Starting with over 23,000 applicants, the inaugural Defender Trophy competition saw participants from every imaginable walk of life, including firefighters, filmmakers, and even astronauts. In ten regional events, competitors proved their ability to drive off-road, as well as complete navigational, physical, and engineering challenges to earn their places as National Winners. Now, as the competition's Global Final stage approaches later this year in Africa, the finalists have been announced.
Hosted in partnership with Tusk, the final stage of the inaugural Defender Trophy will combine competition with impactful conservation efforts. Marking the legendary British off-roading brand’s return to global competition, Defender Trophy honors the cherished roots of the historic name, using its go-anywhere ethos to serve a meaningful purpose.
The epic adventure will span over 1,800 miles and take place through three countries. With five projects as part of the Global Final, Defender Trophy Global Finalists will provide real support in conservation efforts alongside Tusk. About the upcoming competition, Paddy McGillycuddy, Global Managing Director of Defender, commented, “This is a new era for Defender, creating a new epic adventure inspired by the legacy of Trophy events of the past. The Global Final is a celebration of everyone who has been a part of Defender Trophy so far. Our finalists are courageous and ambitious, with a desire to give back and make a difference.
