Petty's Garage 2016 Ford Mustang GT King Edition Makes 72...

Dodge upped the ante for American manufacturers with their 2014 release of the Hellcat option for the Challenger and Charger. A daily driver muscle car capable of creating 707, it raised the benchmark for what a production car should be able to do, and put most of the competition's numbers to shame. This year, Ford has an answer: the Petty's Garage 2016 Mustang GT "King Edition."It's a beast of a muscle car capable of creating 727 hp, and as an Oct. 23 press release from Ford explains, that's courtesy of NASCAR legend himself Richard "The King" Petty. The 2016 Mustang spent some time at Petty's Garage, and each was built up "to the specifications of The King himself."(See Also: Ford Brings 7 Customized F-150s to SEMA 2015)“I’ve always liked the look of the Mustang, and the 2016 model gives us a great base car to work with,” said Richard Petty in the release. “These new King edition Mustangs are pretty much the way I’d build my own. They are great fun to drive, and have a signature single exhaust."Three editions of the Mustang GT King Edition will be available in 2016, each with a limited run. 243 examples of the King model will be produced. The King Premier model will see only 43 examples, and the King Premier will see just 12. All in all, only 298 customers will enjoy a King Mustang in their collection.Of course, performance isn't the only area of these Mustangs that Petty's Garage tweaked. The rear diffuser, center-mounted exhaust, shift knob, sill plates, floor mats, head restraints and rear spoiler are all Petty designs, and each car will be signed by the man himself on a special dash plate. Petty blue with red and white accents covers the exterior.Pricing for the King edition is set to start at $67,495, while the King Premier starts at $90,495. 2015 Ford Apollo Edition Mustang Sells for Charity

A Mustang designed to pay homage to the Apollo space program was created by Ford to help raise funds for a charity, and judging from recent reports, they were more than successful. The 2015 Ford Apollo Edition Mustang, first introduced in a press release July 15, has sold for a price of $230,000 at auction, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Experimental Aircraft Assocation's (EAA) youth aviation programs. A July 30 update from EAA announced that the event, dubbed the Gathering of Eagles fundraiser, raised more than $2.2 million total. The Mustang served as one of the most highly anticipated lots at the auction, and perfectly embodied the theme of "Imagine the Possibilities." Making the Mustang's name even more fitting was the fact that many members of the Apollo 13 mission were present for the event. Captain Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13, spoke and shared his memories of the mission after a video of the crew's story was played.“The Apollo program delivered astonishing innovations in technology and achieved a national goal of landing the first human on the moon,” said Edsel B. Ford II, a member of the Ford board of directors, in the press release announcing the car. “The entire program was extraordinary – one of our nation’s greatest technological achievements. With this year’s stunning Apollo Edition Mustang, we salute that spirit of American ingenuity with the quintessential American automobile – Ford Mustang.”(See Also: 2015 Roush Stage 3 Mustang for Sale)Check out the photos of this special edition Mustang in the gallery below, and find your own Mustang to honor a trip to the moon from our listings below.Mustangs For Sale Gallery (Source: EAA.org) See More Mustang News

Passerbys stop to take a look at the American muscle car, with a few taking pictures with it as it sits quietly.(Related: 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Exhaust Modes in Action)Eventually, a man jumps in the driver's seat to start up the 5.2-liter V8, to the surprise of those nearby. He revs the 526 hp engine, scaring everyone within earshot. I'll admit, I would've jumped as well, because the engine sound is deafening, in a good way.Check out the video below to see just how scary loud the new GT350R's V8 engine really is.(Source: YouTube) More Ford News

2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Exhaust Modes in Action

Ford has ensured that owners of the new Mustang Shelby GT350R will not have to deal with a quiet exhaust all of the time. Due to noise regulations in America, Ford simply was not able to make the GT350 and GT350R muscle cars that scream at the top of their tail pipes.Instead, they created multiple exhaust modes for the car: one that is quiet for driving through the neighborhood, and another that opens the exhaust up to its full potential.(Related: Super Electric 1968 Mustang With 1,800 lb-ft of Torque)In a video uploaded by TwoPupsInTheTubs June 6, we get to hear these different exhaust modes and how big of a difference there truly is. There is no doubt in my mind that I would prefer to have it in the louder mode, because it is possibly one of the greatest sounds to ever come out of a Mustang.Check out the video below and let us know which mode you'd run with in the comments.(Source: YouTube via Road&Track.com) Click Here For More Mustang News

Shelby GT350 and GT350R Engine is Most Powerful Naturally...

We thought we would never see a flat-plane V8 from an American manufacturer, but it has happened. It may have eight cylinders, but Ford’s all-new powerplant in the upcoming Shelby GT350 is more like two race-bred four cylinders sharing a common crankshaft. The Italians have long lauded the praises of this design, as it allows for lighter engine internals and the ability to rev much higher than their cross-plane competitors.Ford is rating the new 5.2-liter engine at 526 hp and 429 lb-ft, according to a press release issued by the marque today. It does this by spinning to a Nascar-like 8,250 rpm. Only a handful of transmissions can withstand that engine speed, so a six-speed manual is the only gearbox offered. This engine will be exclusively available in the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R mustangs set to go on sale this fall.Ford is using the GT350 to launch a few other technologies that seemed impossible just a few years ago. A composite oil pan will keep temperatures down, and instead of cast iron sleeves, each cylinder liner will be made of steel wire transferred to the block by plasma welding. This engine is among the most advanced on the market and asserts Ford’s commitment to innovation and performance.(See Also: 2016 Ford Mustang GT350 and GT350R Price Leaked)As the release also tells us, this particular V8 is the most powerful, naturally aspirated, road-going engine to ever be created by Ford.  You can get a good look at the mechanics of this engine, as well as some of the features to be found in this powerful iteration of the Mustang, in the gallery below.Stay tuned to Autofluence for more Mustang and Shelby news, and be sure to browse our exclusive listings of Mustangs for sale for yourself, and get a little closer to the predecessor of this new Shelby.Mustangs For Sale Gallery (Source: Ford) See More Ford News
