Koenigsegg adds another record to its trophy cabinet.
With its groundbreaking engineering ability and highly exclusive automotive masterpieces, Koenigsegg is one of the most respected names in the high-performance world. For over twenty years, the Swedish manufacturer has constantly set out to do the impossible with supercars, and the Jesko Attack is one of the latest track-focused iterations of that incredible ability.
With its 5.1-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, the Jesko Attack produces an incredible maximum of 1,600 horsepower. Combined with Koenigsegg’s “Light Speed Transmission” and ruthlessly radical lightweight construction, you have an absolute beast of a track-ready megacar.
Recently, while the automotive world was gathered in California’s iconic Monterey Bay for Monterey Car Week, Koenigsegg achieved a fantastic feat nearby at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the racetrack known for its challenging corkscrew corner and layout that test drivers and cars alike. At 2.2 miles, the track is known for its tricky twists and dramatic elevation changes.
This kind of challenge is just the test the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack was made for. Koenigsegg proved its new megacar’s mettle by setting a new record lap time at Laguna Seca for homologated production cars. The incredible 1:24.86 lap time, recorded with Racelogic, was achieved with Koenigsegg Development Test Driver Markus Lundh, who had never been at Laguna Seca before the record-breaking run. The Jesko Attack also broke the lap record on its first time at Laguna Seca. Koenigsegg has published the impressive hot lap on YouTube, and you can watch it now.
