Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge: The Area South-Central Winners

Porsche's dealer network has once again shown what its service departments are capable of. The Area South-Central winners of the 2026 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge represent three distinct approaches to keeping classic Porsches on the road, each carried out with the depth of expertise and factory support that define the program. About the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge Through the Challenge, Porsche Cars North America invites Porsche Centers across the U.S. to restore, preserve, or individualize heritage models using Porsche Classic Genuine Parts and their own craftsmanship. Each participating dealer selects a project car, documents the work throughout the year, and presents the finished vehicle at a regional judging event. That parts support is substantial. The Porsche Classic catalogue includes approximately 85,000 genuine parts, and the U.S. is home to the highest number of classic Porsche vehicles in operation anywhere in the world. Entries compete in three categories. Preservation maintains originality while improving functionality, Restoration returns vehicles to near-factory specification, and Individualization allows for bespoke builds influenced by Porsche's Sonderwunsch program. Now in its sixth year, the Challenge continues to grow. The 2025 edition set a record with 73 entries, and the national champions were crowned in Durham, North Carolina alongside Luftgekühlt 11. For 2026, the South-Central round took place at Artomobilia in Carmel, Indiana on August 28 and 29, with the National Championship to follow in October. Porsche Orlando's 1997 911 Carrera 2 Individualization (national finalist) and People's Choice winnerFollow along: https://www.instagram.com/porsche_orlando/ GALLERY-EMBED This build was inspired by Carey, a longtime Porsche Orlando client who, together with her husband Byron, has purchased numerous Paint to Sample and Sonderwunsch cars from the dealership. Shortly after taking delivery of a Pastel Yellow 993 Carrera 2, she challenged the team to create a car that reflected her own personality while remaining unmistakably Porsche. The car was taken down to a bare shell, fitted with genuine 993 RS bodywork and a factory-style steel sunroof delete, and refinished in its original Pastel Yellow on every surface. Under the rear deck, the original 3.6-liter flat-six became a high-compression 4.0-liter with individual throttle bodies and a GT3 plenum, paired with a short-ratio RSR-style gearbox and authentic 993 RS suspension. The interior is the centerpiece, a Sonderwunsch-inspired cabin with full leather retrimming, color-matched painted trim, and a bespoke ombré leather weave inspired by the GT3 S/C Street Style. The team also 3D scanned a factory 993 rear seat delete and re-engineered it in lightweight materials with top-loading storage that works with the RS bucket seats. Carey was involved at every stage, and her choices, including the color-matched new-old-stock Speedline wheels, became defining features of a car that used approximately 782 genuine Porsche components and earned both the Individualization win and the People's Choice award. Porsche Cary's 2001 Boxster Preservation (national finalist)Follow along: https://www.instagram.com/porsche.cary/ GALLERY-EMBED Porsche Cary's 986 Boxster was prepared with a focus on preservation and thoughtful modernization. Rather than replacing original components, the team prioritized sustainability and authenticity by meticulously cleaning and touching up existing interior pieces. The exterior received a comprehensive paint correction to restore its factory-level luster, and a full dry ice blasting treatment restored the undercarriage while retaining most of the original parts. The car's key systems were fully refreshed with a new convertible top and headliner, new windshield, struts, control arms, clutch and flywheel, along with refurbished wheels and brakes and OEM N-spec tires. To bridge classic and contemporary, the team installed the Porsche Classic PCCM+ system, adding smartphone integration and improved navigation while preserving the authentic interior of the 986. The finished car is a beautiful example of the model that retains the character of an early Boxster. Harper Porsche's 1978 911 Turbo Restoration (national finalist)Follow along: https://www.instagram.com/harperporsche/ GALLERY-EMBED Harper Porsche's 1978 911 Turbo is a rare early Sonderwunsch commission, ordered new in Paint to Sample Buick Medium Green Poly metallic with white leather seats, black and white pinstripe velour inserts, and green shag carpet. Guided by the car's Porsche Product Specifications certificate, the team stripped the car to a bare shell and had it resprayed inside and out in the correct color by Harper's Porsche-certified collision center, then restored the interior to its original specification. The engine was rebuilt from the bare crankcase up, the original turbocharger was rebuilt, and the Type 930 four-speed transaxle was rebuilt in-house. The chassis received period-correct green Bilstein suspension, a fully renewed brake system, and the original Fuchs wheels refinished and fitted with N-rated Pirelli P7 tires. Harper's Porsche Classic service advisor and historian researched production records and period sources to ensure every detail was correct for 1978, and the team even commissioned custom red woven air conditioning hoses to match the originals. Harper Porsche brings a strong Challenge history to the finals, having won the national People's Choice award in 2025 with its 1992 964 RS. Each of these three cars reflects the purpose of its category and the skill of the Porsche Center behind it. Porsche Orlando, Porsche Cary and Harper Porsche now advance to the National Championship in October, where they will meet the winners from Areas West and East.

