Everything You Need To Know About The Lamborghini Aventador

With over a decade spent as Lamborghini’s flagship model, the Aventador built up quite the résumé. It’s in the process of taking its final bow, but thankfully the story of the Lamborghini Aventador has a happy ending. After more than a decade in production, the Lamborghini Aventador has been an object of desire and admiration for just about the entire car world. Its naturally aspirated V12 power, all-wheel drive, and stunning looks that have remained fresh, modern, and even futuristic to this day have made it a car that will live on in history as one of the greatest, most iconic supercars of its time. The Aventador had a long history, and in its time it had plenty of iterations and incredible special editions and one-offs, as well as rare cars that used the Aventador as a basis to build an entirely new model. Here, we’ll take a look at the entire history of the Aventador, from the original, all the way to the final Ultimae and the rare cars based off of the Aventador that give us a look at Lamborghini’s possible future. Lamborghini Aventador Production Variants Aventador The original Aventador sent shockwaves through the automotive world. Tasked with the responsibility of replacing the legendary Murcielago, the Aventador had to live up to the high expectations that the Murcielago left behind, and it surely lived up to them. The Aventador’s all-wheel drive and naturally aspirated V12 engine gave it the incredible performance to put it at the highest echelons of the supercar world, with an incredible 0-60 time that was under 3 seconds, and a quarter-mile time that rivals the greatest cars on the road. Along with that was the fact that the Aventador was one of the most comfortable and luxurious Lamborghinis yet, helping it not only carry the Lamborghini legacy but grow it. Featuring a removable two-piece carbon-fiber roof, the Aventador Roadster was easily able to let the sky in as you drove. Today, it remains one of the greatest open-topped cars to drive in the world, as even without the roof, it maintained the original Aventador’s incredible performance capability and prowess, as well as its composure on the road for varying driving situations. MSRP: $441,600HP: 690 horsepowerTORQUE: 509 lb/ft0-60: 2.9 seconds1/4 MILE: 10.5 seconds @ 137 mphPRODUCTION NUMBER: 1,075 Aventador Superveloce How do you get better than a mid-engined, V12-powered, all-wheel-drive supercar? You make it faster, of course. That’s what Lamborghini did to the Aventador when the Aventador Superveloce was introduced. It took the incredible DNA of the Aventador and squeezed even more performance potential out of it, by further improving the engine, and taking anything out of the interior and the car itself that wouldn’t contribute to incredible performance. While the luxurious Lamborghini quality remains, you can see the exposed carbon fiber monocoque of the car in various places, and the Lamborghini Aventador SV is just as fast as it looks. MSRP: $494,000HP: 740 horsepowerTORQUE: 507 lb/ft0-60: 2.8 seconds1/4 MILE: 10.5 seconds @ 141 mphPRODUCTION NUMBER: 600 Why You Should Buy A Lamborghini Aventador SV Aventador Superveloce Roadster Over 100 pounds lighter than the standard Aventador Roadster, the Superveloce Roadster blended the very best of both worlds of the Aventador when it was released, the unique experience of a roadster, and the laser-focused performance of the Superveloce. Even the engine, the beating heart and one of the most impressive components in the Aventador, wasn’t safe from being improved when given the SV treatment. It’s both lighter and more powerful, and in a roadster with no soundproofing and a carbon fiber monocoque, that’s an easy difference to feel. MSRP: $530,075HP: 740 horsepowerTORQUE: 507 lb/ft0-60: 2.9 seconds1/4 MILE: 10.5 seconds @ 137 mphPRODUCTION NUMBER: 500 Aventador S The Lamborghini Aventador, just like any Lamborghini, was never a car known to rest on its laurels, which is why the Aventador S was introduced in 2017, updating and evolving the Aventador to make it an even greater supercar than it already was. With the Aventador S, four-wheel steering was introduced to the model, along with LDVA suspension control, and a refreshed design inside and out, making for an Aventador that was more capable and configurable, and not to mention more powerful than ever. MSRP: $417,826HP: 730 horsepowerTORQUE: 509 lb/ft0-60: 2.9 seconds1/4 MILE: 10.5 seconds @ 137 mphPRODUCTION NUMBER: ~ 2,000 Aventador S Roadster While the roadster variant of the Aventador S might not be as much of a performer as its coupe counterpart, there’s no way to deny that the formula of an open-top, mid-engined, V12 supercar that has mechanically identical improvements to the Aventador S is a winning one. The Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster is one of the greatest examples of Lamborghini’s ability to beautifully combine both performance and luxury to make some of the greatest Italian supercars the world has ever known. Along with that, the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva system, or ALA for short and the evolved LDVA 2.0 system help reduce drag by 1% and improve downforce by 40%, resulting in the SVJ breaking the record for production cars at the Nürburgring by setting a 6:44.97 lap time. What you are imagining is the wind in your hair as you let 759 horsepower and all-wheel-drive take you from 0-60 in an uncompromised 2.8 seconds, and eventually get you to over 219 mph. The performance, dynamism, looks, and legend status of the Aventador SVJ is something found in only a handful of cars ever made, and once you add all of that into a roadster, it becomes even more special. The origin of the J is in the Miura Jota of 1970. In a convoluted twist, the name Jota comes from the Spanish pronunciation of the letter J, as the Miura Jota was built to conform to the regulations set out in the FIA’s Appendix J, which is all to say that the Aventador J was built with a racing spirit. Obviously, it lacks a roof, but also air conditioning and a radio (since neither would likely be able to do very much) to save weight. The car shown at Geneva was the only Aventador J to be produced, and it sold for an amazing $2.8 million. RM Sotheby’s Guikas Collection: 1975 Lamborghini Countach...

