Top Five Porsche Racing Technologies Used in Production Cars

Many auto manufacturers, like Porsche, put their latest developed technology into their race cars. This gives them a chance to truly fine tune and get the tech ready for mass production. It's like how a lot of the technology, like the ball point pen, came from space research. In Porsche's latest "Top 5" video, they look at the technologies that were transferred from the racetrack to the street. In the video, Walter Röhrl, a Rallye World Champion, shows us the five technologies. From the 911 GT1 to the 919 Hybrid, there are plenty of little things found in Porsche cars that we take for granted. Take the turbochargers found in Porsche cars, which the German company first used in the 917/10. Now, we have a litany of models in the company's lineup that feature turbochargers, like the GT3 RS.Click play on the video below to see the entire list and get ready for the Top 5 Porsche Milestones next week.Porsche For Sale

New Pagani Huayra BC Delivered and We're Green with Envy

The Pagani Huayra BC is not just any normal Huayra. It comes in as the most technologically advanced one yet, welcoming a fine selection of new features that will be used in future Pagani vehicles.Powering the car is a twin-turbo V12 engine that has been exclusively developed for Pagani by Mercedes-AMG. It creates over 750 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a seven-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). Pagani states that the weight of the gearbox, including a brand new electronic active differential, is just about 40% lighter when compared to the dual-clutch of the current generation Huayra.Shmee150's friend @gregb.23 recently ordered one of these Pagani Huayra BC supercars. He joined along for the debut of the car at Pagani's factory and even had the chance to drive the car himself. This example has a green carbon fiber exterior with orange trim, a color combination I can't recall seeing on a Pagani.Check out the video below to see the car for yourself and listen to some sweet, sweet engine noises.Supercars For Sale

Ford GT Spins Out and Crashes Shooting for 200 mph

Update 3/1/2017 - Well, guys, it looks like the video has been taken down. If another one comes online, I'll be sure to switch it out. 2004-2006 Ford GT Prices, Specs & ReviewWhen you're looking to go up to 200 mph, there is always a chance that something catastrophic will happen. Most cars aren't meant to go anywhere near that speeds, while some are created with that rate of speed in mind. Originally, the Ford GT was released in 2005 with a top speed of around 205 mph. With this high top speed, it's safe to say Ford wasn't expecting too many owners to really hit that rate of speed. That being said, there are always a few that will reach for the stars.Related - Ford GT's Power Finally Revealed, Becomes Fastest Production Ford EverAt the recent Shifts3ctor California Airstrip Attack, a Ford GT driver was looking to reach 200 mph. This specific GT is referred to as "Black Mamba" and is actually a 1,500 bhp twin-turbo monster. Unfortunately, during one of his runs, he lost control and spun off of the track. During his spin out, the car smashed into a few objects, leaving the car damaged. Thankfully, the driver was uninjured. You can check out the spinout in the video below. Five Things Porsche 911, Boxster and Cayman Owners Should...

When buying a new car, especially a sports car like the Porsche 911, it's nice to learn the ins and outs of the car from someone who already owns one. Nick Murray decided he would do a favor for all 911, Boxster and Cayman owners by creating a video telling owners of these cars what they should know. His first tip is in regards to the parking brake and how to properly set it. Next up is what to do if your battery dies and you need to pop the hood. The problem is that the hood pops electronically and without a battery, what are you to do? He explains how to do it. His last points are what to do with the rear seats, how to stop wear on the bolsters and lastly, he teaches us all about the "cold weather front wheel bump."If you're interested in picking up a Porsche or are just a fan, this was actually a very interesting watch. Top 5 Wildest Porsche Rear Wings

