2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S Driven By Astronaut Charlie Duke

Instant torque is fun for drifting, especially in a low gravity environment. To offer off-world insights into the abilities of electric cars, the new 2021 Porsche Taycan was driven by Astronaut Charlie Duke. As the Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 16, General Duke was also among only six men to experience the Lunar Rover. For the 50th anniversary of the 4-wheeled wonder, Porsche decided to hand over their latest electric masterpiece to this American Hero. Compared to the new Porsche Taycan Turbo S for sale, the "Lunar Roving Vehicle" was built by GM with four 1/4 horsepower motors, one at each wheel. Under black skies, one horsepower is plenty to move a buggy that only weighs 77 lbs. Send the 616-horsepower Porsche to the moon and it beats the buggy by 30%. Needless to say, the Taycan would be capable of taller rooster tails with a range of nearly 200 miles. Click the link below to experience this immense power for yourself, and here's to all Astronauts for braving such hostile situations. Top Gear Sets New EV Drifting Record

Keeping your tires spinning is a difficult task in any situation. At first glance, electric cars would seem to be at a disadvantage, but Top Gear has set a new EV drifting record. Chris Harris didn't need the complications of All Wheel Drive, so Porsche supplied a new Taycan Turbo S without the front axles. The real treat is how efficient electric motors are once the wheels are spinning. Unlike gas, electricity adapts to load. Using incredible torque to light them up, the Taycan throttles back to just enough power to keep them moving. By only drawing a few amps on the battery, electric drifting is the future of spectator motorsports. The Taycan has even more tricks up it's sleeve, so click the button to find yours. Porsche Sees Successful Year So Far Despite Pandemic

Even though the world has been fighting an ongoing pandemic, Porsche has been able to post some solid numbers throughout the first three quarters of 2020. In total, Porsche generated an operating result of 2.0 billion euros (~$2.3 billion USD). Porsche also notes they had a revenue of 19.4 billion euros (~$22.5 billion USD_ which was a 10.4 percent return on sales. While the operating result was down by 28 percent when you compare it to last year's numbers, Porsche is satisfied considering the situation the entire world is facing every day.  “Our young, attractive product portfolio appeals to customers. I’m optimistic about the coming months,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board at Porsche AG. “The new 911 and our electric sports car, the Taycan, impressively demonstrate our innovative strength, and their sales figures have exceeded our expectations.”  For these first three quarters, Porsche delivered a total of 191,547 cars to customers around the globe, a five percent decrease compared to 2019. Interestingly enough, the Chinese market has been a source of success for Porsche as they have delivered a total of62,823 cars to China. Getting down to models, 25,400 units of the 911 were delivered and 11,000 units of the Taycan. See All Porsches For Sale

Porsche Taycan Will Now Have Apple Podcasts and Apple Mus...

Last year, the Porsche Taycan was graced with the integration of Apple music thanks to a collaborative effort between Porsche and Apple. Now, that partnership has been taken a step further as the brands have announced yet another integration for the Taycan. On the touchscreen of the electric Taycan, the user can access Apple Podcasts thanks to full integration of the service. This means all of the 1.5+ million podcasts can be accessed on a whim with minimal effort. In addition to this integration, Apple Music will now support Time-Synced Lyrics on the passenger-side display. Why on the passenger-side display? Because the driver isn't supposed to be reading while driving, duh. Instead, the driver will get to listen to their passenger's singing. “The Taycan embodies the pioneering spirit of Porsche – as the first all-electric car from Zuffenhausen. It sets benchmarks within the context of digitalization and sustainability – and this also applies to the interior,” says Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “The new Apple Music and Apple Podcast offerings expand the emotional driving experience with the Taycan with a seamlessly integrated digital feature for music lovers. There is more to come." See All Porsche Taycans For Sale

Porsche Taycan Turbo Attacks The Alps

One of the world's most formidable mountain ranges separates Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. The Alps are the ancestral home of the Porsche family, so they have always built cars capable of conquering high altitudes. Dr. Porsche's daily driver was one of his designs, the VW Beetle. Because of the thin air south of Salzburg, he fitted a big supercharger and more capable carburetors. Such is the history with Porsche, embracing turbos to add power at any altitude. Porsche Taycan Turbo Price, Specs, & Horsepower Now with the Taycan, "Turbo" is just a model, but it doesn't disappoint above the clouds. Simona de Silvestro is a Formula E racer and in the latest upload for 9:11 magazine, we see the Porsche Taycan Turbo attack the Alps. She is heading to Switzerland to show Porsche fans what 670 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque are capable of. If you haven't experienced the Taycan yet, click the button for the ride of a lifetime. Porsche Taycan Price, Specs, Photos & Review

