Maserati’s track-only supercar takes on Monza.
While Maserati is known for its gorgeous Italian luxury cars with spirited driving character, the introduction of its MC20 supercar opened a new chapter for the historic manufacturer. Opening the door to a new echelon of performance, the MC20 served as the successor to the legendary and ultra-exclusive MC12 with its racing-derived, mid-engined design, and it also introduced Maserati’s new flagship performance-oriented engine, the Nettuno V6.
Since then, the MC20 has helped formulate a new chapter for Maserati, and the open-top MC20 Cielo variant, as well as the GT2 race car, and GT2 Stradale roadgoing-yet-track-ready supercar have used it as their basis. However, Maserati also created an ultra-exclusive track-only supercar for customers, the MCXtrema, and with a small club of only 62 owners of the incredible racing machine, the delivery of one bespoke US-based customer took place at one of the world’s most iconic, respected, and prestigious circuits: Monza.
The bespoke configuration of the track-only supercar began with Maserati’s Centro Stile proposing the ‘Tech Beast’ concept, which then evolved into a two-tone livery in both gloss and matte, with large tridents and the number 44 emblazoned throughout. Through the incredible MCXlusiva customization program available for the exclusive circle of Maserati MCXtrema clients, the car featured an incomparable bespoke configuration with truly one-of-a-kind details, combined with racing-focused engineering that made the legendary Monza track the perfect venue for its anticipated delivery.