Presented by RM Sotheby's - When the Lamborghini Countach was first revealed as the marque’s flagship, replacing the iconic Miura, the supercar’s bold design drew widespread acclaim. On the first showing of the LP500 prototype at the Geneva Motor Show in 1971, it immediately set itself apart from its predecessor with its wedge shape and angular edges; such proportions had seldom been seen before. But the bold design of the Countach presented problems, as the car’s unique shape restricted visibility. As a result, Lamborghini devised a solution: a novel “periscope” mirror system. Known as ‘Periscopio’ examples, the first 157 Countach LP400 production cars are, like the concept, defined by the lowered section of the roof that neatly flows into a small sight window to give drivers extra rearward visibility. These cars actually use a more conventional rearview mirror rather than a true periscope, but the distinctive name stuck. The early Countach models retained this feature until the LP400 S was introduced in 1978, with Lamborghini dropping the setup in favor of a completely flat roof. The first LP400, and the LP400 S that would follow, shared the same engine: a 4.0-litre V-12 fed by six Weber carburetors. This example, finished in black over black leather interior, is understood to have been the 55th Countach made by Lamborghini. It was originally finished in red over black and later repainted to its present dramatic combination. Delivered new to a customer in Milan, the car was sold to its next owner in Bologna in 1977. It was exported to the United States that same year, where it was received by Auto Palace of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Walker Inman Jr. would own the car for 12 years; its next three owners were all based in California. During its time in the U.S., the dashboard of the Countach was autographed by Marcello Gandini, one of the designers of the car, at the California Concours in 2003. Paperwork indicates that over 2006 and 2007, the Lamborghini underwent around $60,000 of recommissioning work at Bobileff Motorcar Company in California, who rebuilt the engine and tidied up parts of the exterior and interior requiring attention. The car returned to Europe when it was bought by its next owner in Germany in 2007. The Countach was unquestionably one of the defining supercars of the 20th century, and early LP400 ‘Periscopio’ examples such as this are particularly appreciated for hewing the closest to Lamborghini’s bold original vision. The sale includes a Lamborghini Countach manual, license plates from a previous Italian registration, a spare wheel, and tool kit. RM Sotheby’s will present this vehicle as part of a single-owner collection comprised of 75 of the finest racing and road cars in the world, offered entirely without reserve. The Guikas Collection, to be sold at Paul Ricard Circuit in France in November 2021, presents pedigrees spanning from the endurance racing of the 24 Hours of the Le Mans to the world stage of Formula One and nearly everything in between. The collection of race cars will provide modern racing enthusiasts an introduction into virtually all vintage racing series worldwide, including GT and road cars that are equally impressive which offer a wide selection of Pre- and Post-War sports cars. Watch Our 2021 Lamborghini Huracan STO First Drive