Porsche Taycan Price Porsche has a new entry in the electric vehicle market, the chic and sustainable Porsche Taycan for sale. The new Porsche Taycan price of $114,340 still has plenty of people clamoring for a piece of this quick, fun, ecologically-responsible action. The Porsche Taycan for sale comes in several available trim options. Base prices for the Porsche Taycan MSRP start with the entry-level Taycan 4S from $103,800. The Taycan 4S is a safe pick for many buyers since it offers most of the essential features and similar driving dynamics found in the upper trim levels. Upgraded powertrains, additional horsepower, and larger 93kWh battery packs are available in the Taycan Turbo from $150,900 and the Taycan Turbo S from $185,500. The two premium trims also add full leather or leather-free suede interior upholstery and a few other bells and whistles. Choose from interior options like heated, massaging, or ventilated seats, premium upholstery, or sound. To add even more power, consider adding carbon-ceramic brakes and fancy wheels or the whole Performance to customize your new Taycan. Standard features already include a panoramic sunroof, along with plenty of safety features like adaptive LED headlights, parking sensors, and a collision warning system. Porsche Taycan Review What does Taycan mean? It means a lively young horse, a fitting choice for Porsche’s first practical foray into the fully electric vehicle market. The Porsche Taycan review is overwhelmingly positive and effectively stakes Porsche's claim as a force to contend with in this fledgling arena. The Porsche Taycan is a sleek, four-door sedan powered by a massive rechargeable battery. The battery is built into the underbody and is a load-bearing part of the chassis, giving the car a smooth, pleasurable driving feel. It’s capable of traveling around 300 miles on a single charge. Simply plug it into its custom charger in your garage at night or stop by an IONITY charging station to recharge it. You won’t need to step foot onto a gas station with a used Porsche Taycan. Porsche Taycan: Electric Driving 101 It has a thoughtfully-constructed rear transmission that makes it faster than a Model S and optimizes the battery range. Most importantly, the 79kW battery-powered Taycan handles very well and drives flawlessly. Porsche enhanced the engine with a perfectly tuned, manufactured engine noise. With all of those features, including an intelligent interior, working together, you’ll never forget that you’re driving a superior Porsche specimen. It’s everything you expect from a Porsche, just fully electric. Porsche Taycan Specs Porsche Taycan specs are pretty impressive. They put the newcomer squarely in competition with other electric vehicles that have been on the road for years. As a true Porsche worthy of the name, the Taycan is fast. Porsche Taycan top speed is 162 mph, and it’s a smooth, comfortable ride to boot. Thanks to a cleverly designed two-speed transmission on the rear axle and a fixed ratio on the front, the Porsche Taycan goes from 0-60 in 2.4 seconds and completes a quarter-mile in 10.4 seconds at 130 mph. The Taycan comes with two motors (one powering each axle, rear, and front). Upgrading to the premium powertrain found in the Turbo and Turbo S boosts the battery pack for additional range. It increases the horsepower from 482 hp output (in the optional 93 kWh upgrade in the Porsche Taycan 4S) up to 750 horsepower in overboost mode. Taycan weighs a hefty 4,777-5,121 pounds depending on the configuration, in conjunction with the massive battery. This affords the vehicle a low center of gravity and increased stability, resulting in a notably smooth ride. Most of the vehicle is constructed of aluminum to save weight throughout the frame, and portions of the car are reinforced with high-strength steel for added safety. Porsche Taycan Specs: Price: $150,900 Engine: Two Synchronus Electric Motors Transmission: 2-speed Automatic Horsepower: 750 hp Torque: 774 lb-ft 0-60 mph: 2.4 seconds 1/4-Mile: 10.4 Seconds @ 130 mph Top Speed: 162 mph Weight: 5,121 lbs Porsche Taycan Battery The Porsche Taycan engine runs on a 79kW water-cooled, lithium-ion battery built into the floorplan of the vehicle. The 800-volt base battery pack has 396 total cells, and Porsche Taycan horsepower is rated between 482 to 750 hp, depending on the trim-level selected. Using a permanent synchronous design, DC power at a nominal 800 volts is transformed into a rotating field. The Taycan Turbo S is wound for 600 amps, while the lesser versions are rated at 300 amps. The car is designed to be recharged by a charger developed for the Taycan. To recharge fully from empty, you’ll need to plug it into the standard home 9.6-kW charger for 11 hours. However, an available 270 kW fast charger will take the battery from as low as a 5% charge up to an 