If your flagship product is rear wheel drive with a rear mounted engine, you need some serious downforce to keep the rubber on the road. Porsche's massive wind tunnel in Weissach is used to refine the latest models. But for a neat comparison, they brought out a few classics to show how effective a rear spoiler can be. Of course, it wouldn't be a Porsche video without ample technical data so each of the top 5 is shown with its drag coefficient. As the foremost authority on Porsche aerodynamics, Norbert Singer touches on the finer points of each car. First up was a Cayman GT4, whose fixed rear wing measures in a 0.32.Next up was a rare 959 which integrates the wing into the rear bodywork. It returned a slippery 0.31 on the drag meter. A blast from the past was the 2.7 RS with a score of 0.40. That might seem uncompetitive in modern terms, but such a wing was needed to offset the rear weight bias. A new Panamera Turbo shows off it's graceful rear wing that rises like a robot from the trunk lid. Last up was the legendary Moby Dick 935. Being as far removed from a production 911 as possible, it still manages a 0.36 in a quest for top speed. Porsche 911 Turbo S Races an Army Helicopter

It happens all the time, you pull up to a spotlight and some jerk in a helicopter next to you starts revving his engine and challenges you to a race. It's like these helicopter pilots just cruise around looking for races... It's just annoying.Related - Five of the Rarest Porsche Factory Models, EverAuto Moto ran into this race on a drag strip, with the car of choice being a Porsche 911 Turbo S (991). In this car's engine is 560 horsepower, while the Tiger helicopter it was racing was packing 4,450 horsepower. So, who won the race from a dead stop? Click play below to find out for yourself, you won't regret it. Now, what's next? Is This the World's Fastest Lamborghini Huracan?

There are a few set cars that tuners work with specifically for the drag strip. When it comes to Lamborghinis, the Huracan is the supercar of choice. Gosha Turbo Tech in Abu Dhabi has a Huracan of their own that they've been modifying for faster-than-heck drag strip runs and it was just unleashed on the Yas Marina Drag Strip.Related - The True Difference the Lamborghini Huracan's Launch Control MakesThe specifics of what's in this car's engine are unknown, but a pair of turbochargers do peek out from the rear of the car. Altogether, the car has 1,026 hp on tap, which was enough power for a 1/4 mile run of 8.65 seconds @ 161 mph. You can check out this run in the video below (the video is quite long, so if you just want to see this specific run, skip to the end).Lamborghini Huracan For Sale

Two Hypercars Surprise Crowd at Local Drag Strip

If you head over to your local drag strip, odds are you'll see a lot of cars that come nowhere close to the pedigree of a LaFerrari or Porsche 918 Spyder. However, the San Antonio Raceway did see those two hypercars show up for an amateur race that rocked the crowd.Related - Jay Kay's LaFerrari in Mysterious Pure Electric ModeRedditor u/4thAndLong was at the San Antonio Raceway when the race between the two cars took place. He said in a post on r/cars that he was at the event running his 2500 Ram when the cars showed up. He notes that while the video he filmed, found below, wasn't the greatest quality, the Porsche did end up running 10.40 @ 140 mph and that the LaFerrari went a little slower but higher trap. He obviously gave 918 Spyder's edge to its AD setup, giving it the holeshot.Check out multiple videos below to see the runs for yourself and imagine if this happened at your local raceway! Aston Martin AM-RB 001 Walkaround and First-Look

In the near future, I can't think of any car that looks more futuristic than the Aston Martin AM-RB 001. This is surprising because Aston Martin has been known for keeping it relatively calm when it comes to design, Vulcan aside. The AM-RB 001's entire design is so incredibly outlandish that I thought there was no way Aston Martin would produce this car. Contrary to my belief, the English automaker has said that the concept they've presented is essentially what the production car will look like. By far the most interesting and crazy design scheme about this car has to be the massive air channels behind the front wheels, which almost disconnect the front steering apparatus from the rest of the car if it weren't for the front hood.Related - Aston Martin One-77 For Sale Aston Martin brought the AM-RB 001 to the Toronto Auto Show for all to see. While I'm currently stuck in sunny Florida and couldn't make it to Canada, a few YouTube channels showed up to record some footage of the car.
