duPont REGISTRY No. 478 – March 2025

When it comes to succession planning, Lamborghini’s Huracán set the gold standard. Following the Gallardo—a model that perfectly blended its Italian flair with German engineering prowess, following the Volkswagen Group’s acquisition—it became a supercar icon. Its exceptional 5.2-liter V10 engine provided a sublime soundtrack to accompany its razor-sharp looks and refined handling, and most importantly rewrote Lamborghini’s record books for sales. The Huracán became a benchmark for the brand, making its successor’s task even more daunting. Buy Single Issue Subscribe Enter the new Temerario, the latest addition to Lamborghini’s storied lineup. While it sacrifices two cylinders compared to the naturally aspirated Huracán, its new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, paired with three electric motors, delivers over 900 horsepower and a top speed of 213 mph. This advanced powertrain not only offers incredible performance but also enhances practicality—an added bonus for this entry-level Lamborghini. The smaller engine frees up much-needed luggage space, making the Temerario more versatile without compromising its supercar essence. Together with the flagship Revuelto and the ever-popular Urus Super SUV, the Temerario completes Lamborghini’s electrified 2025 lineup, proving that the brand can embrace a high-tech future without losing its soul. In our DRIVE section, road tester Gabriel Vega Cortés shares his dramatic start to the New Year. As wildfires ravaged Los Angeles, forcing him to evacuate his home, he found a welcome distraction in the delivery of Hummer’s EV SUV. Gabriel recounts how this chunky electric vehicle offered him a momentary escape from the dreadful scenes, and a chance to reflect on the possibilities of EVs off the road, as well as on the highway. In the LIVE section, we sit down with former Daytona 500 Champion Trevor Bayne, now the head professional driver and ambassador at Tennessee’s Flatrock Motorclub. Trevor discusses his career transition and the exciting opportunities at this state-of-the-art facility. Finally, our SELL section brings you a curated selection of the finest exotic and luxury cars, alongside some of the rarest classic automobiles available on the market today. duPont REGISTRY No. 477 – February 2025

This month’s cover star, the McLaren W1, is one of those automotive marvels that truly takes one’s breath away. Having just pipped Ferrari’s F80 to public launch, it must also have felt satisfying for the British marque to defeat the Prancing Horse to the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship at the tail-end of 2024. As we head into this New Year, with a transition of power in government, the political temperature is white hot. I’ll share something Jay Leno quipped recently, which amused me, about Elon Musk joining Donald Trump’s administration, noting that he’d sold so many Teslas to liberal Californians, he thinks Elon is trying to persuade conservatives that they’re cool too! Buy Single Issue Subscribe But seriously, electrification is a huge topic in the automotive industry, and Jaguar’s bold all-electric range, due to start sales in 2026, can be viewed as a $1.9 billion gamble as it reinvents its brand. This traditionally right-leaning brand has undergone a massive shift, with its controversial marketing campaign (which prompted Musk to jibe ‘Do you sell cars?’), logo changes and Miami Art Week concept car launch. As I see it, Jaguar has concluded that not enough of its traditional base was buying its cars, to the point that it’s stopped selling new ones in the UK. Its reimagining campaign has annoyed loyalists, but so what if there isn’t a business case anymore? After the pearl-clutching outcry faded, what Jaguar has done is actually very smart… This daring design will appeal to a younger affluent demographic, including many professional sportsmen, which will boost its profile further. I can also see it attracting all genders; I don’t think it was by accident that it launched in both pink and blue! It’s whipped up huge media interest, very clearly stated its aims, and revealed a concept car that boasts lines not dissimilar to a Rolls-Royce, for likely less than half of the price.  Speaking of which, be sure to check out Gabriel Vega Cortés’ road test of Rolls-Royces ultra-luxury Ghost Series II and Black Badge around the South of France. I spoke to Hollywood star Patrick Dempsey about his racing return and love affair with Porsche, and we also look at Alfa Romeo’s gorgeous 33 Stradale. Happy reading, and drive safely! duPont REGISTRY No. 476 – January 2025 - Aviation Guide E...

The arrival of a new Ferrari anniversary supercar is always something to behold: You’re guaranteed a scarlet automotive marvel that’ll knock your socks off if you ever got behind the wheel, featuring dramatic styling to go with its huge power output, and a reaction that spans the spectrum of usage for the words “Mamma Mia!” In this month’s cover story, Tyler Rampersaud dissects the technology-packed new F80. The numbers and specifications for this car are incredible, yet it’s endured a mixed reception by critics. It reminds me of what happened when the now iconic F40 was launched: The final road car personally approved by Enzo Ferrari, it’s become a renowned work of automotive art. But, back in the day, seasoned observers labeled it a cynical attempt to cash in on speculators’ money after seeing how much was paid for used 288 GTOs and declared it inferior to the Porsche 959. Buy Single Issue Subscribe The F40 featured a turbocharged V8 – and it’s another howl of disapproval that the F80 uses a V6 hybrid turbo engine, which produces a stunning 1,200 horsepower, but not the wonderful noise of a V12 of its predecessor, the LaFerrari. To me, just like the F40 was in 1987, the F80 feels a victim of its times. These criticisms will fade away. Another to carry the burden of an automotive legend is Bugatti’s Director of Design Frank Heyl. In our interview, he outlines to Gabriel Vega Cortés his ethos about what it takes to produce a timeless classic. In the DRIVE section, to complete our supercar set, we get behind the wheel of Pagani’s latest V12- powered offering, the Utopia. You’ll find our annual Aviation Guide in our LIVE section, which will help those looking to travel in luxury find the right solutions for their situation. Whether it be via charter, ownership, or even membership, we have something for everyone. And in SELL, you’ll simply have to check out Rogue Van Company, located in San Diego, CA, as its RC-1 rejects the familiar and embraces the conceptual. Happy reading, and drive safely! Hello, everyone. Allow me to introduce myself: I’m Charles Bradley, the new editor-in-chief of duPont REGISTRY Group. I bring over 30 years of publishing experience on both sides of the Atlantic to this incredible magazine. My background is motorsports, so it’s fitting that our cover star this month is Steve McQueen’s very own Porsche 917K used in the filming of Le Mans, renowned as one of the greatest auto racing movies ever made. The ‘king of cool’ certainly was a skilled wheelman, and although he was forbidden from taking part in the 24-hour race itself, he drove this car during post-event filming to create a true classic of the genre. Coming soon, this car will go across the auction block at Mecum’s 2025 Kissimmee auction. Will this highly sought-after beauty create a new record? Matt Avery gives you the lowdown on this one-of-a-kind racer that was also owned by Jerry Seinfeld! Buy Single Issue Subscribe In the DRIVE section, the racing theme continues as I get a taste of the Miami Grand Prix’s exclusive new drive club called Precision. Whether it’s lapping a Formula 1 racetrack in a Ferrari 488 Pista or sipping Charles Heidsieck champagne in the Miami Dolphins locker room afterward, it was a first assignment that created fine memories! Also, Gabriel Vega Cortés reviews the latest Ferrari Purosangue, the V12-powered machine from the Prancing Horse’s stable that’s romping along in the super SUV market. Keeping things Italian, we get exclusive insight from Lamborghini’s Product Line Director, Paolo Racchetti, as he guides us around the Temerario, Sant’Agata Bolognese’s latest 909 horsepower supercar from its high-performance electrified range. In our LIVE section, we bring you the annual Holiday Gift Guide, featuring 12 pages of luxury goods for everyone in the family. Our SELL section, as always, brings you the best exotic and luxury cars, as well as the rarest classics that are on sale worldwide. Happy reading, and drive safely!
