Two Porsche 911 GT1s Race In The Austrian Alps

Porsche’s Le Mans legend takes to the Alps. Since opening F.A.T. Mankei this past spring, Ferdinand Porsche has given Porsche enthusiasts, and in fact car enthusiasts as a whole, a hub and home in Austria’s Grossglockner High Alpine Road, one of the world’s most historic, scenic, and engaging driving roads. An event featuring a wide range of Porsche’s legendary performance cars rung in the opening of the Coffee Shop, but it’s now showing the results of its dedication to car enthusiasts in an epic series of photos recently shared on Instagram by Porsche and the Porsche Museum. Captured by photographer Mark Riccioni, two Porsche 911 GT1 cars took to the winding stretch. The car was known for its Le Mans domination during the legendary late 1990s GT1 racing era. Both examples of the 90s racing beast soaked up the stunning vistas of the Austrian Alps, while showing off their driving prowess that continues to shine through decades. In a combination of 90s nostalgia, racing passion, and natural beauty, these new photos capture the wonder of the alpine roads and the Porsche 911 GT1 alike. It’s not often that two cars with the same pedigree as the Porsche 911 GT1 come together, let alone two of the same legendary GT1 racer, and in a location as idyllic as F.A.T. Mankei. With this beautiful racing reunion, Porsche shows fans worldwide what gives the historic manufacturer so much allure. Porsche Uses Its Manufacturing Expertise To Help Revoluti...

ABB Robotics and Porsche Consulting collaborate on a pilot project aimed at leveraging automation to make modular housing more affordable, sustainable, and efficient. ABB Robotics and Porsche Consulting are joining forces to ignite a transformation in the construction sector. Through a pioneering pilot project, the collaboration aims to drive innovation in modular housing manufacturing. The joint venture seeks to address pressing challenges such as the demand for affordable housing, labor shortages, and the environmental impact of traditional construction methods. Porsche Consulting executives noted that the project aims to combine ABB's cutting-edge robotic solutions with Porsche Consulting’s expertise in efficient factory operations. Marc Segura, President of the ABB Robotics Division, highlighted that smarter automation could be a game-changer for the construction industry, offering increased productivity, customization capabilities, and more sustainable construction procedures. Labor shortages are a significant hindrance to housing availability, contributing to a nearly four-million-home shortfall in the United States. Traditional construction struggles with sustainability and efficiency, especially with issues like material wastage, which can account for up to 25% of the materials transported to a construction site. Modular construction, backed by automation, offers a promising solution by reducing material waste and minimizing weather-related delays while providing a safer working environment. The collaboration between ABB Robotics and Porsche Consulting aims to redefine modular construction by incorporating advanced robotics and intelligent automation, setting new benchmarks in affordability, sustainability, and efficiency. The Story Behind Porsche's Q3 2023 North American Sales S...

Q3 2023 was Porsche Cars North America's second strongest quarter ever. Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) has released its Q3 2023 retail sales figures and they're nothing short of impressive. Clocking in 19,988 cars, the German automaker has reported a whopping 21% jump from the same period last year. Even more remarkable, the company experienced a 15% increase year-to-date (YTD), with 56,323 new vehicles being sold in the first nine months of 2023. The numbers don't lie; Porsche is having a moment in the U.S., and Joe Lawrence, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of PCNA, has every reason to be ecstatic. According to him, “Q3 continued our positive momentum and I’m grateful to every customer as well as our industry-leading network of independently owned and operated Porsche Centers in what continues to be a highly competitive market.” These gains follow closely on the heels of Rennsport Reunion 7, Porsche’s largest fan gathering, which amassed a staggering 91,000 enthusiasts in California. So what's driving this impressive sales growth? Look no further than the Macan. This luxury compact SUV was the brand’s top seller in Q3, posting a 31% increase YTD, and it's poised to grow further soon as an all-electric version of it is coming next year. Hot on its heels, the new Cayenne commenced deliveries in Q3 and contributed 6,005 vehicles, marking a modest but solid 2% increase YTD. Not to be outdone, Porsche's iconic sports cars, the 718 and 911, posted 45% and 17% increases respectively YTD. But the cherry on top? Taycan sales skyrocketed by 55% in the third quarter, adding another 2,050 units to the tally, while the Panamera gained an 8% increase over the same period. Another highlight from the report is the impressive rise in Porsche-approved Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) sales. With 28,579 units sold in the first nine months of 2023, this category leapt by 20.19% from the same period a year earlier. The numbers clearly demonstrate that even pre-owned Porsche models continue to be highly sought after in the U.S. market. The larger question is, what does this all mean for Porsche and the luxury car market in the U.S.? It would be safe to say that customer demand for high-performance, innovative luxury vehicles is strong. With an industry-leading network of Porsche Centers and a consistently impressive product line, Porsche has successfully capitalized on this insatiable appetite. The company is thriving in a challenging market, leveraging both its heritage and its ability to innovate. The continued growth in sales—both new and CPO—signals that Porsche is capturing the imagination and wallets of U.S. buyers, elevating the brand to new heights. If this quarter's results are any indication, Porsche is well-positioned to continue its upward trajectory, further solidifying its foothold in the U.S. luxury car market. View All Porsches For Sale

