One of the most historic and celebrated racing stages on the planet, the Monaco Circuit is not only home to the annual Monaco Grand Prix, but also to historic races and the Monaco E-Prix, a race with all-electric vehicles on the annual Formula E calendar. One of the teams that took on the recent Monaco E-Prix was Jaguar TCS Racing, and while its race cars took on the track with competition in mind, Jaguar as a manufacturer is also on the cusp of an electric vehicle renaissance.
Jaguar has spent the last few years transforming its brand, with a new logo, a new aesthetic, and the Type 00 concept car. That concept car has given way to a new upcoming all-electric Jaguar, the Type 01, which will be Jaguar’s first new production model in a considerable number of years. A four-door grand tourer, it will boast 1,000 horsepower and has already shown off impressive driving dynamics.
However, since giving the upcoming model a name, Type 01, Jaguar has now showcased it at the Monaco Circuit. Camouflaged prototypes of the new electric luxury performance model lapped the circuit, showcasing technology that relates the new grand tourer to the Jaguar TCS Racing Formula E cars. With immense power, racing-derived technology, and decades of luxury automotive legacy, the new Jaguar Type 01 drummed up excitement for the brand’s full renaissance in Monaco.
