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 makes 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. Although the engine shares similar dimensions with the 5.2L found in the Shelby GT350, it does not use the exotic flat-plane crankshaft. Instead, Ford opted for their traditional firing order for several reasons. Not only does it have more torque down low, but this twist is also needed to spin the massive supercharger. If you missed out on the 2013 GT500, it had a supercharged 5.8L that offered 662 horsepower and 630 lb-ft. It had a primary goal of making the Corvette ZR1 the 2nd place American supercar. They have done it again, by beating the current ZR1 by 5 horsepower. Chevy makes 90 more lb-ft of torque, and it can be sent to a 7-speed manual. Mr. Shelby said it himself "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races". 2020 Shelby GT500 Price, Specs, Photos & Review Keep in mind the Corvette is 6.2L vs Ford's 5.2L, and that fact makes the new Shelby GT500 the most power-dense supercharged production V8 engine. The only transmission offered is a dual-clutch automatic, so it will be a quick and consistent competitor. Ford & Roush Unveil "Old Crow" P-51 Inspired Mustang

Colonel Bud Anderson spent six hours in his P-51 Mustang on D-Day. Although it was 75 years ago, he and his fighter plane are still famous in aviation history. That's because he is a triple fighter ace. He and his aircraft "Old Crow" flew 116 missions and shot 16 Luftwaffe planes out of the sky. Although he is 97 years old, we wouldn't want to be in his crosshairs. That is why Roush & Ford have unveiled an "Old Crow" P-51 inspired Mustang. It is a 700 horsepower Mustang GT wearing the livery of Col. Anderson's P-51. It will be placed among several surviving P-51 fighters at this year's AirVenture show. The annual fly-in takes place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Ford has been supporting it for 21 years. The car will be auctioned to support the Experimental Aircraft Association, a group that works to educate the next generation of American pilots. New 2020 Mustang High Performance Package: Most Powerful ...

The new 2020 Ford Mustang's High Performance Package has been unveiled and it's changing the entry-level game for Mustang buyers. Those who are opting for a EcoBoost engine now have the option to pick the new High Performance Package, which turns the Mustang into the most powerful four-cylinder sports car from an American automaker. The best part? This all started as a Focus RS engine swap. Behind the power is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that was specifically redesigned for the Mustang. Power from the engine is rated at 330 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, which is enough for a 0 to 60 mph run in the four-second area (with premium fuel) and a top speed of 155 mph. That's actually 34 mph faster than the 2019 EcoBoost Performance Package. For the manual gearbox fans, you will be delighted to know that the 2020 High Performance Mustang can come with either the 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission or 6-speed Getrag manual transmission. “It’s not just the horsepower gains over the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost, it’s the broader torque curve that delivers 90 percent of peak torque between 2,500 and 5,300 rpm, which is 40 percent wider than the base EcoBoost engine,” said Carl Widmann, Mustang chief engineer. “Plus, horsepower holds stronger up to the 6,500-rpm redline – enabling more usable power and torque for enthusiasts and weekend autocrossers to enjoy.” Pricing for the new 2020 Mustang High Performance Package has not been announced yet, but it will hit dealerships this fall. Oh! And it comes with a neat new badge. see all mustangs up for sale

2020 Ford Mustang Revives Classic Color Options

What once was old is new again. Iconic colors that were popular in the past are now seeing a resurgence. Making a statement can be difficult if your car looks bland, so the 2020 Ford Mustang has revived classic color options. Barb Whalen, Ford color and materials manager said: "It’s lime green on steroids. UPDATE: Ford Eagle Squadron Mustang sold at Woodward

