When electrons and turbos are unleashed on the race track, it makes for big trouble on a little asphalt.
In a YouTube video uploaded July 12 by 9tro, we can see two hybrid hypercars, the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, drag race down the front stretch of Chengdu International Circuit. For a quick refresher, McLaren’s P1 has a 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 along with a hybrid electric motor/generator, which work together to make 903 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque.

LaFerrari arrives with a revised version of Ferrari’s traditional 6.3-liter V12 along with two hybrid motors for a total of 963 hp, along with the same 664 lb-ft of torque. Both manufacturers claim their cars are capable of higher torque numbers, but they are at the limits of what the clutch can safely hold.
The results speak for themselves, so watch the video to find out who wins. Stay tuned to Autofluence for more wild head to head racing, and as always, keep racing at the track, where it belongs.
