Why You Should Buy a McLaren P1

Hybrid supercars are state of the art, and McLaren beat everyone else to the punch. Their P1 began production in 2013 and literally shocked the world with its potent power. They were the first to realize that electric power can be more than just a means to save gasoline.Normal hybrids have electric motors and batteries that are better suited to golf carts than automobiles, but McLaren paired their 3.8L V8 with twin turbochargers to make 727 hp along with enough voltage to add another 176 hp. This potent combination allows the supercar to beat the best cars in the world while burning less fuel than the competition. Since the electric drive makes almost 200 lb-ft of torque, the P1 can be driven on battery alone if you require a stealthy exit. After a full day of electric cruising, you could potentially use the V8 to charge the system. The batteries reach a full charge in 2 hours--- just in time to swap the street tires for a set of race slicks and hit the track. Like all their predecessors, the P1 has no sway bars. The computer takes care of roll control, keeping you flat in the corners in order to lap your competition. The MP4 and 650S also use this system so if you haven’t driven a recent McLaren, you will be amazed at how each corner of the car stays planted to the pavement. Documentaries from the 50’s told us that this technology was coming, but once again McLaren did it first.McLaren P1 SpecsThere's always a price to be paid by early adopters, but the only real problem was the limited production. Only 375 cars were built, so if you take yours out on the weekend you probably won’t see another one. The supercar has a standard EV charging port so if you stay out of the accelerator you won’t need to awaken the V8. Should you need to overtake the fastest production cars ever made, the P1 is the most sensible choice. You'll be at 60 mph in well under 3 seconds and on your way to a top speed of 220 mph. You don’t need to be Italian or German to have this much fun. Building world dominating race car is still McLaren’s top priority, but we're glad they chose to share some of that technology in their street-legal cars. These cars may be rare, but selling exotic cars is what we love to do. How To Configure Your McLaren 600LT

Configurators are the best computer software since the Oregon Trail. You chart your own course, and you are rewarded at the end. Around here, each one of us likes to build their ideal car and this time it was my turn. Staying true to our corporate colors, it was time to see just how attractive McLaren's new 600LT can be.Starting with a body of Vermillion Red, the stock silver 5-spoke wheels had to go. I chose 10-spoke forged rollers in a 2-tone black and machined finish. Then it was an easy choice between the "normal" Pirelli P-Zero, or their new P-Zero Trofeo R. The new design was created exclusively for the 600LT. It has a softer sidewall and stronger steel belts that are tuned to the car's suspension.Next, it was time for carbon fiber wonderland. The ultimate package is level 3. It includes the mirrors,. rocker panels, front and rear bumpers, spoilers, fender vents and the giant rear diffuser.Composites are addicting, so we splurged a few thousand dollars more for the roof, engine cover, and fixed rear spoiler. The exhaust tips are anodized black for a nice contrast against the flames it will spew under wide-open throttle. All McLaren cars are built as convertibles before the roof is added. The interior configurator page looks to be a wild roadster version that would look incredible, but it is only used to mock up our choices. I may be getting old, but microfiber is just another name for cloth interior. I am not a vegetarian, so I prefer my cars to have all-natural hides. Microfiber doesn't age well and I would prefer to be held in place by bolsters instead of fabric. I went without the extra carbon interior pieces because of gloss interior parts create a disco effect at night. Any way you choose to spec your 600LT, it will be capable of blistering performance. So stay with us for all your McLaren updates.Find Your McLaren Here

McLaren Unveils the 600LT: Faster and Lighter

The wait is over, and the weight is under. McLaren's new Long Tail is the lightest sports series to-date. After declaring war on obesity the 600LT is 211 lbs lighter than the DIN weight of the 570S Coupe. Inspired by the F1 GTR Longtail and the 675LT, the longer rear bodywork helps to control the low-pressure area that forms behind all cars.Deadmau5 is Getting a McLaren SennaAlmost 23% of the parts are new compared to the 570S. The engine has been dialed up to 592 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque, but everyone knows those numbers are very conservative. A confidential source tells us they flog their engines in the worst conditions possible to simulate hot laps and endurance racing, then they are strapped to the dyno for a real-world test. Top-exit exhaust saves weight by simply aiming the catalytic converters at the sky. McLaren Special Operations has optional vented fenders and a unique roof panel. All of their optional featherweight panels offer a dry weight of 2,749 lbs. Incredible considering it still has all the creature comforts of a daily driver. Sure the interior is a bit spartan, but just like General Kalashnikov said: "All that is complex is useless". So this Alcantara and carbon fiber interior is the AK47 of supercars. The press release from McLaren says it will be a limited run, and US pricing will be confirmed at a later date. McLaren Senna Makes North America Debut at E3

