McLaren Headquarters Sold For $236 Million

They've outgrown the old facilities The massive McLaren Headquarters takes up a large chunk of the countryside in Surrey. Two years ago, Texas made them an offer they couldn't refuse, so a majority of workers are now in Dallas. As reported by The Guardian, the old buildings were the brainchild of Ron Dennis, and they allowed the F1 teams to stay on top of innovation and performance for decades. This comes on the heels of our introduction to the Artura by McLaren Tampa Bay, so they are definitely doing things right. Bruce is looking down with a smile, knowing full well his company now has a cash injection and an indefinite lease from the new owners. Land in England is at a premium due to the size of the United Kingdom, so we applaud this move by the automaker. Click the button to find your next supercar! What Makes the McLaren Artura So Fast?

Science, electromagnets? Ever since Bruce McLaren sold his first supercar, it had a powerful V8 behind the driver. Times change and big power can now be had from six cylinders along with high voltage, so what makes the McLaren Artura so fast? Their latest press release describes the powertrain in detail, starting with a wide-angle V6. Because every other V6 engine fires at 60 or 90 degrees, McLaren chose something all-new. Opening the V of the engine to 120 degrees makes it resemble a flat-six and allows room for twin turbos. It wouldn't be worth it with the same old transmission, so a new 8-speed was introduced. Between them is the coup de grâce, an axial flux electric motor/generator. This compact brushless beast is tied to a 7.4 kWh battery, and it allows the Artura to run consistent quarter-mile times in the low 10s. We all know McLaren underrates their cars, and officially this hybrid hypercar is listed to have 531 lb-ft of torque and 680 horsepower. So you will have the same torque as the P1 with the ability to drive 19 miles on the battery and without a heavy price. The Artura represents the future of high performance, so click the button to order yours and stay with us for all your McLaren news. Browse McLaren Artura For Sale Images (C) McLaren Automotive

McLaren Artura Engineering & Design Q&A With Superfans

This is what makes the Artura unlike anything else All great cars should be explained by the people who build them. While some supercars are the product of enigmatic personalities, McLaren's talented team is very approachable. Therefore the brains responsible for the new Artura took time to answer questions from fans around the world. The styling is distinctly McLaren while looking forward to a new generation. Perhaps the most enticing feature of the McLaren Artura is the lower rear deck. Because the engine fires at 120 degrees, it allows the rear profile to be much lower than the 90-degree V8. You might also notice the controls for aerodynamics and suspension have moved from the center console to the instrument cluster. This binnacle allows for instant changes to most systems without distractions. It is the most driver-focused car to-date, and also among the lightest. At 3,303 lbs it is lighter than the P1 while offering a more competent hybrid system. You will have 19 miles of battery range along with 671 horsepower. Of course, these facts and figures aren't worth as much as the reasoning behind them, so tell us your favorite aspect of the new Artura in the comments below. Final Mclaren 620R Deliveries Mark the End of The Sports ...

All good things must come to an end, so the McLaren Sports Series is going out on top We have lived, laughed, and loved together with the McLaren Sports Series, and the final 620R deliveries mark the end of their sports series. It's hard to believe the 570S arrived six years ago. Since then, their entry-level lineup has enticed many new owners who had never considered owning a supercar. The 570GT added practicality and the 600LT was a Long Tail that could also be a daily driver. The carbon fiber chassis that underpinned them all had a great run. It is still years ahead of the competition, but McLaren strives for excellence in every detail. Therefore, the 620R arrives with a whopping 611 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. This is also the end of the line for their bulletproof 3.8-liter V8, so it was endowed with the same hardcore parts as the 570S GT4. All cars are loaded with MSO content inside and out. It is lower, wider, and louder than any of its Sports Series predecessors, and each car has exposed carbon for the roof scoop, cantrails, and aerodynamics that generate 408 lbs of downforce. Only 225 cars were built for the world, with 70 in the U.S. specification. It deserves a place in your collection so click the button below. Shop McLaren 620R Images (C) McLaren Automotive

Watch Daniel Ricciardo Drift The New Hybrid McLaren Artura

The highly-anticipated McLaren Artura is the manufacturer’s newest high-performance hybrid supercar, which makes a combined 671-horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. McLaren enlisted the help of team F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo for his thoughts on-track in the Artura. Ricciardo explains the importance of using the perfect line to set the best lap time, while also carrying a smoke-filled drift throughout the sweeping turns. It goes to show that when developing the Artura, McLaren focused on creating not only a high-performance hybrid but also a truly versatile machine that can perform in all settings. Although the sounds from the twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder are best described as music to your ears, the full electric mode also plays a fun role as Daniel quietly cools down the Artura on its final lap. Based on the smiles and laughter coming from Daniel during his drive, it’s clear that the McLaren Artura will be a blast on any road or track. Watch Daniel Ricciardo enjoy the McLaren Artura on track by clicking the video link above. Why You Should Buy a McLaren Artura

Aside from great looks and a catchy name, allow us to explain why you should buy a McLaren Artura. Staying ahead of the world in street-legal technology, we have to applaud the brand for offering every technical detail of their new supercar. We now live in an age where hybrid technology is very potent. I have driven the McLaren P1, LaFerrari, and the Porsche 918; and they simply make more power than you could ever use on the street. That's why this new V6 makes so much sense. Separating the cylinder heads by 120 degrees essentially flattens the engine, keeping weight very low in the chassis. It also a six cylinders at 120 degree also makes it perfectly balanced. The latest in battery technology offers nearly 20 miles of electric cruising, and 50 mpg. More than just offering an amazing car, it is backed by a 10 year body warranty, 6 year battery, and 5 years of roadside. The cherry on top is that the most popular options are no-cost. The Practicality Pack combines front lift, power heated mirrors, park assist, and soft close. Android and CarPlay are also standard, all for $225,000. Competitors are hard at work trying to get their six-cylinder supercars to make sense, but they won't be nearly this affordable. Tell us what you think of the Artura in the comments below. McLaren Scientist

McLaren Scientist Awarded 'Young Woman Engineer of the Year'

Ella Podmore spends her days pushing the boundaries of composites. Since 2016 she has been critical to the successes of the Elva, 765LT and the Artura, and this McLaren scientist has been awarded 'Young Woman Engineer of the Year' by the Institution of Engineering and Technology. Her ongoing quest to make their cars lighter and stronger is also seen on the small scale, as she can be seen miniaturizing the Senna GTR for Lego. The IET judges were impressed by her dedication, charisma, and personality as it inspires more women to follow in her footsteps. “Huge congratulations to Ella from myself and everyone at McLaren. Ella’s passion for her work clearly shone through to the IET and the judges and it makes her such an inspiring ambassador for others who want to follow in her footsteps. “For a company like ours, diversity is vital to maintain and boost the innovation culture which helps us to challenge ourselves and come up with new solutions and technologies to enable and deliver the exciting products that our customers want.”Mandeep Dhatt, Executive Director of HR, McLaren Automotive Used McLaren For Sale Image (C) McLaren Automotive

Hennessey 765LT Arrives With 1,000 Horsepower

Relentless testing is how they offer such potent cars, and it also allows the Hennessey 765LT to arrive with 1,000 horsepower. The prototype made use of new downpipes that remove a chokepoint after the turbos. They spool up much faster to reach 60 mph in 2.1 seconds. Even with a full tank, the 765LT is just under 3,000 lbs. This gives it a better power-to-weight ratio than an F-22 Raptor. It is their fastest and most powerful McLaren ever offered, and the comprehensive package is only $24,950. Perfection can always be improved on, so click the button to learn more. Learn More
