These American performance heroes prove that the muscle car is not a thing of the past.

When you think of a muscle car, your mind might travel back in time to the era commonly seen as the American muscle car’s golden age, with big engines, big performance, and brash, unabashed design. Even today’s muscle cars pay homage to the glory of the greatest muscle cars of the past, but with the modern engineering and performance that manufacturers can muster today, muscle car performance is just as if not even more incredible than it was in the past, and the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and Dodge Demon for sale are absolute proof. These two cars boast world-class performance and showcase the United States as a force to be reckoned with when it comes to automotive excellence, but which is better? Keep reading to find out.

Dodge Demon vs Ford Mustang GT500 Specs

Both of these cars pay homage to American performance heritage and incorporate incredible engineering for impressive performance. With features seen in this Demon vs GT500 comparison like carbon fiber wheels, special drag race-ready tires, and ruthless weight reduction efforts, few cars are like these two when it comes to pulling all the stops, and their monstrous supercharged engines are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to how incredible they are.

Ford Mustang GT500 Specs

Named and inspired after Carroll Shelby’s Mustang exploits, the GT500 name carries lots of weight, and represents some of the most excellent Mustang performance you can get your hands on. In turn, it is able to compete performance-wise with cars from all over the world that are far out of its league in price and brand cachet.

Dodge Demon Specs

This ultimate drag-racing machine is a ruthless powerhouse. If you thought the Dodge Challenger Hellcat was crazy, the Dodge Demon is simply insane. This car goes to lengths that are just about unthinkable in the name of performance, and because of that, even the most insatiable needs for speed are satisfied by this monstrous machine.

Dodge Demon vs Ford Mustang GT500 Engine – Winner: Dodge Demon

Both of these cars boast impressive supercharged V8 engines, delivering exhilarating performance on the road. The GT500 draws its power from the renowned GT350 Mustang’s engine, while the Dodge features an engine inspired by the legendary Hellcat V8. However, there are distinct differences that set them apart.

One notable dissimilarity lies in the engine size. The Demon’s engine takes the GT500’s 5.2-liter V8 and expands it by a whole liter, resulting in a formidable 6.2-liter displacement. This larger engine capacity provides the Demon with an advantage in terms of sheer size and potential power output.

Moreover, the Demon employs a substantial 2.7-liter supercharger, enabling it to maximize the engine’s performance capabilities. With this combination, the Demon unleashes a jaw-dropping 840 horsepower, truly establishing its dominance in this category. Even the Mustang’s remarkable 760 horsepower, which is by no means lacking, falls short in comparison.

Dodge Demon vs Ford Mustang GT500 Interior – Winner: Ford Mustang GT500

The Mustang’s interior is a comfortable place to spend time, with plenty of room for both driver and passenger. The seats are supportive and well-cushioned, and the materials used throughout the cabin are high-quality. The Mustang also comes standard with a number of features that are optional on the Demon, such as a touchscreen infotainment system, a premium sound system, and a heated steering wheel.

The Demon’s interior, on the other hand, is spartan at best. The only seat that comes standard is the driver’s seat, and even that is a basic bucket seat. There is no passenger seat, and the only other amenities in the cabin are a small storage bin and a cupholder. The Demon’s interior is clearly designed for performance, not comfort.

If you’re looking for a comfortable and luxurious car that can still put down some serious power, the Mustang is the better choice. But if you’re looking for a car that is all about performance, the Demon is the one for you. Just be prepared to sacrifice some comfort and amenities.

Dodge Demon vs Ford Mustang GT500 Performance – Winner: Ford Mustang GT500

The Dodge Demon is truly an exceptional car, pushing the boundaries of performance to astonishing levels. In fact, its extraordinary capabilities have led to it being banned by the NHRA for lacking a roll cage, further cementing its reputation as a force to be reckoned with. The Demon achieved a remarkable feat by securing the title of the world’s fastest 0-60 time for a gasoline-powered production car, completing the sprint in an astounding 2.3 seconds. Not only that, but it holds the distinction of being the only production car capable of performing a wheelie, a testament to its raw power and exceptional engineering. In terms of quarter-mile performance, the Demon blazes through in a mere 9.65 seconds at an impressive speed of 140 mph, leaving competitors in awe.

However, true performance isn’t solely determined by straight-line speed. World-class racetracks demand a well-rounded approach, challenging both car and driver with a combination of straightaways, corners, and elevation changes. In such a scenario, our confidence would lean towards the GT500. With its carbon fiber wheels and intelligent engineering, the GT500 showcases a perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and the raw power synonymous with American muscle cars. The GT500’s ability to conquer racetracks stems from its carefully crafted design, allowing it to navigate corners with precision, maintain stability, and deliver an exhilarating driving experience. While the Demon excels in straight-line acceleration, the GT500’s comprehensive performance package positions it as a formidable contender on the racetrack.

Dodge Demon vs Ford Mustang GT500 Investment – Dodge Demon

When it comes to having a collector’s piece and something that will accrue value in the future in your garage, we think that you can count on the Dodge Demon to do that better than the Ford Mustang GT500. That’s because the Demon was only made for the 2018 year, and only 3,300 examples of the incredible machine exist. With its rarity and broken records to its name, we’ll give this category to the Demon.