In the summer of 1940, Hitler was finalizing his plans to invade England. Only one thing stood in his way, the brave & outnumbered Royal Air Force. The Battle of Britain tested the resolve of the Commonwealth, with pilots and planes coming from every colony in the empire. On paper, the Luftwaffe had better planes, but after 3 months of daily raids, England prevailed. Winston Churchill said this of the Royal Air Force: "Never was so much owed by so many to so few". A few American volunteers decided to push back the attackers, and they formed the Eagle Squadron.Ford’s One-of-a-Kind Shelby GT350 Mustang, “Old Yeller” Raises $295,000 for Education ProgramsWe also owe the RAF a few things. Their invention of Radar allowed the world to have microwave cooking, and their turbo-supercharged Rolls-Royce Merlin engine transformed the slow & anemic P51 Mustang into the best fighter of the war. Without this engine, the Mustang would have been relegated to the back of the history books. It was the RAF that supercharged the Mustang, which flew from airfields near Goodwood house. That is why Ford has delivered the Eagle Squadron Mustang GT to Goodwood Festival of Speed. The press release says one car will race up the hill this weekend, with Vaughn Gittin Jr. behind the wheel. Riding shotgun will be RAF Veteran Paul Miller, whose father Dusty flew with the Eagle Squadron. The other car will remain at Ford's display for all to see. This GT is loaded with a Ford Performance supercharger to make 700 horsepower, and it wears the RTR widebody kit to keep the massive 305/35/20 tires inside the body. A few details from the Spitfire fighter were added for the anniversary. This is the 10th Mustang Ford has built to support the Experimental Aircraft Association, and it will be on display at AirVenture Oshkosh on July 26th.Ford has given 100% of the proceeds to the EAA, over $3 Million so far. The EAA supports young people who want to be aviators, and it makes Oshkosh, Wisconsin one of the biggest airshows in the world. The cars will go to auction later this year to support the EAA. From the shifter to the supercharger, Ford offers every part to replicate this 700 horsepower/610 lb-ft beast. Find your Mustang in the link below and remember the 100,000 young airmen lost between our 8th Air Force and the Royal Air Force. Update: August 20thIn a press release by Ford, we have learned the Eagle Squadron Mustang was auctioned for $420,000 over the weekend. The Woodward Dream Cruise is a homecoming for American horsepower. Taking place the weekend before Pebble Beach, cars come to Detroit from all over the world to relive the glory days. Vaughn Gittin Jr and his team from RTR handed the keys to Brayton Williams, marking the 20th year Ford has supported the Experimental Aircraft Association. Ford Celebrates 10,000,000 Mustangs

As a Camaro connoisseur and an automotive writer, sometimes I have to mention the Ford Mustang. You can't argue with sales numbers and dealer orders, so Ford announced earlier today that the 10 Millionth Mustang has galloped off the assembly line in Flat Rock Michigan. Ford beat Chevrolet to market by 2 years, and the rest is history.Production of the 1965 Mustang began early in 1964, in order to be ready for the World's Fair. The cars were hidden behind lock and key at dealers across the country. Gail Wise purchased #001, and she was a guest of honor at this event. The car is one of the main exhibits at the Henry Ford Museum, so it was nice to see her back behind the wheel. When the car was shown the world it caused a sensation when dealers unveiled them. Aimed at a younger demographic, Ford invented a market that left other manufacturers scratching their heads. Gail Wise and the first production MustangThe press release says car # 10,000.000 is a Wimbledon White GT convertible, the same color combination as VIN 001. Despite being 54 years apart, both cars are V8 powered with manual transmissions. The first Mustang only offered 164 horsepower, but the latest Mustang GT arrives with 460, and the Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual shifts much smoother than the original cast iron 3-speed stick. Ford invited all Mustangs home to Dearborn, where the show was overflown by a P-51 Mustang, the car's namesake. Then they traveled in a parade to the Flat Rock Assembly Plant to see the latest cars leave the plant.Ford was first to market with overhead cams in the 427 "cammer" engine. The 1999 Mustang was the first Pony Car with independent rear suspension. Mustang was also first to have factory turbocharged power in the 80's SVO, and the first supercharged V8 in the 2003 SVT Cobra. It also introduced America to flat-plane V8 engines in the latest Shelby GT350.Finally, Ford has always priced the Mustang under the Camaro, at least in base model trim. If you want the ultimate, the 2019 Mustang Bullitt offers 480 horsepower in an unassuming green body.  Click the link below to find your Mustang, and congratulations to Ford for 54 years of strong sales.
