Lamborghini Reunites Cannonball Run Stars With The Iconic...

Lamborghini's movie star turns 45! To mark the 45th anniversary of the legendary Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S, Automobili Lamborghini reunited Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman, the two actresses who drove this iconic car in the cult film "The Cannonball Run." This Countach, with its famous Nero exterior and Senape interior, was originally manufactured in November 1979 and shipped to a dealership in Rome. It journeyed to Florida, where it caught the eye of a friend of the movie's director, leading to its memorable cameo in the film. The Countach had been extensively modified for its role, featuring a new wing, full-beam headlights, a spoiler, multiple antennas, and a dozen exhaust pipes. After the movie, the Countach returned to its owner but kept its cinematic upgrades. In 2009, Jeff Ippoliti, a New York native and Florida resident, bought the car, fulfilling a childhood dream inspired by the movie's opening scene. Automobili Lamborghini "The Cannonball Run," based on the real-life cross-country race, featured an all-star cast including Roger Moore, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and Jackie Chan. Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman, playing the race's only all-female team, drove the Countach and captured audiences with their on-screen chemistry. The film's unforgettable three-minute police chase scene, featuring the roaring 12-cylinder engine of the Countach, cemented the supercar's status as a cultural icon. The Library of Congress recognized the Countach LP 400 S's significance, adding it to an exclusive list of cars that have shaped American history. Automobili Lamborghini During the anniversary celebration, Barbeau and Buckman reminisced about their experiences with the Countach. Neither actress had driven a Lamborghini before the film, making their memories even more special. The event, organized by Lamborghini Polo Storico, highlighted the brand's dedication to preserving its rich heritage and celebrated the lasting influence of the Countach on automotive culture. Reuniting the car with its original stars highlighted the legacy of both the Lamborghini Countach and The Cannonball Run. Prestigious events like Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este celebrate the preservation of significant examples from brands like Automobili Lamborghini, honoring its past through a timeline of early-era Italian supercars. This year's event, held since 1929, welcomed four iconic Lamborghinis from Sant'Agata Bolognese, highlighting the growing popularity of Lamborghini's classic cars. Among the jaw-dropping examples was a 1967 Miura P400, featured in Class D, "Faster! The Arms Race On The Road." Originally shipped to the U.S. and recently restored, the Miura features a vibrant Rosso Miura finish. Another showstopper, a 1976 Countach LP 400, competed in Class H, "The Need For Speed: Supercar Stars of The Video Generation." Delivered in a unique Viola with Bianco interior, this Countach claimed the 'il Canto del Motore' trophy for its V12's exceptional sound. A Countach 25th Anniversary, launched in 1990, also captured attention with its custom Arancio exterior, created to match its first owner's original Countach. This rare right-hand-drive model, with minimal mileage and certified by Polo Storico, was a highlight of the entire event. Additionally, a 1999 Diablo GT made its debut at Villa d'Este, winning the 'BMW Group Ragazzi' trophy, awarded by the young audience at Villa Erba. This Diablo GT, one of only eighty produced, is known for its Titanium Silver exterior. Each car's unique history adds to the appeal, from the Miura's groundbreaking design to the Countach's iconic presence and the Diablo's impressive debut. Lamborghini Centenario Specs, Photos, and Price

The Lamborghini Centenario is a hypercar manufactured by the Italian automaker based in Sant’Agata Bolognese to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder and soul of Lamborghini cars. Apart from the handful of prototypes and the famous ‘Veneno’ model, the Centenario is the most exclusive Lamborghini ever made. Only twenty coupe and twenty roadster versions were built, making this a true collectors’ item. Unfortunately, all units have been already sold, with a price of $1,900,000 USD each. Looking for more details? Keep reading to learn everything about the Lamborghini Centenario. See All Lamborghini Centenarios for Sale Lamborghini Centenario Specs Engine: V12 Horsepower: 770 hp 0-60 mph: 2.8 seconds 0-186 mph: 23.5 seconds Top Speed: 217+ mph Price: $1,900,000 Design and Exterior The Lamborghini Centenario is an unadulterated work of art and a genuine marvel of modern engineering, maintaining Lamborghini’s philosophy to