This 327,906-Piece LEGO Koenigsegg Hypercar Set A World Record

Christian von Koenigsegg and LEGO took a 327,906-piece Sadair's Spear to Goodwood and made history.

In 2025, Christian von Koenigsegg and his team set a new record-breaking lap at the Goodwood Festival of Speed Hill Climb, securing a blistering time of 47.14 seconds in the Timed Shootout with its 1,625-horsepower Sadair's Spear hypercar. Alongside the debut of its newest small-scale, buildable collaboration with LEGO, Koenigsegg set out on yet another record-breaking journey, this time, behind the wheel of a full-scale LEGO build of the Sadair’s Spear. With a little help from automotive YouTuber Mr JWW, Koenigsegg and LEGO traveled to the Goodwood House and Estate in West Sussex, England, to document its efforts at claiming the world record for the fastest LEGO Technic car ever built.

The 1-of-1 LEGO Koenigsegg was constructed by hand using 327,906 Technic pieces, which required more than 9,400 hours of assembly time, without any directions, mind you. And while you may assume that this is just a fragile build that deserves a display space in a museum, roped off with “no touching” signs, it’s actually fully functional and even comes equipped with Koenigsegg’s signature ‘Ghost Mode’. At the push of a button, the mirrors fold, doors open, and front and rear hoods lift to reveal all the nooks and crannies, mirroring the exact movements of the multi-million dollar Sadair’s Spear. When it came to choosing a driver to pilot the build to a world record victory, there was no better choice than the man who set the record himself at Goodwood for Koenigsegg in 2025, factory test driver Markus Lundh. The only caveat behind the attempt was that Lundh would be tackling the hill climb backwards, racing downhill on a course that's traditionally run in the opposite direction. After navigating a few tight corners with some tire screeching and finding strength in the straights, the LEGO Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear broke the world record for fastest LEGO Technic car with a top speed of 69 mph (111 km/h).

If you’d like to take on the challenge of building your very own version of the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear, in a much smaller scale with far fewer pieces, LEGO will be launching the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar build set on its website on July 4th. Check back into duPont REGISTRY on launch day for more upcoming info on how to buy the newest collaboration release from Koenigsegg and LEGO.
