Unveiled: Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Manthey Kit

While Porsche may have developed the 718 Cayman GT4 RS as the most track-oriented variant of its mid-engined sports car, it could still be pushed further. Germany's Manthey-Racing certainly thinks so, unveiling their latest kit for the RS, boasting significant on-track performance gains via a more aggressive aero package, and a new coilover suspension. While its 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated flat-six remains unmodified, producing 493 horsepower, a Manthey-equipped RS chopped a full six seconds off the standard car's time around the Nordschleife. Like the Manthey kit available for the larger GT3, its goal is to increase downforce while upgrading any components that will need to handle the extra loads. The biggest update is the introduction of a larger carbon fiber rear wing, which can now be adjusted in four different positions versus the standard car's three settings. To compensate for the added forces, Manthey reinforces the RS' engine cover. Aside from other subtle aero improvements, the kit includes Manthey's well-known carbon-fiber aerodiscs for the rear wheels, while updated front fender louvers and a larger gurney flap for its rear ducktail spoiler are available as extras. At 124 mph, a Manthey-equipped car nearly doubles the downforce generated by a standard 718 Cayman GT4 RS, from 196 pounds to 372 lb. Given the extra aerodynamic loads, the kit features a new coilover suspension with adjustable rebound and compression settings, which don't require special tooling. Available for both cars equipped with or without a front-axle lift system, the coilers feature 20 percent firmer spring rates upfront. Braided steel brake lines come standard and improve pedal feel. The Manthey-Racing kit for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS goes on sale later this summer. The starting price is $53,946. Optional extras, such as the aforementioned louvers and updated ducktail spoiler, cost an additional $5,890. However, neither of these figures includes installation costs. The kit is available through authorized Porsche centers that will also install it. For those eager to sample the kit before purchasing, Porsche is offering drive programs at both U.S. Experience Centers.

The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Is Formula E's New Official S...

Porsche’s peak electric performance takes to the track. Formula E has become an exciting stage for innovation in the world of electric mobility, helping shift the perception of electric cars by showcasing them as bonafide racing machines, and Porsche is not only taking part in the movement by participating in the Formula E series, but also with its burgeoning electric performance car lineup, which most recently includes the new Taycan Turbo GT, the most hot-blooded version of the Taycan yet. Combining immense electric power and torque with Porsche’s motorsport-derived engineering and innovation, the new Taycan Turbo GT has already set incredible lap times at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and Laguna Seca, setting the electric production car lap time record at the latter. However, it’s back on the racetrack, and this time, it’s with a noble purpose: serving as an official safety car for the Formula E series. Debuting as the official safety car at Formula E’s Berlin doubleheader on May 11 and 12, different variants of the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT will be present. One will be finished in Purple Sky Metallic and equipped with the Weissach Package, which eliminates the rear seats, while the other will be finished in Shale Green Metallic, without the Weissach Package and with rear seats. Compared to the standard Taycan Turbo GT, modifications like lights, decals, and communication equipment have been installed for the cars to perform their safety car duty. With new safety cars, the Formula E series will be showing off even more high-tech, intense electrified performance on the track than before. View All Porsche Taycans For Sale Image Source: Porsche

Porsche Debuts New Standalone Air|Water Event Alongside L...

Modern classics join vintage icons at this event. Luftgekühlt is one of the most anticipated and well-known events in the incredibly vast Porsche fandom, and it serves an important purpose: celebrating the excellence of Porsche’s long history of air-cooled engines, the cherished favorite of many Porsche purists. However, with over a quarter-century of water-cooled Porsche models in the books, the manufacturer also saw a need for the more modern water-cooled vehicles to be celebrated as well, and created Air|Water, which started in 2023 as an understudy held on the second day of Luftgekühlt at Mare Island in California. However, this year, Air|Water has its own fully-fledged event, near Luftgekühlt 8’s venue, coming to the Orange County Fair & Event Centre in Costa Mesa, California. This time around, a total of 1,000 cars were displayed, including fan submissions and legendary Porsche creations. Icons of Porsche’s history and the manufacturer’s engineers were present among the huge crowd of fans who came to celebrate the entirety of Porsche’s 76-year history. As a companion to Luftgekühlt, the event celebrated iconic moments in Porsche’s history, old and new, like the transaxle model, and the coveted supercars like the Carrera GT and Porsche 918 Spyder. With the incredible success of the Air|Water event alongside the legendary Luftgekühlt, Porsche now plans to make Air|Water its own annual event, warming fans up for Luftgekühlt events across the globe, which are going next to Wrocław, Poland in June and Copenhagen, Denmark in September. As special as air-cooled Porsches are, the more modern water-cooled history of Porsche deserves love too, and Air|Water’s success proves it. View All Porsches For Sale Image Source: Porsche

Brand-New 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Crashes Into A River In ...

