This Maserati reached record-breaking speed with nobody behind the wheel.
Maserati is known for its lineup of Italian luxury cars that combine sumptuous appointments with gorgeous design and spirited performance to create an enviable driving experience. Maserati’s modern halo car: the Maserati MC20 supercar, is one of the greatest examples from the Trident manufacturer as an incredibly fun car to drive, but it has recently served as an example of automotive innovation with no driver behind the wheel.
The Indy Autonomous Challenge sees engineers push the boundaries of autonomous driving technology, and it has returned to the legendary location of the Kennedy Space Center’s Launch and Landing Facility in Florida. As part of the 1000 Miglia Experience Florida, the Indy Autonomous Challenge was the venue where Maserati raised the bar with a record-breaking speed achieved with autonomous driving.
Thanks to AI Driving software developed by the PoliMOVE-MSU team of the Artificial Intelligence Driving Autonomous of Politecnico di Milano, the Maserati MC20 broke its own record from November of 2024 by reaching 197.7 mph at the Launch and Landing Facility runway. With groundbreaking technology and incredible engineering contributing to the feat, the MC20’s record-breaking autonomous speed matches the pace of autonomous driving innovation.