Porsche Credits 911 Popularity For Its Sales Increase

The 911's evergreen popularlity contributes to this year's success. Porsche has had a high-octane year, delivering 242,722 vehicles in the first nine months. That's a 10% year-over-year increase, and it's not just about quantity; Porsche emphasizes that its strategic focus on "exclusive, highly individualized products" has been a major win. According to Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, this focus combined with a "highly balanced global sales structure" has been a safeguard during times of economic uncertainty. Europe has been a hotspot for Porsche, accounting for 51,742 deliveries in this timeframe—a 23% bump from the previous year. Germany, Porsche’s home turf, had 24,814 happy Porsche owners during the period, marking a 19% increase. North America wasn't left behind; it experienced a 14% increase with 64,487 delivered vehicles. However, not all geographies are rallying in the same gear. China saw a decrease of 12% in deliveries, attributed mainly to the ongoing challenging economic landscape. When it comes to the lineup, the Porsche 911 remains a fan favorite, clocking in a significant 27% increase in deliveries. A grand total of 38,789 units of this iconic sports car reached customers. The new Cayenne, which made its global debut in April, also received a warm reception with 64,457 units delivered. Though this represented a 3% dip, Porsche attributes it to staggered market launches. Meanwhile, the Macan soared with a 15% increase, with 68,354 units hitting the road. The Panamera showed a 5% increase, and the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models weren’t far behind with an 18% uptick in deliveries. Electric mobility is also making its mark. The Taycan, Porsche’s electric offering, saw a remarkable 11% increase in deliveries, reaching 27,885 customers. Since its 2019 market launch, the Taycan has been a sales powerhouse, and Porsche anticipates the trend to continue despite supply chain hiccups and varied electric vehicle market development across regions. Looking forward, Detlev von Platen remains optimistic, stating that both global deliveries and demand for Porsche models remain strong. As we enter the final stretch of the year, Porsche is well-poised for what von Platen calls a "value-oriented growth" strategy. With these impressive numbers and a solid game plan, Porsche appears ready to lap the competition in the luxury and performance automotive sector. View All Porsches For Sale

Porsche Crowns 2023 Classic Restoration Challenge Winners

The challenge showcased exceptional craftsmanship in preservation, restoration, and individualization. If you're a Porsche aficionado or simply a fan of craftsmanship, the recent 2023 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge is one of the most highly anticipated automotive events. Hosted during the esteemed Rennsport Reunion 7 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the event marked its third year in grand style, coinciding with Porsche's 75th anniversary, and the Porsche 911's 60th anniversary. This year’s competition had a new twist, inviting Porsche Centers across the United States to compete in one of three categories for the first time: Preservation, Restoration, and Individualization. Entries were divided by sales regions—East, South-Central, and West—and judged at central events. The winners were displayed prominently at Rennsport Reunion, where they were also crowned. Jonathan Sieber, Senior Manager of Porsche Classic, celebrated the event as an "exhilarating platform" for showcasing not just exceptional Porsches but also the passion and craftsmanship of the participating Porsche Centers. The crowd got to weigh in as well, voting for a "People’s Choice" award, which was also bestowed during the event. Beverly Hills Porsche outdid themselves in the Individualization category, taking a 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 and giving it the royal treatment. Their process included an engine overhaul, enlarging the cylinders from 3.6 to 3.8 liters, installing new pistons, upgraded valves, and racing springs, among other enhancements. The result? A daily driver primed for Southern California's roads but with classic Porsche character intact. In the Restoration category, Napleton Westmont Porsche worked their magic on a 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 Type 964. What appeared initially as a simple interior overhaul soon revealed layers of complications, including poor previous bodywork. The team undertook a comprehensive restoration, from stripping the car to its bare metal to achieving the final polished look. The Preservation winner and the crowd's favorite, Gaudin Porsche of Las Vegas, tackled a 1996 911 Turbo Type 993 that hadn't run in eight years. The team meticulously revitalized the car, from stripping and rebuilding the brake calipers to reinstalling a Porsche Classic Radio and restoring the Speed Yellow paint to its original luster. A panel of experts from Porsche Club of America and Porsche Cars North America adjudicated the finals, underscoring the high standards the competition demands. The challenge targeted Porsche models ranging from the 1950s to the 2000s, offering a glimpse into the scope of restoration and customization possibilities for these timeless vehicles. With America being home to more classic Porsches than any other market globally, events like this only serve to fuel the fervor around these masterpieces on wheels. This year’s competition was especially significant, given Porsche's recent $50 million investment in expanding its Atlanta headquarters, including a new stand-alone Porsche Classic facility.
