While the Chevy Silverado is available with either a 5.3 or 6.2-liter V8 under its hood. Sometimes stock power just isn’t enough. Specialty Vehicle Engineering, established in 1987, focuses on taking stock GM vehicles to the next level with their supercharging kits, matched to updated suspension systems to create vehicles that offer high performance with OEM levels of reliability.
The truck we took for a spin recently is the Supercharged Yenko/SC Silverado Off-Road, currently available with either 700 hp from a 5.3-liter V8 or 800 hp from the larger 6.2-liter powerplant. The performance upgrade is available for the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra because they ride on the same platform and share major powertrain components.
The list of upgrades is lengthy, including a forged steel crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, and upgraded cylinder heads, to name a few. Not to mention SVE’s own in-house supercharger, which drives most of the power gains.
Once you pick whether you’re building a Chevy or a GMC, the next choice is the style of the truck, as SVE offers off-roading-focused and stree-focused variants. As this truck’s four-inch lifts showcases, it’s the lifted of the two. Upgrades to this particular truck come from BDS in the form of their four-in lift, which pairs up with FOX Racing shocks and a heavy-duty rear sway bar.
When selecting the BDS lift kit, SVE includes Nitto off-road tires in a larger diameter and 12-spoke 20 by 10-in wheels finished in either silver, black, or body color. Out back, the Yenko/SC Silverado features an optional sports bar that can be had with four LED lights mounted on top.
Thanks to its close relationship with GM, SVE’s creations can only be bought through authorized dealers. Each of its vehicles comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. For more information about the Supercharged Yenko/SC Silverado Off-Road and the rest of SVE’s lineup, click the link below.
