Lamborghini Recaps The Lineage Of Its Few-Off Roadsters

Could this mean a new limited-production Lamborghini roadster is coming?

Lamborghini’s few-off supercars have, for nearly 20 years, been some of the most desirable and collector-worthy supercars ever created, and last year saw the introduction of the latest one: the Fenomeno. Before the Fenomeno was revealed, Lamborghini looked back on its cherished legacy of few-offs, like the Reventón, the Veneno, the Centenario, and the Sián. However, all of those cars had open-top counterparts, as well.

The Reventón Roadster, Veneno Roadster, Centenario Roadster, and Sian Roadster all added open-top thrill and style ot the limited-production coupes they complemented in 2009, 2014, 2016, and 2020, respectively, and Lamborghini’s latest announcement is a retrospective on all of those open-top icons.

The first was 2009’s Lamborghini Reventón Roadster, whose design was inspired by fighter jets. Only 15 examples were made, and they featured extensive carbon fiber, fully digital instrument panels for the first time in a Lamborghini, and other unique design touches. Then came the Veneno Roadster in 2014, which was limited to just nine units. With a 0-60 time of below three seconds, and a striking, unique design, the Veneno Roadster is one of the most treasured supercars in the world.

In 2016, the Lamborghini Centenario Roadster was created to celebrate the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini. It featured rear-axle steering, touchscreen infotainment, and other innovations that were brought to Lamborghini models that came after it. 2020 saw the latest few-off Lamborghini roadster, the Sián Roadster. Only 19 units were made, and it featured the hybrid technology that would serve as a prequel to the new plug-in hybrid Revuelto V12 flagship.

Before all of those, however, the Miura Roadster was showcased as a unique Bertone creation, starting a long legacy of open-top masterpieces with small production numbers and collector-grade prestige. As Lamborghini looks back on its few-off roadsters, a roadster variant of its latest few-off supercar, the Fenomeno, could be coming soon.
