The Lamborghini Revuelto, a revolutionary V12 plug-in hybrid supercar, is turning heads not just for its unparalleled performance, but also for the radical shift it signifies in production processes. Marking an evolutionary leap for Automobili Lamborghini, the production of the Revuelto is overseen by the innovative system, Manifattura Lamborghini Next Level, transforming the way luxury vehicles are manufactured.
Launched just months ago, the Revuelto’s demand has already filled up two years of production, underscoring the monumental success of this high-performance electrified vehicle (HPEV). But it is not just the vehicle that is redefining innovation, it’s the advanced manufacturing processes that have come to the fore, all under the banner of the Manifattura Lamborghini Next Level system.
This high-tech manufacturing approach, referred to as “Manifattura 4.0”, harnesses human craftsmanship and cutting-edge automation in a harmonious blend. As Ranieri Niccoli, Chief Manufacturing Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, noted, this system ensures that humans remain at the core of production while simultaneously integrating complex, technology-driven processes.
Key to Manifattura 4.0’s innovation are the MES (Manufacturing Executive System), Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), and “cobots” – collaborative robots. While the MES supports operators at each step of production, cobots carry out repetitive tasks with impeccable precision. The AGVs, in collaboration with the workforce, transport materials for car assembly. This blend of technology and craftsmanship aims to enhance production speed and minimize errors.
One of the defining aspects of the Revuelto is its extensive use of carbon fiber, meticulously crafted at Lamborghini’s CFK plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The employment of carbon fiber more extensively than ever before has resulted in a game-changing combination of light weight and high power. All this points towards the company’s strategic investment in upgrading its facilities, amounting to $166 million, and the creation of jobs for 500 dedicated production operators.
The Revuelto isn’t merely a high-performance vehicle; it symbolizes the future of automotive production – one that blends human skill and advanced technology seamlessly. With its 1,001-horsepower powertrain, ground-breaking aerodynamics, and innovative carbon fiber chassis, the Revuelto is a beacon of the company’s ambitious Direzione Cor Tauri project.
With this milestone, Lamborghini sets the pace for the entire super sports car market. The Revuelto marks Lamborghini’s venture into hybridization of its entire model range by 2024 and the launch of its first fully electric model by 2028. As the Revuelto accelerates off the production line, it is evident that it is much more than a car – it is a symbol of Lamborghini’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and an exciting, electrified future.