This Porsche Cayenne Drove Nearly 26,000 Miles From Argentina to Alaska

Other than the 911 itself, few Porsche models have had as big an impact on the brand as the Cayenne. When it first debuted back in 2002, Porsche was stepping into the SUV world for the first time, and the Cayenne helped prove that a Porsche could be just as interesting away from a racetrack or winding road. More than 20 years later, two owners decided to see just how far one could go, taking a second-generation Cayenne Diesel from the southern tip of Argentina all the way to Alaska.Rainer Behrendt and Jan Bongers spent 100 days driving the Pan-American Highway, covering nearly 26,000 miles across 15 countries. Their Cayenne was upgraded with off-road tires, auxiliary lights, and a 26.4-gallon fuel tank, but the trip still threw plenty at it. In the Andes, the SUV climbed to nearly 16,400-feet, where the thin air caused problems for its diesel particulate filter and eventually put the Cayenne into limp mode. The pair spent around two weeks driving with the engine limited to 2,000 rpm before Porsche technicians in Lima got it sorted. That wasn't the only issue. Finding diesel in Bolivia proved difficult, and later in Ecuador, the pair had to track down AdBlue before the Cayenne's system would prevent the engine from starting. In between the mechanical headaches, they crossed the Salar de Uyuni, visited Machu Picchu, made their way through Central America, and eventually reached Mexico. The Cayenne also became a way for the two travelers to connect with Porsche Club members in several countries, with local owners helping them along the way.Once they reached the U.S., the trip became a little more familiar, but there were still plenty of miles to cover. They continued through California and into Canada before heading north toward the Arctic Circle. From there, the landscape changed again as the Cayenne made its way through Alaska and onto the Dalton Highway toward Deadhorse. After 100 days and nearly 26,000 miles, the Cayenne finally reached Deadhorse. The trip wasn't exactly trouble-free, but that is probably what makes the story worth telling. The SUV had to deal with high-altitude roads, rough terrain, long stretches between fuel stops, and a few mechanical problems, yet it still made the entire run from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska. The Ultimate Porsche Carrera GT Buyer's Guide

Twenty years ago, Porsche debuted the Carrera GT as its future-forward, limited-production supercar, offering cutting-edge technology like a carbon fiber monocoque and subframe. While the Carrera GT now stands out as a true collector's gem to today's standards, Porsche actually produced only 1,270 of the 1,500 cars they originally planned for between 2003 and 2006. We've all heard the stories of brand-new examples sitting on Porsche showroom floors without a waiting list and an impressive $450,000 MSRP, which now seems to be a steal as they sell well into the millions. The Porsche Carrera GT is a true icon, instantly recognized by its sleek, low-slung shape and track-focused design. Its wide stance and large side air intakes are a nod to the car’s racing DNA and help cool the engine. The rear features an eye-catching raised spoiler and a pair of big exhaust tips that give it a serious sound over competitors, while the lightweight carbon fiber construction keeps things sharp and agile. Every angle of the Carrera GT tells a story of precision and performance.Inside, the Carrera GT balances simplicity with luxury in a way that feels uniquely Porsche. The lightweight bucket seats offer plenty of support without overdoing it, and the tall center console places the controls right where you need them. The wooden shift knob is an unexpected but cool throwback to Porsche’s racing roots, adding a bit of character to the otherwise modern interior. It’s not flashy, but everything about the layout feels driver-focused, with just enough refinement to remind you you’re in something special.Under the hood, the Carrera GT packs a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V10 that sounds as incredible as it performs. With 605 horsepower sent through a six-speed manual transmission, it’s all about raw, unfiltered driving. This setup lets you hit 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and pushes on to a top speed of 205 mph. Add in a unique suspension system designed for precision handling, and the Carrera GT feels as close to a race car as you can get while still being street-legal.  2004 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2004 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2004 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2005 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing 2004 Porsche Carrera GT View Price & Listing