There is no better place to test out a supercar than on a racetrack. That's why I traveled to California to drive the 2021 Lamborghini Huracan STO at Willow Springs International Raceway. Be sure to check out the video embedded above to see a complete overview of the brand-new STO as well as on-track driving footage. I've also published an entire Lamborghini Huracan STO first drive article journaling my full STO experience. The Huracan STO is powered by the brand's now-iconic 5.2-liter V10, which pushes out 640 hp in this application. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends all of its available power to the rear wheels. Additionally, the STO has rear-wheel steering, a first for a rear-drive Lambo. However, the biggest story here surrounds the brand-new aerodynamic elements. Just above your head, you'll find a hood scoop that feeds cool air straight into the engine bay. Behind that, a shark fin helps stabilize the STO during high-speed cornering. However, the most attention-grabbing part is the manually adjustable rear wing, which can provide over 900 lb of downforce at 173 mph. At full speed, the STO can rocket to 60 mph in 3 seconds and continue up to a top speed of 192 mph. While the STO is unique, it isn't a limited edition. While its near $330,000 base price is nothing to scoff at, it's more than justified for the driving experience on offer. Browse Huracan STOs For Sale

The Lost Lamborghini Countach Has Been Recreated and Unve...

Lamborghini has rebirthed an icon after over 25,000 hours of work. The first Lamborghini Countach LP 500 was unveiled all the way back in 1971 at the Geneva Motor Show. Presented as the successor to the Miura, the Countach offered a drastically different design and would be the catalyst for a drastic change in the world of supercars. The very example of the Countach that was unveiled would then go on to sacrifice itself during crash tests and then disappear from the world in 1974. With such prestige, a discerning customer approached Lamborghini with the idea of recreating the original Countach that has been lost to the world. In charge of the recreation was Polo Storico, the branch of Lamborghini that's in charge of preserving the automaker's history. They swiftly began collecting data, including photos, notes, drawings, and even meeting reports. When work began on the car, they started with the platform chassis and then moved on to the bodywork. During the production phase, the team at Polo Storico used methods that respected the original methods when the original was created. For example, the sheet metal for the body was beaten down and then shaped by a "battilastra," a traditional Italian way. As far as the mechanical components of this recreation, Lamborghini either used original spare parts, restored components or just completely rebuilt them. The process for this 1971 Countach recreation was so in-depth that Polo Storico even worked with Pirelli to bring the original Cinturato CN12 tires back to life. Using images and documents from Fondazione Pirelli's archives, they were able to recreate the original 245/60R14 front tires and 265/60R14 rear tires. The team was so accurate that they made sure the tread pattern is the exact same as the tires fitted on the original reveal Countach. Last, but not least, Lamborghini used their archives to match the "Giallo Fly Speciale" paint perfectly. If you'd like to see the magnificent 1971 Lamborghini Countach LP 500 recreation, it will be on display at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. See All Countachs For Sale Source: Lamborghini

First Lamborghini SCV12 Delivered in the US

The first track-only hypercar from Lamborghini has landed. O'Gara Coach has just announced that they have delivered the very first Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 in the United States. This new model from Lamborghini is a track-only hypercar that the automaker says is a direct descendant of cars like the Miura Jota and Diablo GTR. It's powered by a mean V12 engine that produces an astonishing 830 horsepower. As you can tell just by looking at it, the SCV12 is a purpose-built machine that takes aerodynamics seriously. It takes aero so seriously, in fact, it's capable of producing 2,645 lbs of downforce at 155 mph. That power and downforce combined with its lightning-quick and new X-trac sequential six-speed gearbox are all a recipe for a thrilling drive on the track. Naturally, the team at O'Gara Coach didn't waste any time getting the new SCV12 onto the track at The Thermal Club. Lamborghini Squadra Corse even came out with a full crew to help set up and run the car. They even brought out the white SCV12 that was on display at Pebble Beach to run alongside the example that was delivered. Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 Revealed: A New Hybrid V12...

The legendary supercar has finally returned. The new Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 has been unveiled as a hybrid V12 hypercar that will, without question, take your breath away. Its design is clearly inspired by the classic supercar but with a modern twist. The end result is a new Lamborghini hypercar that is an instant icon. As mentioned before, this most definitely houses a hybrid V12 powertrain as the Aventador Ultimae was the final Lamborghini to be powered solely by a V12 engine. The 6.5-liter V12 engine produces 769 horsepower while the supercapacitor-powered 48-volt emotor provides an additional 34 horsepower for a total of 803 horsepower. With a monocoque chassis and body panels, all made of carbon fiber, the new Countach's low dry weight of 3,516 lbs means the power will go quite a ways in terms of performance. For the new Lamborghini Countach's design, hints of the classic supercar can be found throughout, especially in its silhouette. Upfront are two horizontal headlights, although flip-up heads are obviously not included. In the rear, an inverted wedge shade can be found with taillight clusters that are unmistakably mirroring the classic. There are also four exhaust tailpipes located down low, just like the original. Another design aspect that cannot go unnoticed is the side "gills" that mimic the classic Countach but are much more pronounced. These vents are also located on the doors, which are, of course, scissor doors. These doors open up to an interior that also takes design cues from the original Countach, like the geometric stitching on the comfortable-looking seats. Lamborghini will be creating just 112 examples of the Countach LPI 800-4, with deliveries starting in the first quarter of 2022. There will be a range of heritage exterior paint options available for the new Countach, including Giallo Countach and Verde Medio, as well as Lamborghini's modern palette of paints. Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Meets the Lamborghini Sian...

The Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini Edition motorcycle can thank its appearance to the groundbreaking Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 supercar. When designing the new motorcycle, Ducati took various aspects from the supercar and introduced them to the design of the bike in various ways. Take the wheels for example, which mirror the wheels found on the Sian FKP 37. If the owner of a Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 ever wanted a bike for their garage, the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini would have to be it as it matches the car so well in so many respects. In fact, you can see how well it looks next to the Lamborghini thanks to Lamborghini Miami who recently had a photoshoot of the two. In the images found in this article, you can see the motorcycle parked right next to the supercar. It's a pair made in heaven. These vehicles may be standing still on the showroom floor, but if they were opened up on the road, both would excite in their own way. Take the Sian FKP 37, which has a hybrid setup that's mated to a massive 6.5-liter V12 engine. Equally as impressive is the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini which is powered by the 1262 cc Ducati Testastretta DVT. This engine is capable of producing 157 horsepower and 9,500 rpm and 95 lb-ft of torque at 7,500 rpm. View Inventory

2021 Lamborghini Huracan STO Revealed: A Street-Legal Rac...

The success of the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO and Huracan GT3 EVO race cars is undoubted. And because of this, Lamborghini has decided to bring create what’s essentially a street-legal version of the race car to life, the new Lamborghini Huracan STO (Super Trofeo Omologato). This V10-powered supercar has all of the knowledge from Squadra Corse’s team behind it but can also cruise on public roads. Across the exterior of the Huracan STO are new components and features that aim to increase its aerodynamics and downforce, just like any race car. Upfront, Lamborghini’s engineers combined the bonnet, fenders, and bumper into one single piece, similar to the Miura and Sesto Elemento. The air ducts of the front bonnet increase airflow to the central radiator while the front splitter aids in the creation of downforce. See All Lamborghini Huracans For Sale In the rear of the new Huracan STO is where some of the most extreme aerodynamic components can be found. First up is the imposing adjustable rear wing with the double airfoil setup. Drivers can manually adjust this rear wing quite easily depending on their needs. Resting on top of the engine bay is a wicked shark fin that’s integrated into the revised rear bonnet. Lamborghini notes that this shark fin will aid in the supercar’s cornering abilities as well as straighten airflow onto the rear wing. When viewed from the top, the rear wing, shark fin, and slotted engine bay cover are a sight to behold. While creating each of these exterior components, Lamborghini ensured that they were not only lightweight but also rigid. Naturally, they went with carbon fiber. More than 75 percent of the Huracan STO’s exterior panels are comprised of carbon fiber. In the end, the Huracan STO is not only incredibly light but its aerodynamic efficiency is increased by 37 percent over the Huracan Performante, and downforce is improved by 53 percent. Powering the Huracan STO is a naturally-aspirated V10 engine that produces 640 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels for a 0 to 62 mph time of three seconds and a top speed of 192.6 mph. That being said, it’s not the Huracan STO’s acceleration or top speed where it will shine, it’s on the track. Aiding the Lamborghini Huracan STO in its efforts on the track are three new ANIMA driving modes: STO, Trofeo, and Pioggia. The STO mode is meant for road driving and will be the go-to mode for everyday cruising. As for Trofeo, this mode will optimize all systems for the fastest lap times. Think of this mode as race mode. Then there’s Pioggia mode which is essentially rain mode as it optimizes all systems for wet asphalt. In the cabin where the modes can be selected is an interior that was designed with racing in mind. For the sake of weight, the sport seats are crafted out of carbon fiber, carpets were removed and replaced with carbon fiber floor mats, and even the door panels are made of carbon fiber. Just about everything is carbon fiber in the Huracan STO’s interior. Lamborghini also tapped Akrapovič for the rear arch that’s made of titanium allows and is 40 percent lighter than the standard stainless-steel arches. The new Lamborghini Huracan STO price is set at $327,838 with deliveries expected to start in Spring 2021. See All Lamborghinis For Sale
