At LEGOLAND Florida, Ferrari is painting the town red.
For car enthusiasts of any age, LEGO offers one of the most unique and fascinating ways of expressing that passion. Ferrari is one of the many manufacturers that have joined in on the fun, and with 3 life-size LEGO Ferrari replicas: an F40 at LEGOLAND California, a Monza SP1 at LEGOLAND Billund in Denmark, and a Daytona SP3 at LEGOLAND Windsor in the UK, Ferrari has added some of its most iconic vehicles to LEGO’s automotive replica portfolio. However, a new life-size LEGO Ferrari replica is joining, created to celebrate Ferrari’s new collaborative attraction at LEGOLAND Florida in Winter Haven. The car is the Ferrari 296 GTS, perfect for reflecting the pleasant climates that Florida is known for having.
At 15 feet long, 7.5 feet wide, and 4 feet tall, the life-size recreation of the Ferrari 296 weighs in at roughly 2 tons, complete with working headlights, and opening door, and a replica of the car’s signature “Piccolo V12” twin turbo V6 engine. The car took 1,850 hours to build, with a team that consisted of a designer, six Master Model Builders, and three animators.
The LEGO Ferrari Build & Race attraction it heralds allows visitors to design and build their own LEGO race car, test its performance on unique tracks, and digitally customize the car to enter it in a race. No matter what age, car enthusiasts can connect to the fun, creativity, and limitless potential of LEGOs, and Ferrari’s new life-size LEGO 296 GTS replica at LEGOLAND Florida is the latest example of that.
