The latest generation of the Nissan Z was a long-awaited revival of one of the automotive world’s favorite performance nameplates. With decades of legacy as an iconic sports car, the newest Z features several design touches inspired by the original Z, as well as by other past generations. However, one of its most important characteristics is its combination of six-cylinder power and rear-wheel drive.
With purist-focused design, the Nissan Z is part of a dying breed of sports cars, and in its pinnacle NISMO trim with 420 horsepower and 384 lb/ft of torque, it will be available with a manual transmission for the 2027 model year. A part of several revisions and changes made to the Z NISMO for the 2027 model year, the manual transmission was brought to the Z NISMO thanks to popular demand from fans, and with an upgraded clutch compared to the other Z models, the six-speed manual is catered to NISMO performance.

Along with it, however, are also front brake rotors derived from another Nissan performance car icon, the GT-R. With improved cooling channels, they reduce brake pad temperatures on the track, and save 19 pounds with their lightweight construction. The suspension has been tuned for the 2027 Nissan Z NISMO with reduced weight in mind, and a revised steering rack has also enhanced the cornering experience.
The 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that powers the new 2027 Nissan Z NISMO is specifically tuned for the manual transmission, with more aggressive throttle response and more sustained torque delivery. With a manual transmission available for the 2027 model year, the new 2027 Nissan Z NISMO is one of the final bastions of purist performance on the market.