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Is Quickly Becoming a Million-Dollar Collector Car

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has always represented the upper echelon of the brand’s motorsport-inspired GT road cars, but in recent years, the 991-generation GT2 RS has grown to become one of the most collectible Porsche 911 models in the modern market. Porsche purists know the GT2 badge carries a special weight, being the car that combines the raw thrill of turbocharged power with rear-wheel-drive purity, often making it the most extreme variant in any generation of 911. For those browsing today’s inventory of Porsche 911 GT2 RS for sale, this car represents both a brutally fast driver’s car and a rare investment opportunity in a rising modern classic. 997 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Tracing the GT2 lineage reveals why the 991 RS holds such a special place in Porsche’s history. First introduced in the mid-1990s with the 993 GT2, Porsche built the car as a homologation special for GT racing. It was a stripped-down, rear-wheel-drive 911 Turbo with aggressive aerodynamics and insane performance, and its exclusivity only fueled its appeal. Later generations, including the 996 GT2 and the 997 GT2 RS, pushed this perspective further, each representing a more hardcore take on what a 911 could be. By the time Porsche engineers applied the formula to the 991 platform, they had perfected a balance between usability, performance, and luxury, creating what many argue is the most complete GT2 RS to date. 991 Porsche 911 GT2 RS From the outside, the 991 GT2 RS leaves no question about its track-focused intent. Lightweight carbon fiber panels, functional aero components, a massive rear wing, and magnesium wheels all play a role in its race-inspired design. Inside, the cabin blends Porsche’s race-bred materials with surprising comfort, with Alcantara, carbon fiber, and deep carbon bucket seats, but with infotainment and air conditioning intact. Buyers exploring collectible Porsche 911s will also find value in desirable options like the Weissach Package, which shaved additional weight and introduced exposed carbon details. Today’s Porsche 911 GT2 RS listings on duPont REGISTRY showcase a wide range of rare colors, which only adds to both desirability and long-term value. 991 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Where the GT2 RS truly cements its reputation is under the rear decklid. The 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six delivers an impressive 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful 911 ever produced at the time of its launch. Paired with a PDK dual-clutch transmission, the GT2 RS sprints from 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and carries on to a top speed of 211 mph. Beyond the numbers, though, it’s the raw turbo thrust, razor-sharp handling, and rear-wheel-drive drama that keep collectors and drivers captivated. 991 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Porsche capped production of the 991 GT2 RS at around 1,000 units worldwide, assuring exclusivity while still allowing a select group of owners to experience it. Auction results and private sales show that values remain strong and, in many cases, are appreciating, especially for low-mileage and highly optioned examples. Looking ahead, the 991 GT2 RS seems destined to remain one of the most desirable and collectible Porsche 911s of all time. Electrified: The Best Porsche Taycan EVs For Sale Today

Porsche’s move into the modern EV market started with the Taycan, a car that showed the brand wasn’t willing to leave performance behind as the industry shifted toward electric power. Development took more than five years, and when the Taycan arrived, it brought Porsche’s familiar mix of performance, design, and luxury into an entirely new type of powertrain. The connection to Porsche’s history is interesting, too. More than 120 years earlier, Ferdinand Porsche was already experimenting with electric propulsion through the Lohner-Porsche. Today, the Taycan carries that early idea into a very different era, adding even more sub-variants for a more versatile take on the same electric platform. The Taycan lineup has grown considerably since its introduction, with multiple versions offering different levels of performance, range and equipment. That gives buyers plenty of ways to spec the car, whether the priority is daily driving, long-distance range or outright acceleration. The interior follows the same approach, combining Porsche’s driver-focused layout with the technology expected from a modern electric car. For anyone shopping for a Porsche Taycan for sale, the used and new markets now offer a wide range of model years and configurations to consider. Browse the Porsche Taycan models featured in this special below to take a closer look at how Porsche’s first modern electric sports sedan has evolved. Is The Porsche Taycan Fully Electric? Yes, the Porsche Taycan is fully electric. It was Porsche's first all-electric vehicle when it debuted, marking a significant milestone for the brand in embracing electric mobility. The Taycan offers various configurations, but all are powered solely by electric batteries, with no internal combustion engine. What Is The 0 to 60mph On A Porsche Taycan? The Porsche Taycan offers serious acceleration across its lineup, with performance varying by model. The Taycan 4S can reach 60 mph in around 3.8 seconds, while the Taycan Turbo S does it in just 2.6 seconds. With instant electric torque and all-wheel drive, the Taycan delivers the kind of straight-line performance that has become a major part of its appeal. How Long Will A Porsche Taycan Last? How long a Porsche Taycan lasts depends on factors like mileage, driving habits, and maintenance. Porsche backs the Taycan’s high-voltage battery with an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty, while its electric powertrain has fewer moving parts than a traditional gas-powered car. With regular maintenance and proper care, a Taycan can be a long-term daily driver. 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT View Price & Listing 2024 Porsche Taycan View Price & Listing 2021 Porsche Taycan 4 View Price & Listing 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT View Price & Listing 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S View Price & Listing 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo View Price & Listing 2022 Porsche Taycan View Price & Listing 2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S View Price & Listing 2020 Porsche Taycan Turbo S View Price & Listing 2025 Porsche Taycan 4S View Price & Listing