design and build the ‘most striking and technically advanced cars in the world’. Taking its design cues from their modern lineup – the angularity of the Aventador and the creases of the Huracán – the Centenario slips more than easily into a discourse about the future, specifically that of the human psyche, like a hairpin turn in need of a rear diffuser and an active rear wing, setting it up for optimal downforce and aerodynamic scrub. The entire exterior is composed almost entirely of carbon fiber: an obvious material choice for the benefit of reduced weight, but which also aids in structural rigidity. " width="680"> Engine and Performance At its core is one of the most powerful engines Lamborghini has ever made: a naturally aspirated V12, pumping 770 horsepower from its 6.5 liters. Thanks to the Centenario’s lightweight carbon fiber construction, it makes 3,351lb – a fitting weight for the car built to honor Ferrari. That’s enough, in case you were wondering, to fire the Centenario from a standstill to 62mph in 2.8 seconds, and from 0-186mph in 23.5 seconds. Top speed is more than 217mph. Barely believable for a road car. There’s a permanent four-wheel drive system on board, but the real clever tech comes with Lamborghini’s patented four-wheel steering, which applies extra power to the rear wheels and turns them in opposite directions to those up front. This makes it nearly impossible to shove the Centenario off the line on anything but the very worst surfaces. Interior and Customization The interior is as luxurious as you’d expect from a £1.8 million custom commission. Choices of interior trim and exterior paint scheme are different. Each car is personalized according to the owner’s preferences through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam customization program, which offers options such as different leather and piping colors, stitching and material options for the cabin, as well as trimmings from Alcantara, Nappa leather, and Alstonate. Several different carbon fiber trimmings or other metallic trimmings are also available. As standard, you get a 10.1-inch touchscreen navigation system, Apple CarPlay and in-depth telemetry, which enables you to interrogate your own driving to make it better. Inside, the mix of comfort and sportiness inherent to all Maseratis – whether super sports or highly capable SUVs – remains. The cockpit provides the opportunity to turn the proverbial ‘ignition key’ and embark on an almost visceral yet thoroughly civilized automotive experience. Technological Innovations Naturally, the Centenario represents the very pinnacle of Lamborghini's technical achievement. The car’s active aerodynamics, including the carbon fiber blade of the active rear wing, constantly modulate themselves, adapting to the needs of the moment given prevailing driving conditions. Exclusively rear-wheel drive, with a four-wheel steering system, rear-wheel steering helps turn the car with greater ease at lower speeds, while simultaneously increasing rear stability during high-speed runs. Leather seating in the Centenario Lamborghini uses carbon thread to cope with its 770+ horsepower output. But the car’s Big Data edge gives it a fifth advantage: its advanced performance telemetry system allows a driver to automatically generate and store a meticulous record of his performance in real-time so that it can be later reviewed. Such a device is of inestimable value to those pro drivers who need to record their driving data to track their performance. Exclusivity and Legacy Lamborghini has only produced 40 units (20 coupes and 20 roadsters), making it one of the most exclusive cars in the world. It is a car designed for the small minority who demand and retain the best. Only a lucky few collectors will be able to call it their own, driving it with speeds of up to 340kph. It is more than just a car, it is a fragment of automotive memory, an anniversary edition that celebrates Ferruccio Lamborghini and how far the brand has come. The Lamborghini Centenario is simultaneously a throwback and a leap forward. Like all Lamborghinis, it honors the company’s founder while pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering. The Centenario boasts a V12 engine built of few, finely minced parts and takes advantage of every modern racing technology so that acceleration is a 20-second on-ramp. Indeed, the Centenario has everything – including a bespoke interior – but most of us don’t. But who cares? The Centenario is Lamborghini’s moment of triumph. In it, we see everything the company hopes to achieve, and everything we can expect it to do in the future. Lamborghini and its impossible drive to make the superlative superlative: as long as they’re around, the world won’t run out of Lambos. View All Centenarios For Sale (Images via Lamborghini)
