UGR Lamborghini Smashes 1/2 Mile Record at 260 mph

Altitude is the great equalizer of supercars. Your Lamborghini might be fast, but it simply can't run well without oxygen. Any naturally aspirated car that runs great at sea level is seriously starved at high altitude. That's why the Pike's Peak hill climb and the Pike's Peak Airstrip Attack are dominated by turbocharged and supercharged cars.Underground Racing Twin Turbo V10 Audi R8 Lamborghini Huracan Smash RecordsThe team from Underground Racing battled their competitors in a Lamborghini Huracan Performante. It has the patented active aerodynamic system to keep the car glued to the track. The problem is that aerodynamics need air to work. Elevation at the Colorado Springs airport is almost 6,190 feet above sea level. So this effectively negates any fancy spoilers or downforce itself. Nevertheless, UGR beat their previous time of 257 with a new 1/2 mile record of 259.67 miles per hour. The lack of air contributed to high-speed traction issues, so it took careful tuning to keep the driver and the engine safe.  Thanks for the 1320 video team for covering the event, and stay with us for all your Lamborghini news.Browse Lamborghini Huracan Performante For Sale

Rumor: Lamborghini Aventador SVJ To Be Unveiled at Monterey

Monterey car week has something for everyone, and Lamborghini owners are in luck this year. According to NDTV, the Aventador SVJ and SVJ Roadster will make their formal debut at the car show. Pulling a page from their history book, the Lamborghini Jota was a Miura. Losing 800 lbs, it was built to meet the FIA's Appendix J rules, but the prototype crashed and burned.New Mystery Lamborghini Aventador Spied, Looks BrutalTaking lessons learned building the Jota, the Miura SV/J was a series of 7 racing Miuras aimed at motorsports. Next was the Diablo SE30 Jota. Built for their customer "Squadra Corse" program, only 12 to 15 models were delivered. To pay respect to factory-built race cars of the past, the 2012 Aventador J was a wild concept. We've seen photos and footage of the new prototype, and it looks to be based on the Aventador SV, with the Ferrari 812 in its crosshairs.Lamborghini patented active aerodynamics on the Huracan Performante so this might be the logical extension of that technology on to their flagship model. The Jota name has always appeared near the end of the model run, so this also means a successor to the Aventador is in the works. If you don't need 800 horsepower, our dealers have plenty of Aventadors to choose from. Jay Leno's 1969 Espada

Lamborghini's Design Chief on Driving the Espada

Mitja Borkert is the Head of Design at Lamborghini. That title carries a ton of weight considering his predecessors. Names like Bertone and Horacio Pagani have also been responsible for the famous raging bulls. Maybe this is just a coincidence, but for the 2nd time in a week, Lamborghini has mentioned the Espada.Lamborghini Marzal in Public for 1st Time Since 1967Last week we covered the Marzal, the concept that was shown in Monaco 50 years ago. Most of its wild features led to the production of the Espada, and the design is just as stunning today. We rarely believe in coincidence, especially when any of VW's subsidiaries are involved. With the recent introduction of the Urus, Lamborghini is becoming as bold as ever, so maybe a new Espada is in the works? A proper 2+2 with wild lines would be an amazing addition to their lineup. Lamborghini Marzal in Public for 1st Time Since 1967

Last weekend in Monaco, vintage Formula 1 cars, and their drivers gathered for the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique. A Lamborghini owner decided to shock the crowds with a blast from the past. The Marzal was debuted there 50 years ago, and it made a triumphal entry with Prince Albert behind the wheel. In the press release, Lamborghini says the car was only driven in public once before, by his parents Princess Grace & her husband when they paced the field in the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix. This stunning concept was Bertone's idea of the future. Ferruccio Lamborghini asked for their help to build a 4-seater, and it is clear to see how it influenced the Espada. Since it turned 50 years old this year, a 1968 Espada was also part of the festivities. For many years the Marzal remained at Bertone's headquarters until it was sold for $2 Million in 2011. If you enjoy the clean lines of this concept, we always keep a nice supply of Espadas for sale. Lamborghini Centenario Recalled for Interesting Reason

Cars can be recalled for just about anything, ranging from very serious to very minute issues. Today, we're here to talk about a very small issue that has led to the recall of one of the most expensive hypercars, the Lamborghini Centenario. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued a recall for the 2017 Centenario Coupe and Roadster in order to have a sticker replaced (thanks to Jalopnik for spotting this one). Yup, that's it. A sticker. But what sticker? Apparently, the certification label on 11 Centenarios has an incorrect weight limit printed on them which could lead the car to be overloaded.Lamborghini Centenario owners can head to their dealers to have a corrected certification label installed for free.

