When car enthusiasts think of a firm responsible for taking Porsche’s performance to the next level, they think of RUF, and when they think of RUF, they think of the CTR pedigree. The name was given to 911s with unimaginable performance in their time, making the “Yellowbird” famous, and continuing to show the results of the 911’s incredible potential, but things evolved with the introduction of the CTR3.
Introduced in the 2000s, the CTR3 showed a different, mid-engined version of the car, with RUF making it its own car and giving it world-beating performance, including a top speed of 233 mph, which increased to 236 with the introduction of the CTR3 Clubsport, which was introduced in 2012. Now, a new chapter has opened, and that is of the new RUF CTR3 Evo, which features a changed design as well as revolutionized performance.
One of the first noticeable changes is the swap to two round taillights rather than the previous assemblies, as well as an evolution of the racing-inspired carbon fiber aerodynamic touches seen on the Clubsport model. However, the most tangible changes can be seen within the engine bay.
The new CTR3 Evo features a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine that produces an incredible 800 horsepower, representing a 34-horsepower increase over the already game-changing Clubsport model. That power figure makes it the most powerful Ruf yet.
In addition, its 730 lb/ft of torque gives it formidable track ability, as do carbon-ceramic brakes with 15-inch rotors and six-piston calipers. Unveiled at Monterey Car Week, the groundbreaking new RUF CTR3 Evo adds to the event’s prestige and anticipation. Known for its incredible performance cars in general, the new RUF CTR3 Evo is sure to take RUF’s existing reputation for high performance and exclusivity to the next level.
