Mercedes-Benz Vision Tokyo Introduced at Tokyo Motor Show

The oldest among them is only 20 years old, but Mercedes-Benz is already targeting Generation Z with their latest introduction: the Vision Tokyo design study concept.Press previews for the Tokyo Motor Show kicked off today, with marques left and right unveiling their latest designs for international crowds gathered in the Japanese metropolis. Mercedes-Benz issued a press release today detailing their centerpiece for the show, with a slew of photos and a YouTube video giving us a virtual look at this car of the future. The Vision Tokyo, as it's being called, is the next evolution of the design-study showcars, which were first introduced in 2012 with the Vision Ener-G-Force at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The most recent car in that series that holds the most resemblance to the Vision Tokyo is the autonomous F 015 Luxury in Motion Research Vehicle, which was introduced at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show. The Vision Tokyo is also designed to be an autonomous vehicle, acting more as a luxury lounge than a car to drive. "Mercedes-Benz aims to show how the car of the future can be turned into a hip living space – a chill-out zone in the midst of megacity traffic mayhem," describes the release. The idea of a car acting as customizable luxury lounge is similar to Nissan's Teatro for Dayz concept, which focuses more heavily on an integrated user experience geared toward entertaining passengers as they travel from "a" to "b."It's through designing cars for the newest generation that these manufacturers hope to jump to the forefront of the inevitable transportation revolution; traffic is becoming increasingly congested in cities, traditional driver's cars are being viewed as unsustainable and cars are looking more and more like large electronics than gas-powered beasts to tame."The role of the vehicle has changed for this global generation: it is no longer simply a means of getting around, but a digital, automobile companion," described Mercedes-Benz, speaking to the growth of software integration in vehicles. Electric vehicles are increasingly popular, as are cars with wireless hotspots, 4G connectivity, app integration and Bluetooth abilities. But the coolest part about the Vision Tokyo concept is its use of LED screens and holograms. Particularly the holograms. Apps, maps and displays will be displayed as 3D holograms in the center of the console, and will be used through touch activation.(See Also: Bugatti Veyron Demolishes Mercedes-AMG GT S Despite Head Start)This is the car the of the future, no doubts about it.Check out the photos of this insane new concept, then find one of Mercedes-Benz's more traditional designs for your collection from our exclusive listings at the button below.Mercedes-Benzs For SaleGallery (via Mercedes-Benz, YouTube) See More Mercedes-Benz News

Jay Leno Drives the Rare Mercedes-Benz C111 Concept Car

Back in the 1960s and 1970s, Mercedes-Benz went through an experimental phase centered around the C111. With this car, they tested new engines, suspensions, aerodynamics and more in order to better improve their production models.C111s were quite famous for being fitted with different engines, including Wankel, diesel and turbocharged engines. One of the most notorious C111s was the C111-III, which housed a straight-5 turbodiesel engine. This engine was enough to power the car up to 200 mph, quite the feat for a car back in the '70s.(Also Read: Unlikely Drag Race: Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 vs Porsche 918 Spyder)Recently, Constantin von Kageneck from the Mercedes-Benz Classics Center brought the C111-II, a predecessor of the C111-III, over to Jay Leno's Garage. Leno was delighted at the sight of the Wankel-engined, fiberglass concept car. But who wouldn't be? The car itself is in great condition, thanks to proper care from Mercedes-Benz, and it's such a rare model. The full video of von Kageneck's visit and Leno's drive was uploaded to YouTube Oct. 18 for us all to view. You'll most certainly learn a lot of facts and insight about the car by watching the video below.(Source: YouTube) More Mercedes-Benz News

GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC, W166, 2015A press release issued by the German manufacturer today shares the introduction of the GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC, an SUV that can achieve almost anything a sports saloon can. The GLE's V6 engine has been cranked up to further produce more power, and particularly more torque, while other AMG features have made their way into its handling and suspension.A total of 367 hp and 383.5 lb-ft propel this five-seater to 62 mph from a standstill in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed maxing out at 155 mph. Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 Off Roading on Beach

Imagine you have a Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 sitting in your garage, right now. What do you do? Take it off-roading, of course. To see what you'd be missing out on if you kept it locked up is a video uploaded by Gumbal Oct. 12. The video was filmed in Belgium during the 66th Zoute Grand Prix, according to a WorldCarFans.com. It seems it was a display of the car's power and abilities, on a section of beach closed for the festivities. In the video, we see the six-wheeled luxury SUV powering through the sands of the beach. Unfortunately, it looks as though this section of the beach wasn't entirely closed off properly, allowing the high-power SUV to drive close to beachgoers who walked around the fence, close to the water. Luckily, nobody was injured, but we still must suggest that you don't try this at home, or your local beach. It's going to be hard to pull off this exact stunt, considering Mercedes-Benz recently stopped production of the 6x6. Of course, we do have a G63 AMG 6x6 listed on duPontREGISTRY.com for sale.Check out the video below to watch the 6x6 in action for yourself.G63s For Sale (Source: YouTube via WorldCarFans.com) Mercedes-Benz Videos, Pics and Videos
