From Gallardo to Urus Performante.
For two decades, Lamborghini has been an essential partner of the Italian State Police, supplying Italian supercars for emergency response and public safety. The relatonship began in 2004 with the delivery of the Gallardo 510-4, the first car that set new standards for police operations. Powered by Lamborghini’s iconic V10 and advanced traffic monitoring systems, the Gallardo covered more than 87,000 miles while on patrol and medical missions. Some of the custom options for daily duties features a refrigerated compartment for organ transport, aiding lifesaving operations across central and southern Italy. The Gallardo also made its mark at global events like Columbus Day in New York, representing Italian ingenuity and service.
Lamborghini then delivered a Gallardo LP 560-4 to the police fleet in 2008, adding some extra power with an upgraded 5.2L V10 that delivered 552 horsepower and a top speed of 201 mph. The LP 560-4 became the successor to the Italian tradition, supporting emergency operations and showcasing its capabilities at prestigious events like the Targa Florio rally. Its advanced design included a defibrillator and a refrigerated boot for organ transport, making it a vital asset in lifesaving missions along Italy’s demanding Salerno-Reggio Calabria motorway.
The partnership reached new heights with the delivery of the Huracán LP 610-4 in 2014 and the Urus Performante in 2023. The Huracán’s ultra-lightweight carbon fiber design and 610 horsepower powertrain improved emergency responses, including a 2023 mission transporting a kidney for a lifesaving operation. Meanwhile, the Urus Performante, with more than 656 horsepower and advanced safety tools, symbolizes the collaboration’s future. Custom-designed with a Polizia di Stato livery and equipped for any type of mission, the Urus represents Lamborghini’s commitment to social responsibility, cementing a legacy of service.
