2015 Chrysler 300S Review

The 2015 Chrysler 300S is proof that the American automotive manufacturer is progressing at a lovely rate. When it was first introduced, consumers ate the Chrysler 300 up due to its luxurious styling at an affordable price. Today, this fact holds true, even more so with the power-hungry 300S that packs a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine.

The exterior of the 300S still resembles the original, but only through its overall shape. Since its birth, the 300S has evolved into a modern sedan that will catch attention wherever it goes. The most prominent change comes to the front end, where the optional Adaptive Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps rest; our press car was fitted with this Light Group option that included these for $895. Separating these headlamps is a large black winglet grille that demands your eyes.

Inside our 300S was an interior featuring supple blue leather on the seats and steering wheel and a rather convenient center console. Additionally, the 300S Premium Group Package ($3,295) was added to the 300S, which included a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, multiple features for the media center and more. Another option that spruced up the cabin was the Luxury Group ($2,295). This option added a trunk mat, door sill scuff pads, power rear sunshade, heated second-row seats, driver and passenger lower LED lamps, front and rear LED map pockets, a heated steering wheel and a power tilt/telescopic steering column. Out of those features, we found the rear sunshade to be most important in the Florida heat, but northerners would love the heated second-row seats.

Under the hood of the 300S is the previously mentioned 5.7-liter V8 HEMI engine. This is the most powerful engine offered in the 2015 300 range, as the 300 SRT’s last known model year was in 2014. That being said, the V8 HEMI engine in the 300S offered plenty of power at 363 hp and 393 lb-ft of torque. Those looking into purchasing a 300S should know that the V8 is a $3,000 option and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine comes standard. But, take one taste of the V8 engine combined with the eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, and you’ll be sold.

The 300 model range has come a long way since its inception and the 2015 300S is a testament to this. Altogether, the base price of our car was $34,895; after options, the total price raised to $48,570. Yes, that’s over $10,000 in options, but each option included features that made daily driving much more enjoyable, like the rain-sensitive windshield wipers – a necessity in the Florida summer – as well as the entire SafetyTec 2 package and, of course, the V8 engine.

I can say I definitely enjoyed my time with the 300S. For anyone looking for a 4-door sedan with attitude, this car should definitely be in your pool.
