Bloomberg notes that the increase in Camaro's success may be rooted in GM's strong incentives, which equaled about $3,409 per car. As for the Mustang, its incentives were less at about $2,602 per car.
The plant being affected is located in Flat Rock, near Detroit. This plant currently has 3,702 employed workers and produces the Mustang and Lincoln Continental models. Thankfully, workers will be paid during the temporary shutdown, which will end on October 17.