80% charge within just 15 minutes. The home charging system can also be pre-programmed to reduce charging times in hot or cold temperatures. The charger is capable of managing a house's power flow. It is designed to cost optimize charging, prevent brownouts, and reduce the charge to the car for added safety. Porsche drivers can tap into the Electrify America (Porsche’s charging partner) charging network for free for the first three years of ownership to quickly recharge at any charging port. With a little planning, this makes the Taycan viable for road trips as the battery’s range is limited to about 300 miles per charge, depending on the driving conditions. Although the battery can be force-fed by quick DC charging, longer charges at lower current will allow the car to perform well for year. Porsche Taycan Transmission So, does the Taycan have gears? The short answer is yes. Porsche had to re-write the rules when it came to the Taycan’s transmission by innovating a solution for the heavy, electric Taycan, thanks to its massive battery. This weight distribution affords the car a low center of gravity and increased stability. Consequently, the Taycan is unique from other EVs because of its one-speed gear reduction in the front, and a two-speed transmission with a limited-slip differential in the rear. Most EV’s only have a single one-speed transmission. Porsche developed the transmission exclusively for the Taycan to ensure high efficiency and maintain power reserves even at higher speeds. Essentially, the high and low gears shift seamlessly after take-off to accommodate the immense power from the motors to make the vehicle as efficient as possible. The first speed stays in place until the Taycan reaches 62mph, multiplying wheel torque to get the car moving. Then the transmission automatically shifts to the more economical second gear. This allows the rear electric motor to spin at a slower speed, increasing range and extending the battery life. This transmission design makes the Porsche Taycan a hair faster than its main competitor, the Model S. Porsche Taycan Brakes Stopping a new Porsche Taycan for sale is unlike any other automotive experience. The driver can select how much energy the electric motors will regenerate once the accelerator is free. At the highest level, the car will immediately slow once your foot is off the pedal. Not only will this save battery range, it incurs no wear on the brake pads. In a full stop, the car uses maximum regen-mode along with electric-assisted hydraulics to prevent an impact. In normal city driving, your brake pads and rotors could last for years. Heating them up once in awhile should be done to keep moisture out of the system. Optional on the Taycan Turbo, the standard equipment on the Taycan Turbo S consists of 16.5" rotors squeezed by 10-piston calipers. Even the rears are 16.1", making the rotors much larger than Porsche wheels of only a few years ago. Standard wheels measure 20"x 9" front and 20" x 11" rear in order to preserve optimal grip and steering balance. The Turbo S steps up 1" in diameter for less sidewall deflection. Porsche Taycan Soul Journey Day 4: Endurance Porsche Taycan Interior The luxurious Taycan interior is entirely digital and full of accessible technology. Up to four crisp digital displays, including a massive 16.8” curved, customizable driver’s touchscreen display, 10.9” infotainment screen, a smaller third and optional fourth passenger-side touchscreen make this a car of the future. The interface is pretty user-friendly and will likely improve with future updates. The quiet interior is relatively close quarters for some given the underfoot battery compartment. The stylish and comfortable, a well-designed interior is outfitted with standard faux-leather and can be upgraded to RaceTex or real leather. A stunning panoramic sunroof is standard in the Taycan. Opting for the SportChrono package adds the eponymous timepiece amidships of the dash. While it is a cue to Porsche's past, some will prefer the clean look and unobstructed view that comes without it. Porsche Taycan Standout Features The Porsche Taycan's electric motors are the most power-dense in the EV world. Each hairpin has a consistent air-gap to protect the inverters, and a water-cooling jacket to mitigate heat. The warmth provided can be channeled to the cabin via the heater core, and to modulate battery temperatures in colder climates. Once the rear-mounted transmission is in high gear, the pulses can be dialed back to reduce heat and increase efficiency in all areas. This allows the rear motor to be at an ideal RPM, while the front can act as a brake generator only. Since the front wheels in any car do 90% of the braking, the Porsche Taycan will handle better than a conventional sedan given the same opportunities. Browse Porsche Taycan For Sale " width="680">