Lamborghini Aventador Specs, Price, & Photos

Celebrities will tell you it's lonely at the top, but such is not the case with the Lamborghini Aventador. Their flagship model, it arrived in 2012 as the successor to the Murcielago. With such a sinister appearance and significant V12 power, it has been a success by all measures. Blowing everyone away, the 5,000th Aventador was built in early 2016. What began as a 700 horsepower coupe has spawned a lineup including roadster versions of the base model, the Aventador Super Veloce, and the Aventador S. They are all great cars. However, the focus of today is the first version. Lamborghini Aventador Production To build the one-piece carbon-fiber cockpit requires a giant mold. Workers apply each layer by hand, making sure the resin permeates each strand. After that, the monocoque is vacuum bagged to remove any air pockets, because they would cause imperfections when fired. Then each body is rolled into a giant Autoclave to be cured. Each of the molds is only capable of 500 cars before it wears out. So initially Lamborghini Aventador specs show 8 molds were assembled, to limit production to 4,000 cars. Chris Brown’s “The Dark Knight” Aventador Before & After Once it is removed from the kiln, Lamborghini Aventador specs the cockpit weighs in less than 385 lbs. The front and rear suspensions are bolted directly to it, making it one of the strongest cars on the road. To make it comfortable, it was the first time Lamborghini mounted the suspension inboard, using bellcranks to reduce unsprung weight. When completed, an Aventador coupe chassis measures in at only 506 lbs. For comparison, this is 75 lbs lighter than a cast-iron small-block V8. Lamborghini Aventador Engine A new way of building cars also deserves a new engine. The original V12 was the first engine built by Lamborghini. Engineered by Bizzarini and Dallara in 1963, it was finally put out to pasture in 2010 to make way for a younger & meaner bull. A twelve-cylinder, four-stroke engine achieves 2nd order balance at 60 degrees. Therefore it was one parameter left untouched. Engineers had several goals to accomplish with the new engine. Above all was horsepower. The best way to make reliable horsepower is high rpm. In this case, they used an over-square design. A short-stroke and large bore is how the Aventador is able to scream above 8,000 rpm. In fact, the intake and exhaust camshafts are variable with the result that torque can be instantly added when the accelerator is angered. While the heads, block, and dry-sump oil pan are aluminum, the cylinder is cast iron to handle immense power. Lamborghini Aventador Interior In contrast to Lamborghini Aventador specs of the past, the Aventador can be quite comfortable. A few turns of a spanner wrench will allow adjustment of the Ohlins coil-overs. This will make the car smooth even over broken pavement. The center console and the switches are symmetrical, and the screen has an integrated backup camera. For the most part, visibility is above average for cars in this class. The Lamborghini Aventador: A Revolution in Automotive Design Entry and exit take place under the raised scissor doors, and their smooth hydraulic action draws a crowd in any situation. The roof height of a Lamborghini Aventador specs out at just under 45", and for that reason, it has bright LED running lights to keep traffic alerted to your presence. For the most part, Lamborghini Aventador specs the interior with leather and microfiber. In the same way, the contrasting fabrics help to add depth to the small cockpit, on the whole, they keep temperatures down on sunny days. Lamborghini Aventador Specs: Horsepower: 690 hp Torque: 509 lb-ft 0-60 MPH: 2.9 Seconds 0-100 MPH: 6.4 Seconds 60-0 Braking: 100 ft 1/4 Mile: 10.6 Seconds @ 137 MPH Top Speed: 217 MPH Weight: 3,473 lbs Production: 5,200+ As can be seen in Lamborghini Aventador photos, there is no traditional shifter for the 7-speed transmission. Known as ISR, the independent shifting rods are controlled by the computer to shift gears in 50 milliseconds. It is tuned to follow separate shift points depending on the driving mode selected. However, you can take control of the shift paddles without delay. Instead of a shifter, Lamborghini Aventador specs the interior with buttons for neutral and reverse, together with an independent parking brake. If the key fob is in your pocket, to start the engine Lamborghini specs the parking brake be set, your foot must be on the main brake, so that a 3-second hold of the start button primes the fuel and engages the starter. Of course, other controls are easily handled by drivers or passengers in the same fashion. The starter button is hidden under a red switch guard. It is precisely weighted to give you a sense of the power you have at your command. Bringing the switch into view is like holding the launch codes for a nuclear missile, the fate of civilization is in your hands. Lamborghini Aventador Legacy Since it has been in production for some years now, on the whole, the Lamborghini Aventador specs have changed how supercars are measured. In reality, it is a car that outshines any other, so everyone is wondering how it will be surpassed. Surely we must be at the limits of naturally aspirated power, now that incremental gains are seen as monumental. To this end, the Avendator must be on your bucket list. Your life before experiencing the Lamborghini Aventador specs in person will simply fade away. What's more, you will have a newfound appreciation for driving. Your life after the experience will be much more rewarding. So why wait? Click the link below and get ready for the ride of a lifetime. View Lamborghini Aventador For Sale

