The Electrified Longtail: Best McLaren Speedtails For Sale Today

The McLaren Speedtail stands out as a beacon of innovation in the hypercar industry, an example of McLaren's relentless pursuit of automotive excellence. This hybrid hypercar is a piece of rolling art, crafted for the collector who appreciates the perfect blend of speed, luxury, and groundbreaking design. Let's talk numbers – the Speedtail is a symphony of power, showcasing a electrified powertrain that delivers a staggering 1,035 horsepower. Its top speed? An eye-watering 250 mph, making it one of the fastest production cars ever built. Exclusivity is another hallmark of the Speedtail. With only 106 units produced, it's a rare gem amongst prominent collectors prepared to spend the seven-figures to secure the thrill of a lifetime. Its scarcity, paired with its motorsport-inspired design and engineering, makes the Speedtail a prime candidate for investment-grade collector status. Its value isn't just in its performance but in its potential to appreciate over time. In the realm of the automotive industry, the McLaren Speedtail is a symbol of what happens when boundaries are pushed and dreams are turned into reality. We at duPont REGISTRY are proud to feature the largest selection of McLaren Speedtails for sale thanks to our extensive network of passionate and knowledgable dealerships. View all the McLaren Speedtails featured in this special by clicking the links below for more information. How expensive is a McLaren Speedtail? The McLaren Speedtail is definitely on the pricier side of the hypercar spectrum, as you might expect for such a sleek and high-performance machine. Brand new, it set buyers back around $2.25 million, depending on the customization options chosen at the time. It's a limited-production model, so its rarity can also drive up the price on the resale market.  Is McLaren Speedtail legal in US? The McLaren Speedtail is an absolute stunner but, unfortunately, it's not street legal in the US straight out of the box. The reason lies in its design choices that don't quite meet specific U.S. safety standards, like its unique central driving position and lack of side-mounted airbags. However, owners can bring one stateside under the "Show or Display" exemption. This allows them to own and even drive the car legally, but with some limitations on mileage and use. So, while you can have a Speedtail in the US, it's a bit of a process and comes with a few strings attached! How fast can the McLaren Speedtail go? The McLaren Speedtail can sprint all the way up to a jaw-dropping top speed of 250 mph. Not only is it quick, but it's also McLaren’s fastest production car ever. So, if you’re looking to zip past pretty much anything on the road (or track), the Speedtail has got you covered. 2020 McLaren Speedtail View Listing 2020 McLaren Speedtail View Listing 2020 McLaren Speedtail View Listing 2020 McLaren Speedtail View Listing Buy Searching for a McLaren Speedtail to buy? duPont REGISTRY has hundreds of Porsches for sale right now, including some of the rarest McLaren Speedtails ever created. This New Custom Guitar Is Inspired By The McLaren Speedtail

Discover how Dean Gordon Guitars crafted a one-of-a-kind guitar inspired by McLaren's Speedtail XP2 prototype. When the worlds of hypercars and bespoke musical instruments collide, the result is nothing short of extraordinary. Take the McLaren Speedtail, a pinnacle of automotive engineering, for instance. Its ‘XP2’ prototype not only served as a key benchmark in the brand's history, but it also inspired Dean Gordon, a Miami-based luthier, to craft a custom guitar showcased at the 2023 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) show. The McLaren Speedtail burst onto the scene in 2018 as McLaren's first Hyper-GT. With its perfect blend of groundbreaking technologies and breathtaking aesthetics, it’s a marvel in the automotive world. Its XP2 prototype underwent intense validation tests, hitting a top speed of 250 mph over 30 times at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds’ space shuttle landing runway. The vehicle's exterior is finished in Saragon Quartz, a champagne hue that is as sophisticated as it is elegant. Step inside, and you're greeted by an Oxblood Red cabin furnished with full aniline leather and aniline nubuck, enhanced by machined aluminum trim and visual carbon fiber elements. Gordon selected his Virtus guitar model to pay homage to the Speedtail's design ethos. This headless guitar boasts an ergonomic and lightweight body crafted from old stock lightweight alder wood. The neck is master-grade flamed maple, and its lower horn is carved from aircraft-grade aluminum. The fretboard is crafted in Luxurious ebony wood. The Virtus guitar doesn’t just mimic the Speedtail’s appearance; it embodies its spirit. For instance, the guitar features a carbon fiber backplate, a hand-stitched leather lower horn cover, and interior wiring cavities decked in the XP2's signature Oxblood Red leather. But the attention to detail doesn't end there. The guitar’s Saragon Quartz-inspired finish pairs seamlessly with a black satin neck, accented by a carbon fiber laminate on the back of the headstock. Even the pickups bear a distinct resemblance to the Speedtail’s engine cover and rear details, thanks to laser etching. Additional red accents further tie the guitar to the XP2's exquisite interior. Limited to just 106 units, the Speedtail is McLaren's fastest car to date. With a top speed of 250 mph and unparalleled aerodynamic efficiency, it follows McLaren's guiding philosophy: functional design that tells a visual story. Just like the Speedtail, the Virtus guitar melds form and function, boasting a design inspired by the teardrop shape of the car, optimized for aerodynamic performance. Dean Gordon sums it up best: “McLaren being synonymous with cutting-edge design and pushing boundaries made it a no-brainer choice for inspiration for my 'Automotive' inspired line of guitars." The Speedtail was, indeed, the perfect muse, and this collaboration stands as a testament to the boundless possibilities that arise when luxury cars and custom musical craftsmanship intersect. mclaren speedtail albert 1

By Edward Jones –  August 04, 2021

McLaren Unveils MSO Speedtail Inspired by 1st Prototype, ...

Named after Albert Drive, which is where the McLaren F1 was designed and built in Woking, England. McLaren Beverly Hills commissioned a very special example of the McLaren Speedtail and we are finally seeing it as a completed hypercar. Named 'Albert', this one-of-a-kind Speedtail was given a completely bespoke treatment courtesy of McLaren Special Operations (MSO). The unique design found Albert was all done with purpose as it was inspired by the first attribute testing prototype Speedtail, which was also named 'Albert'. McLaren also named their 1992 F1 test mules Albert, a name that comes from their Albert Drive location in Woking, England where the original three-seater supercars were built. As you can see from the exterior, 'Albert' features very precise lines that mimic the airflow over the body which is similar to the 2018 vinyl camo wrap found on the original 'Albert' prototype. In order to create this visual, MSO had their work cut out for them. McLaren notes that 'Albert' spent 12 weeks at MSO post-build so that the intricate designs could be created and implemented. That includes two weeks worth of masking, six weeks of painting, and even more weeks for drying and reassembling. In total, just about two kilometers of fine tape was used to complete the design layout. Another interesting tidbit regarding the exterior of the 'Albert' Speedtail is the actual colors used for the exterior, Magnesium Silver and Ueno Grey. The Magnesium Silver paint was seen on the original McLaren F1 road car that was debuted at the 1992 Monaco Grand Prix, while Ueno Grey was the color of the F1 GTR that won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. McLaren Beverly Hills will be debuting the 'Albert' Speedtail at the Sunset GT event posted by O'Gara Beverly Hills on August 8th, 2021. Source: McLaren Automotive
