Since its founding by engineer Colin Chapman back in 1948, Lotus Cars has always operated under the pretense of honoring traditional British motorsport heritage under its “simplify, then add lightness” design philosophy. It began with the very first racecar Chapman built in a London garage and continues today as the brand evolves its lineup with modern marvels like the Emira. Today, Lotus is proud to reveal its next chapter of performance, honoring the philosophy that built the manufacturer by introducing the new Emira 420 Sport as the most powerful, lightest, and most aerodynamically capable Emira ever built. With a $122,900 starting price, Lotus’ latest variant aims to represent the pinnacle of the Emira lineup and its Focus 2030 strategy, listening to its customers to further improve its sports cars while emphasizing personalization.Starting with the exterior, the Emira 420 Sport shows off new visual updates, including a new front splitter, redesigned front vents, extended side skirts, larger air intakes, a rear lip spoiler, and a louvered tailgate. These key changes support better airflow and cooling throughout the car, increasing air flow to radiators by 15%, brake cooling by 10%, and exhaust valve airflow by 30%, translating to longer track sessions no matter the demanding conditions. Ride height is lowered by 5mm over the standard Emira for better steering precision and balance, which is also achieved thanks to a revised double-wishbone suspension, electro-hydraulic steering, and new performance tires. For those looking to take the Emira 420 Sport to the next level, Lotus will also be offering owners an optional Lightweight Handling Pack. The package promises more than 55lbs of weight savings and 55lbs of downforce over the standard Emira Turbo, adding even more aero and cooling for better overall performance. An exterior carbon package also re-styles the exterior with carbon fiber upgrades to the front splitter, side skirts, wheel arch vents, side pods, rear spoiler, and diffuser. The interior also gets two upgrade options, including a Carbon Fibre Pack that adds lightweight trim throughout the cabin and a Hand Painted Pack that brings pops of Tangelo Orange detailing to areas like the steering wheel, center console, gear lever, and air vents. At the rear, the Lotus Emira 420 Sport is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 415 horsepower, making it the most powerful Emira in the lineup. It accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 186mph. The all-new lightweight, lightning-fast Lotus Emira 420 Sport is now available for order through authorized dealers, with customer deliveries expected for August 2026.