2018 Lamborghini L595 Zagato Is A Blast From The Past

Four years ago, the famous styling house of Zagato decided to work their magic on the Lamborghini Gallardo. The 595 coupe was intended to be a one-of-one build for a wealthy collector. It was unveiled at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Esta 2014, and the public demanded an encore. We've heard rumors that 3 to 5 examples were built, so we were shocked to see a topless version appear on their page this morning.Lamborghini hasn't produced a Gallardo in years, but that doesn't mean Zagato hasn't been waiting for the right time to release a roadster. We don't yet know if the L595 will have a cloth top or simply none at all. Either way, it will be the most coveted Gallardo on the market, so we'll have all the details once they become available. Until then, click the link below to find your own Gallardo and tell us what you think of Zagato's designs in the comments below Browse Lamborghini Gallardo For Sale Lamborghini 595 Zagato Coupe Gallery

Story of a Crashed Rental Lamborghini Huracan

Accidents in the car rental business are an inevitability. Fender benders and trading paint in airport parking lots support an entire industry of body repair shops. But things change in the world of exotic car rentals. A series of unfortunate circumstances befell a tourist who decided to rent a Lamborghini Huracan in Las Vegas.Lamborghini Huracan Embedded With 1.3 Million Swarovski CrystalsIn the latest YouTube video uploaded by VINwiki, Will relates his cautionary tale of an early morning Starbucks run. Much like last week's video regarding meeting your heroes in person, he has always been enamored by Lamborghini. After striking up a conversation with the rental agency, they decided to give him a deal he couldn't refuse on a stunning yellow Huracan. But this was not an ordinary LP610-4. Instead of All Wheel Drive, he rented the RWD LP580-2.Wheels & Wardrobe: Lamborghini Huracan SpyderThere is a reason Lamborghini builds AWD cars, and that is you need to be an expert driver to handle this level of power if it is RWD only. It doesn't matter how advanced your stability, ABS, or traction control systems are. A big V10 powering only the rear wheels is like tap dancing in a minefield, it's not if you will lose control, it's when. The LP610-4 has the fastest center differential of any production car so it will grip until you blackout from G-force. Once you break the rear loose on the LP580-2, you better snap into drift mode because you have just poked a raging bull who is always looking for a fight. Lamborghini Urus: All-Roads Competition

If you thought the new Lamborghini Urus is just a pretty face, think again. Autocar is reporting that the Italian automaker is planning a series of competitions for their new SUV. CEO Stefano Domenicali said: Lamborghini welcomes challenges, but whatever we do will be quite different from other brands. We will choose a form of competition intended only for our class of vehicle. Our car has many faces. You can enjoy its beauty, it is very fast on the track, very fast off road and very fast on gravel. We will choose something that combines all of these things.”Lamborghini Urus Delivered in California to O’Gara Coach La JollaTheir corporate cousins at Bentley are planning to send their Bentayga up Pikes Peak with Rhys Millen at the wheel.