New Porsche 550 J By Hedley Studios Unveiled

Hedley Studios is known for creating beautiful vehicles that recreate historical icons, slightly shrink them in size, and imbue them with all-electric powertrains. Meanwhile, their creations are made with artisan craftsmanship, a wide range of personalization options, impeccable accuracy to the originals, and limited quantities that make them truly collector-worthy. The latest creation is the new Porsche 550 J, a celebration of the 75th anniversary of Porsche motorsport that recreates the Porsche 550 Spyder. The 550 J is roughly 80 percent the size of the original 550 Spyder, which is one of the most influential and foundational race cars in Porsche’s history. In 1954 at the Carrera Panamericana, Hans Herrmann and Jaroslav Juhan competed in two 550 Spyders, earning third and fourth place overall, separated by only 36 seconds across almost 2,000 miles and five days of racing. That achievement was what spurred Porsche to use the “Carrera” moniker for cars afterward, which it still does today. The Hedley Studios Porsche 550 J is limited to only 250 examples and is an officially licensed reimagination of the original car. It was created with the help of Porsche’s corporate archives and guidance from Porsche personnel throughout the project. Powered by a 48-volt electric drivetrain, the 550 J boasts 8 kW as standard and 16 kW with the available RS package. The top speed of the car is just under 50 mph, and it’s aimed at collectors and enthusiasts, lacking road-legal status. <- Gallery -> For the collectors who will own the new Porsche 550 J from Hedley Studios, the 250 examples enjoy virtually limitless configuration and design possibilities, including curations of historical and contemporary colors and liveries inspired by motorsport legends. Each example is handcrafted in Bicester, England, by Hedley Studios, and faithfully reimagines the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder, reviving its cherished legacy and undeniable influence. New Colors Revealed For 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric

Over 20 years after the Cayenne was first introduced, revolutionizing Porsche as a manufacturer when it did, Porsche revolutionized the Cayenne itself, introducing an all-electric version of it with unprecedented levels of power, cutting-edge technology, and engineering that takes full advantage of the BEV format to evolve the Cayenne nameplate as a luxury performance SUV. Now, the Porsche Cayenne Electric is receiving new improvements for the 2027 model year, including new colors and new luxury features. Elevating the luxury of the 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric, the option of electrically operated doors has become available. With this feature, pulling the door handle automatically opens or closes all four doors. For the driver, putting on the seat belt or pressing the brake pedal can close the door automatically as well. The system is designed to operate on inclines, and sensors are in place to stop the movement of the doors if an obstacle or person is detected, including if a vehicle is approaching. Manual operation of the doors is possible at all times. An optional massaging seat is also available for the 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric, and it can be combined with music to create an immersive listening experience. Along with the musical experience, five massage programs are available for comfort and relaxation. <- Gallery -> As personalization becomes increasingly important to drivers, the 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric joins Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur’s Paint to Sample program, giving customers the opportunity to choose from over 100 total paint colors within Porsche’s impressive Paint to Sample library. Meanwhile, the interior is enhanced for the 2027 model year with available leather accents and stitching in Delgada Green and several other new personalization options. Pricing remains the same for the new 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric as in 2026, and deliveries for the new model are set to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The Best Porsche 911 Dakars You Can Buy Right Now