The life of this 922 Porsche 911 GT3 RS was short lived after plunging into the water. Since its debut as Porsche's most track-focused supercar, the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS has made waves in the industry as the hottest car release of the year. And while the past few months have littered social media with jaw-dropping specs being delivered to both dealerships and new owners, it also comes with the unfortunate circumstances of some examples being totaled due to collisions and or accidents. One 911 GT3 RS is making headlines in automotive news after being involved in a freak incident, which left the $300k Porsche submerged underwater in Snoqualmie, Washington. From other reports, the driver seems to have escaped from the accident without any serious injuries.  From what looks to be a sharp bend that runs along a river, predictions can only assume that the GT Silver Metallic GT3 RS overshot the corner before finding itself in a saturated situation. Images of the wreck, uploaded by @icsnapper on Reddit, document the 911 GT3 RS being extracted from the watery depths with its temporary new car tag still intact. If you thought this would be the perfect re-build for an automotive YouTuber, you may change your mind after seeing a destroyed C-pillar that deems it a total loss. While we can't predict the future of this now-totaled 992 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, you can definitely expect buyers' eyes to be on it when it hits the tow yard. Porsche Carrera GT Being Auctioned at Mecum’s Indy 2024 E...

This year’s Mecum Auction (May 10-18) in Indianapolis includes a 2004 Porsche Carrera GT in the sports and luxury cars session at the Indiana Convention Center called Indy 2024. For the car enthusiast and collector, Porsche’s extraordinarily engineered racecar represents the pinnacle of automotive design. This Carrera GT stands out as a particularly special example of a very special car. Of the 1,270 produced between 2003 and 2006, this is one of only 41 completed in Basalt Black for the North American market – one of the single most desirable color combinations for those in the know. With fewer than 8,000 miles since new, it’s also a remarkable testament to the care and attention that it has received throughout its life. Under the bonnet is a 5.7-liter V-10 engine, putting out 605 horsepower, with the Euro-correct font. And it has a six-speed manual gearbox, augmented with a Porsche ceramic composite clutch. All in all, it comes together to create a raw – yet highly refined – driving experience where the feeling between you and the road is about as good as it gets these days. Its Basalt Black exterior shines, and removable carbon fiber roof panels can be stowed to create an open-air experience, intensifying the exhilaration of driving. The interior awash in dark grey leather opens in the heels of occupants to a world of precision and performance interpretation of Porsche’s legendary race heritage: the Porsche 917-style birch/ash wood shift lever knob and XT bucket seats are also rendered in materials and details faithful to the days of the race-proven and proven-ace 917. As an inlay for the cup holders, the tube-formed galvanized magnesium center console lends a taste of racing sophistication to the otherwise performance-only gestures of the interior. Functional meets stylistic form in the Carrera GT’s reinforced cockpit safety like one would find in racing cars. Exposure of the carbon fiber and aluminum in the monocoque and subframe makes for a safe ride and also lightens the car, boosting its responsive feel on the road. Inside, the GT comes equipped with modern comforts such as Porsche Online Pro AM/FM/CD stereo, air conditioning, and xenon headlamps; it has nothing to prove in the age of the Prius. The focus on aerodynamics is as evident as the 8,000 individual rivets: there’s an underfloor ground effect and a rear diffuser optimized for high-speed airflow, which combined with the electronically activated rear wing and pushrod-actuated inboard suspension make a car fly around a track almost as well as it can be driven on a road. This car was and still is a sports car icon. It comes with a complete file and dealer binder from a German car dealer, German language specification page, MOT test certificates, insurance documents, owner’s manual, and service history. The documents validate its authenticity and also make it more collectible. While the nitty gritty of this Porsche Carrera GT auction at Mecum’s Indy 2024 locks in at No Reserve, its appeal to collectors and Porsche enthusiasts goes beyond just owning one of the rarest cars ever produced. The public’s desire to own this Porsche is, in fact, more about being part of history. As with any well-considered dealership, you can opt to purchase a beautifully engineered and crafted automotive masterpiece to have for a while without a thorough-going sense of investment. On the other hand, maybe this Carrera GT is for buyers who see investment as more than just a sale – the thought of driving a Porsche beauty that will likely remain in top condition for decades brings good dreams. Don’t miss making the pinnacle of Porsche’s hands-on high-tech team part of your life as well. View Listing For More Info
