2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Horsepower and Torque Reve...

If you see a Shelby in your future, be warned that it has a venomous bite. In a press release this morning, it was announced that the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 makes 760 horsepower and 625 lb-ft of torque. Although the engine shares similar dimensions with the 5.2L found in the Shelby GT350, it does not use the exotic flat-plane crankshaft. Instead, Ford opted for their traditional firing order for several reasons. Not only does it have more torque down low, but this twist is also needed to spin the massive supercharger. If you missed out on the 2013 GT500, it had a supercharged 5.8L that offered 662 horsepower and 630 lb-ft. It had a primary goal of making the Corvette ZR1 the 2nd place American supercar. They have done it again, by beating the current ZR1 by 5 horsepower. Chevy makes 90 more lb-ft of torque, and it can be sent to a 7-speed manual. Mr. Shelby said it himself "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races". 2020 Shelby GT500 Price, Specs, Photos & Review Keep in mind the Corvette is 6.2L vs Ford's 5.2L, and that fact makes the new Shelby GT500 the most power-dense supercharged production V8 engine. The only transmission offered is a dual-clutch automatic, so it will be a quick and consistent competitor. Ken Block Unveils New Raptor Powered Supra Boat

Wakeboarding is a great way to spend time with friends, so you need a proper boat to entertain them. That is why Ken Block has unveiled his new Raptor powered Supra boat. It is similar to the one he bought last year, although the new SL550 offers more entertainment and more room. Ford & Roush Unveil "Old Crow" P-51 Inspired Mustang

Colonel Bud Anderson spent six hours in his P-51 Mustang on D-Day. Although it was 75 years ago, he and his fighter plane are still famous in aviation history. That's because he is a triple fighter ace. He and his aircraft "Old Crow" flew 116 missions and shot 16 Luftwaffe planes out of the sky. Although he is 97 years old, we wouldn't want to be in his crosshairs. That is why Roush & Ford have unveiled an "Old Crow" P-51 inspired Mustang. It is a 700 horsepower Mustang GT wearing the livery of Col. Anderson's P-51. It will be placed among several surviving P-51 fighters at this year's AirVenture show. The annual fly-in takes place in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and Ford has been supporting it for 21 years. The car will be auctioned to support the Experimental Aircraft Association, a group that works to educate the next generation of American pilots. The "FORD v FERRARI" Trailer is Finally Here

Have you ever seen a trailer that you had to watch again? The new "FORD v FERRARI" is such a trailer. It's the first time we see Christian Bale and Matt Damon acting as their roles of Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby, respectively. The film tells the true story of how Ford went to war against Ferrari. It was back in the 1960s that Ford and Shelby set a goal to beat Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. To accomplish this, they needed a car and a driver. Miles was their driver and the car they created would become known as the GT40. Ford's triumph over Ferrari is one of the greatest racing stories out there and this movie will hopefully do it justice. With the cast, it looks like it is definitely possible. They even have Jon Bernthal as Lee Iacocca! The film will hit theaters on November 15, 2019. Mark it in your calendars now, because this is one film you won't want to miss. 4 Ford GTs in Historic Liveries Mark End of an Era

It's the end of an era as we say goodbye to the Ford GT factory Le Mans program. Ford returned to Le Mans back in 2016 as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their historic win in 1966 an. Now, just a couple of years later, we're saying "adieu." To send the program off in a fashionable way, Ford has covered four factory Ford GTs with liveries that celebrate their momentous wins in the past. There is also a fifth customer team GT that will be donning a special livery as well. #67 has a livery that pay homage to the GT40 that Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt were victorious in at Le Mans in 1967. #68 was designed after Ford's most recent win in 2016. #69 has a livery that remembers the GT40 that came in second in the 1-2-3 finish by Ford in 1966. The black livery on #66 was chosen to mirror the GT40 that Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove to victory at Le Mans in 1966. #85 is a customer team Ford GT, but it will be wearing the same livery design as the four factory GTs. The 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans is set to take place on June 15 and 16. It will be the 87th edition of the famous race and the last for the factory Ford GT Le Man program. You will be able to see them on June 2 during the Official Le Mans Test. “In 2016, Ford returned to Le Mans to mark the 50th anniversary of our incredible 1966 win and we celebrated in the best way possible by winning the race,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. “To stand on that podium on behalf of the employees was a proud moment for me and I look forward returning to Le Mans this year to support the team as we approach our final race in this chapter.” See All Ford GTs For Sale Also Check Out: 2005 Ford GT Merkury 4 for Sale Jay Leno Reviews his 2005 Ford GT Ford GT: 10 Facts You Need To Know

