Few collector cars stir up excitement like the Ferrari 250 GTO, and when it comes to chassis 3765 LM, things reach an entirely different level. The Ferrari 330 LM/250 GTO by Scaglietti, a factory-built racer originally equipped with a 4.0L V12, is the only example of its kind. Originally built for endurance racing, chassis 3765 LM participated in a successful 1962 season, racing with Ferrari’s Scuderia team and earning a second-place finish at Nürburgring before storming into the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Mike Parkes and Lorenzo Bandini. Its transformation into a 250 GTO came in 1963 when private owner Pietro Ferraro sent it back to the factory for a complete overhaul. With a 3.0L engine and a 5-speed gearbox installed, the car became a true hybrid of two Ferrari greats. It continued to compete throughout Europe against marque legends like Jaguar and Aston Martin, building its credentials in classic Ferrari racing.
What sets this Ferrari apart even more is its incredible journey post-racing. After its time on the track, the car entered long-term private ownership, staying with one collector for 38 years. Rather than restore it beyond recognition, the owner chose to preserve its originality and authenticity. As a result, this 330 LM/250 GTO stands as one of the most unaltered and historically accurate examples out there. It made select appearances at prestigious events like the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Cavallino Classic, and Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it continued to earn respect from Ferrari fans and historians.
Now, thanks to Bacchelli & Villa, one of the world’s premier restoration shops specializing in Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati, this ultra-rare 250 GTO is set to receive Classiche certifications, and once again wow the crowd at one of the most significant Ferrari shows in the world. The collaboration with Ferrari Beverly Hills for this revival adds an extra layer of authenticity. With its motorsport past, rare one-off status, and detailed preservation, chassis 3765 LM is set to be the star of the 2025 Cavallino Classic and remains a dream Ferrari for collectors worldwide.
