McLaren has taken the automotive world by storm with its groundbreaking Spectrum Theme, a new multi-tone paint finish offered exclusively for the new 750S. Engineered by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the manufacturer’s in-house bespoke personalization service, the Spectrum Theme elevates the 750S’ status as the lightest and most potent series-production supercar.
Unlike any of MSO’s previous work, Spectrum Theme employs new-generation techniques. It offers a visual experience of speed and acceleration through tonal shifts, even when the 750S is stationary. According to Michael McDonagh, Director at MSO, the Spectrum Theme showcases McLaren’s ability to merge design with technology.
Presented in three initial variants: Spectrum Blue, Spectrum Grey, and Spectrum Orange, the Spectrum Theme can be personalized with a wide range of MSO bespoke features. These include vibrantly colored leather trim, a bespoke dedication plaque, and carbon fiber door sills featuring hand-painted Spectrum-graded effect MSO logos.
One of the key challenges was considering the intricate aerodynamic sculpting of the dihedral doors while placing the Spectrum lines. A “Velocity” fade at the rear acknowledges the popular Velocity Theme offered by MSO. The customization options extend to unique colorways, with no fixed formula, demanding bespoke mixes for the desired outcome. With Spectrum, McLaren continues to push the boundaries of supercar personalization, offering an exclusive, next-gen design for the 750S.