Porsche has a long history of taking the 911 into places it probably was never supposed to go. From the Paris-Dakar Rally to the legendary Rothmans 959 race car of the 1980s, those cars helped inspire the 911 Dakar. Built on the 992-generation 911, the Dakar quickly became one of Porsche's most sought-after modern models, with all 2,500 examples selling out. As demand continues to grow, so does interest in finding one for sale. These examples come from Porsche’s Stuttgart factory and are available in some of the brand’s most desirable finishes, including cars equipped with the exclusive Roughroads design package. The package pays tribute to the Rothmans 959 that helped inspire the Dakar in the first place. The factory lift kit gives the 911 a more aggressive stance while making room for two-tone five-spoke wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. And for owners who want to take things even further, Porsche offers a range of additional accessories to personalize the car. Inside, the 911 Dakar still feels like a Porsche, but there are plenty of details that remind you this car was built for more than just paved roads. Alcantara and leather cover the cabin, while the digital displays and familiar Porsche controls keep everything feeling modern and driver-focused. There are also plenty of subtle touches that tie the interior back to Porsche’s racing history. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 473 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with Porsche’s quick-shifting dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system designed to handle much more than a typical 911 ever would. The Dakar can reach 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 149 mph, impressive numbers for a car that’s equally at home on dirt and pavement. With only 2,500 examples built, the 911 Dakar was always going to be a special 911. Now that production has ended and allocations are sold out, finding the right one has become even more important. The World’s Only Porsche 918 Coupé Makes a Rare Appearance at Salon Privé

A Sonderwunsch Porsche 918 rolled onto the lawn at the ongoing 2026 Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace in England, ending more than a decade of obscurity. Ordered new by Ferdinand Piëch, former chairman of the Volkswagen Group and the man responsible for the Bugatti Veyron, the one-off is making an exceptionally rare formal public appearance. Salon Privé describes it as the world’s only 2015 Porsche 918 Coupé and says it is believed to have been seen in public just once before. The stunning example seen here features Paint to Sample Oxford Blue with Arancio orange across the wheels, front intakes, lower body accents, and engine bay, mirroring Piëch’s Veyron Super Sport. Inside, the blue-and-orange theme continues with Tangerine and Imperial Blue leather, while the headrests retain their “918 Spyder” embroidery despite the car’s fixed-roof configuration. The theme appears to have continued within the family collection. Subsequently, a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport associated with the Piëch family was similarly specified in Royal Blue Carbon with Tangerine orange, suggesting the combination became something of a family signature.  The roof is where this 918 stops being a normal Spyder (the badge on the back still reads 918 Spyder). Where every other example features two removable carbon-fiber roof panels stored in the front luggage compartment, Piëch’s car replaces them with a single fixed panel. Salon Privé consequently describes it as the world’s only 918 Coupé. Porsche also replaced the Acid Green normally used to highlight the E-Hybrid hardware with orange, while finishing the brake calipers in Oxford Blue instead. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Salon Privé (@salonpriveuk)   Such bespoke commissions run through Sonderwunsch, Porsche's special-wishes program, which has since produced everything from reimagined Flachbau bodies to hand-applied Chromaflair paintwork and a growing catalogue of factory one-offs. In 2013, though, asking Porsche to fundamentally alter the roof configuration of its new hybrid hypercar was an extraordinary request from almost anyone. Piëch, of course, was instrumental in shaping the modern performance car landscape. He worked on the 917 program in the 1970s, drove the quattro program at Audi in the '80s, then took control of the Volkswagen Group and brought marques like Bugatti, Bentley and Lamborghini into its portfolio in the '90s. Back in 1997, on a train between Tokyo and Nagoya, Piëch famously sketched an 18-cylinder engine on the back of an envelope. The idea would eventually evolve into the Quad-turbocharged W16 that powered the Veyron, a car engineered to produce 1,000 horsepower and exceed 250 mph. Bugatti built the F.K.P. Hommage in his memory this January. That appetite for engineering excellence helps explain the specification of this 918. Our Market Spotlight on the 918 tracks where conventional examples sit, but Piëch’s car exists beyond those usual comparisons. A 204-mile Weissach example reached $3,465,000 on duPont REGISTRY Live in July, yet there is no direct precedent for a factory fixed-roof car with this provenance. Still retained by the Piëch family, it remains one of the few 918s the market has never had the chance to define. View All Porsche 918s for Sale  Images: @salonpriveuk
