The REGISTRY Report: Hypercars, Air-Cooled Porsches, and Modern Performance Cars Anchor Top Results

Porsche once again dominated enthusiast-focused results throughout the week, particularly within the modified and boutique-built air-cooled segment.

After last week’s major headlines from Mecum Indy and Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, overall transaction volume moderated slightly. Even so, six- and seven-figure results remained active across duPont REGISTRY Live, Bring a Trailer, Hagerty Marketplace, and Cars & Bids, particularly among low-production analog sports cars, modified air-cooled Porsches, and blue-chip classics and exotics.

Porsche once again dominated enthusiast-focused results throughout the week, particularly within the modified and boutique-built air-cooled segment. duPont REGISTRY Live was led by two highly customized air-cooled builds approaching the market from very different philosophies. A 1994 RUF RCT EVO Wide Body hammered at $983,000, while a 1995 Porsche 911 Gunther Werks 400R Greenwich Commission reached $752,777. Despite differing approaches between period-correct RUF engineering and modern carbon-intensive reinterpretation, both results illustrate sustained buyer demand for low-production Porsche builds from globally recognized tuning houses with strong provenance and documentation.

Bring a Trailer produced several major blue-chip results, led by a 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport at $4,400,000. Additional seven-figure sales included a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster at $1,451,000, and a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 at $1,276,000 and, validating ongoing strength across historically significant European grand touring and luxury performance cars.

Ford GT activity further reinforced strength across modern analog supercars. A 2006 Ford GT finished in Centennial White hammered at $517,000 on duPont REGISTRY Live, aided by its status as #35 of only 222 produced in that specification, along with just 3,315 miles shown. Bring a Trailer produced an even stronger result for a similarly configured 2005 Ford GT at $588,000.

The Ferrari 360 Modena Manual market produced two significant results in the same week. A 15,000-mile 2001 example sold for $261,000 on May 22, setting a new confirmed market high per dR Garage, while a 32,000-mile example sold for $172,000 on Bring a Trailer on May 25, representing 93.3% appreciation on the same car's $89,000 sale less than twelve months prior. Both results cleared the model’s current duPont REGISTRY Index (dRi) value of $118,000 across 195 recorded price points.

Manual examples carry a significant premium over F1 transmission counterparts, which carry a current dRi of $93,500, but both sit well below the Challenge Stradale, where the dRi stands at $420,000 across 61 recorded price points.

The Ferrari 458 platform also generated notable activity across several platforms. On duPont REGISTRY Live, a 2014 Ferrari 458 Speciale hammered at $377,000, while a standard 2012 Ferrari 458 Italia reached $221,888. Cars & Bids added another interesting outlier with a Mansory Siracusa-converted 2011 Ferrari 458 Italia, achieving $310,000. As the final naturally aspirated mid-engine V8 Ferrari, the 458 platform continues to occupy a unique position within the modern Ferrari market. Median values for the standard 458 Italia have remained relatively stable in and around the $200,000 range over the past several years, while limited-production and heavily customized variants continue to command substantial premiums.

Meanwhile, a modified Whipple-supercharged 2006 Ford GT reached a high bid of $438,000 without meeting reserve, suggesting buyers still place a premium on originality and lower-mileage examples despite strong interest in upgraded performance builds. Relative to the model’s original MSRP of approximately $140,000 and a dRi of $485,000, first-generation Ford GT values demonstrate substantial long-term appreciation.

Restomods and professionally built custom trucks also remained active. A supercharged LS3-powered 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu reached a high bid of $125,000 on Hagerty Marketplace without meeting reserve, while a 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Restomod by RELIC Custom Restoration hammered at $127,500 on duPont REGISTRY Live. The result follows similar six-figure sales previously achieved by RELIC-built Chevrolet SUVs, signaling sustained demand for high-quality restorations that blend vintage styling with modern drivability and performance upgrades.

Modern Chevrolet performance cars also remained active throughout the week. A C7 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 equipped with the seven-speed manual transmission and ZTK Track Performance package hammered at $162,000 on duPont REGISTRY Live. The continued strength of manual-equipped C7 ZR1s points to a broader generational pivot, as collectors increasingly prioritize analog engagement over outright technological advancement.

More accessible supercharged Corvette performance was represented by a C6 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport equipped with the Callaway SC606 package at $46,500. Meanwhile, a custom-built 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 commissioned for Mario Andretti achieved $87,740 on Hagerty Marketplace, illustrating how provenance and exclusivity can influence values beyond outright performance specifications alone.

Taken together, this week’s results illustrate a market driven primarily by rarity, provenance, analog driving experience, and highly specialized builds. Limited-production halo cars, boutique Porsche reinterpretations, and historically significant classics remain firmly at the forefront of collector demand, with buyers consistently paying substantial premiums for vehicles positioned at the top of their respective enthusiast categories. The following market highlights provide a closer look at the individual sales that best exemplified these broader market trends.

2011 Ferrari 458 Italia (Mansory Siracusa)
Cars & Bids - $310,000

The Ferrari 458 Italia represents the final era of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated V8 mid-engine platform, and this 2011 example is enhanced with a full Mansory Siracusa body kit. Finished in Rosso Corsa over a tan interior with just under 4,000 miles, the car combines extensive aftermarket carbon-fiber styling modifications with a clean California ownership history. Powered by a 4.5L V8 paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the 458 debuted as Ferrari’s highest-revving production V8. While Mansory conversions can be polarizing, this example demonstrates that low-mileage, highly individualized builds from globally recognized tuning houses can still attract strong buyer interest despite deviating significantly from factory specifications.
