This collection of bikes brought out the highest bidders.
When enthusiasts think of collector-gade vehicles that carry incredible prices at auction, exotic cars typically come to mind. However, as Mecum Auctions recently proved, their two-wheeled cousins can prove to be just as coveted and desirable when crossing the block. At Mecum’s 34th Annual Vintage & Antique Motorcycle Auction in Las Vegas, the prices that bikes sold for made the sale the highest-grossing motorcycle auction ever held.
That isn’t the only record that was broken at the $27.2 million sale, however, with the auction also facilitating the most valuable motorcycle ever sold at a public auction and the first motorcycle to sell at a public auction for over $1 million. Other motorcycles broke records with their six-figure sales, as well, with over 35 motorcycles going for six-figure prices.
The star of the show, however, is the record-breaking 1915 Cyclone V-Twin, which sold for $1.32 million after spirited bidding and breaking several records while it did. It was followed by other highlights like the 1938 Crocker Twin that sold for $880,000. That price made it the most valuable Crocker ever sold at a public auction, and one of the top five most valuable motorcycles ever sold at a public auction.
Motorcycles from several different decades were sold at the auction, but examples from the first half of the 20th century and earlier took most of the top 10 spots, besides the fifth-highest valued lot, a 1974 Ducati 750SS that sold for $198,000. Showcasing very early motorcycle history was the tenth-highest valued lot, an 1898 De Dion-Bouton Tricycle that achieved a price of $165,000. Showcasing history and highly coveted motorcycles, the 2025 Mecum Vintage & Antique Motorcycle Auction in Las Vegas was a truly captivating sale.