The McLaren Senna had its North American debut at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), thanks to its starring role on the cover of "Forza Horizon 4." This comes after the McLaren P1TM made its debut at E3 2013 because of its appearance on the cover of "Forza Motorsport 5."“We are delighted to be working so closely with Microsoft on their Forza racing franchise," says Jolyon Nash, Executive Director of Global Sales & Marketing for McLaren Automotive."Videogames are now so realistic and our relationship with Forza has been a powerful tool both to grow brand awareness and show what makes McLaren cars so special.”Most of the world will not get a chance to sit behind the wheel of a Senna in real-life and take it for a spin, but thanks to Forza Horizon 4 you can do it virtually. This means you'll "virtually" drive the 789 bhp supercar around the British setting of the video game, racing it in various biomes, weather conditions and terrains. Heck, you could take it off-road if you wanted to, though you shouldn't expect to hold any traction in such an instance."Forza Horizon 4" will be released on October 2, 2018 for the Xbox One and Windows PC.Pre-Order Now

McLaren Puts The Senna On A Roof

If you have been behaving this year, you might hear a commotion on your rooftop come Christmas time. But our wish is not for Santa, we want Senna Claus. McLaren has a tradition of placing their creations above all others- literally. If you want everyone to take notice of the 720S, put it on the roof. Because the McLaren Senna only weighs 2,641 lbs, much less than many commercial A/C units. So they didn't need heavy equipment to get it in place. Shared on Instagram and their official Facebook page, it also mentions it is the most expensive car they have ever lifted. I understand their logic, I also shop for cars in unique situations, but my purchases are on blocks instead of hotels. 2018 McLaren Senna Specs, Price, Photos & Review If you are in the market for something unique, the Senna arrives with 789 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It reflects Ayrton Senna's dedication to performance and innovation, which allowed him to win 3 Drivers' Championships and four consecutive World Constructors' Championships, oh and 35 Grand Prix races for Team McLaren. If you want to experience a more sensible version, our dealers have great incentives on the McLaren 720S, on which the Senna is based. McLaren Teases More of Mystery Model

McLaren has, again, teased a new model that looks to be a 570S variant. The new tease comes with an image, as well as some additional information. The new model will be unveiled online on June 28 and in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. As for the new image, we see a pair of exhaust pipes that are exiting out of the top and rear of the engine bay. We've yet to see a modern McLaren with this type of exhaust, as most have exhaust exiting directly out of the rear. One car you may be familiar with that has a similar exhaust setup is the Porsche 918 Spyder, which has exhaust exiting behind the driver and passenger seats.McLaren Teases a New SupercarThis new model will have increased power, a lighter weight, better aerodynamics, and "enhanced driver engagement." Production of the car will also be very limited.McLaren will be taking the mystery car for a drive up the famous Goodwood Hill Climb on July 12. After it's unveiling, McLaren will have unveiled five models under the Track22 business plan.

McLaren Teases a New Supercar

McLaren Automotive is currently in the process of teasing a new supercar. The tagline for this tease campaign is: "The edge is calling." But...what in the world is it going to be?Well, it's too early to tell what the car will exactly be, but in a video that teases the car, we get a glimpse of the car's taillight. From this shot alone we can tell that it will more than likely be a 570S variant. Even though the shot is sort, there are a number of things I noticed. First of all, the tailpipe is missing. In a standard 570S, the tailpipe sits on the outer edge of the rear, right above the rear diffuser. I expect to see the exhaust centrally located like the 675LT or 720S. Also, there's a new air vent that's been added right behind the rear wheel. This points to more aero components that will be found across the body of the car.McLaren Reveals Gulf Livery MSO 675LT of your DreamsWe're more than likely looking at a more aggressive and "super" take on the 570S. I'd compare it to the Huracan upgrading to the Huracan Performante. To finish off the tease, McLaren has this to say: "Brace yourself for that moment. When it’s just you. The car. Raw and uncompromised. Calling you. Total focus. Pure adrenaline. This is the moment to push yourself. To the very edge."What if it's called the 570S Edge? What are your thoughts? Full-Size Lego McLaren 720S Weighs More than Real Car

The world has been building with LEGO bricks for decades, creating incredible sculptures that range from tiny cars to the massive 1:1 scale model of a McLaren 720S. Yes, McLaren took 280,000+ individual LEGO bricks and created a replica supercar that's true to size. What's more, they had the help of museum visitors who placed the final orange bricks on the car during its debut at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles over the past weekend. Now that each brick has been placed, the sculpture weighs in 3,200 lbs. Compare that the weight of the real-like McLaren 720S (2,828 lbs) and you have a decent amount of difference. Just imagine if those bricks were made of carbon fiber! It should be mentioned that the bricks were placed around a steel frame, which did add some weight.McLaren Reveals Gulf Livery MSO 675LT of your DreamsTo create this masterpiece, it took a team of six different LEGO professional builders-- yes, they exist and, yes, I want that job-- over 2,000 hours to build the replica car. What's interesting is that it takes a real-life 720S only 12 working days to be created. The Peterson Automotive Museum will be displaying the LEGO McLaren 720S until August 19th on their second floor. Guests are also invited to come and customize their own mini LEGO Speed Champions McLaren 720S while visiting. And if you haven't been, it's definitely worth a visit!McLaren 650S for Sale