The De Tomaso Pantera: Ford's Italian Halo Car

In a world of front wheel drive crossovers, the art of driving seems to be lost. Would you enjoy driving an Italian exotic? What if it was powered by a big block Ford V8? What if that fire breathing V8 was sitting right behind you? Mr. Shelby once said, “Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.” This fact has been used to justify every insane engine swap in history. Zero-to-60 times are a great measure of a car’s performance, but there is a problem. Most cars have to shift to 2nd gear before they reach 60 mph, and the gear change will add at least a half second to the time. If you have enough torque (think large V8), and the right transmission, you can stay in 1st gear until 60mph arrives. That is where the Pantera rises above the rest. Designed from the beginning to use a Ford V8 and the bulletproof ZF transaxle, you can wind out 1st gear past 60 mph before swapping cogs. Readers born after 1986 should experience riding on 235/70/15 tires; you won’t believe it. Halo cars serve a vital role in our industry. Nothing draws potential buyers to a dealership like a supercar in the showroom. The year was 1969, and Lee Iacocca was in charge. Shelby’s Cobra roadster production was over by ’67, leaving a big hole in the product lineup. Meanwhile, Chevrolet and their dealers were having a field day installing the monster 427 big block in everything from Corvettes to Novas. Iacocca had hoped that the street-legal version of the GT40 would take over as Ford’s supercar, but converting a LeMans racer into a grocery getter proved to be too costly. Via Beverly Hills Car Club - View Listing American V8s found homes in many different exotics and sports cars of the 60’s. DeTomaso’s Mangusta, or Mongoose, was the predecessor to the Pantera, and was powered by the venerable small block Windsor V8. Working directly with Ford, Alejandro de Tomaso knew the next generation V8 would be physically larger & heavier, but would produce much more power. From the beginning, the De Tomaso Pantera was designed with the bigger Cleveland V8 in mind. The rear-mid engine placement just ahead of the rear axles kept the tires planted on pavement and the center of gravity very low. Curb weight was near 3100 lbs, and weight bias was 42% front / 58% rear. You might think this would make the car very tail-happy around corners, but unequal length control arms and beefy front & rear sway bars made for confidence on the track. The bulbous 60 series tires on 15” wheels (considered sporty at the time) had tall sidewalls that would howl & scream as they approached their limits. Readers born after 1986 should experience riding on 235/70/15 tires; you won’t believe it. Via Fusion Luxury Motors - View Listing Exotic Cars For Sale Pantera rolled into Ford showrooms for the 1971 model year. Executives were hoping to sell 5000 cars annually, but the assembly lines in Turin’s Vignale Coachworks and at De Tomaso headquarters in Modena were not ready. In a bit of old world craftsmanship, the first production models were assembled by hand, with each artisan pushing the car to its next station. Via Fusion Luxury Motors - View Listing For our millennial readers, 5.8 liters of displacement doesn’t sound like a large power plant. In an all confusing manner, Ford had two V8 engines of this size which shared nothing in common. Enthusiasts and racers nicknamed both series by where they were produced. The 5.8L, or 351ci, Windsor was the traditional small block used in everything from the Falcon to the F100 truck. As you may have guessed, they were assembled at the Windsor, Ontario plant. In response to Chevy’s big block, Ford developed an all-new V8 of the same displacement. Confused yet? This new performance oriented engine was built at the Cleveland assembly plant. Clevelands have race inspired features like a dry intake manifold, meaning no coolant passages, and canted valves for high rpm breathing.  All early Panteras had a single four barrel Holley carburetors, and large diameter exhaust headers. Via Chicago Motor Cars - View Listing Ford had a hit on their hands. Sales were as expected, but by 1974 the oil embargo and ever tightening emissions regulations made Big Block V8 cars disappear from showrooms faster than the Tea Party’s 501(C)(3) status. That was an IRS joke, by IRS I mean Independent Rear Suspension, which only the Pantera, Corvette, and handful of other cars had in the 70’s. Since engine performance took a nosedive, DT decided to make handling and suspension the priority. As the car evolved, non-US buyers could choose from a race-ready Group 3 or Group 4 GT spec suspension, or the ultra luxurious GT5-S touring model. The resemblance to the Maserati Bora is not coincidental; DeTomaso owned Maserati until selling to Fiat in 1993. Ford ended production of the Cleveland V8 in 1984, and De Tomaso stockpiled what remaining engines they could find. Computer controlled fuel injection allowed the smaller Windsor V8 to replace its big carbureted brother in ‘86, and probably doubled the fuel mileage at the same time. The final Pantera rolled out in late 1993, ending one of the most iconic Italian cars of all time. That's why we are excited to announce the return of the brand. The same company that owns Apollo has purchased the rights, and their intention is to build a new supercar. We can't give you the details yet, but it is being engineered by the same people that built the Apollo IE. Stay with us, because it is bound to be a wild ride! View All De Tomaso Panteras for Sale

Ford Invests $500 Million in Rivian

What do you do if you have developed a game-changing electric car platform? Rivian is planning to launch 2 new American electric vehicles using a common chassis for both. The R1T and the R1S will launch next year, the fist is a pickup and the second is an SUV. Their range of 400 miles is unprecedented, so Ford invested $500 Million in Rivian. It is a major part of Ford's $11 Billion EV program. The press release from Dearborn also confirms the Mustang-inspired crossover and an electric F-150 are far along in development. Ford President & CEO Jim Hackett said: " As we continue in our transformation of Ford with new forms of intelligent vehicles and propulsion, this partnership with Rivian brings a fresh approach to both. At the same time, we believe Rivian can benefit from Ford’s industrial expertise and resources.” While the percentage of ownership was not mentioned, President of Global Opereations Joe Hinrichs is now on Rivian's board of directors. This is very similar to Porsche, who sourced electric parts from Rimac before purchasing 20% of the company. " width="680"> Related: Porsche Joins Forces With Rimac
