McLaren taps into Divergent for the W1’s engineering excellence.
The new McLaren W1 is the legendary manufacturer’s premier hypercar, succeeding the incredible, historic P1 with its advanced twin-turbo V8 hybrid powertrain. However, McLaren’s racing-bred heritage means that the W1’s splendor is about much more than just power. As with all of McLaren’s hypercars, the W1 features an incredible blend of lightweight construction, incredible agility, cutting-edge engineering, and immense power.
An important component of the W1’s incredible performance ability is the hypercar’s advanced suspension, and in order to make it as excellent as possible, McLaren collaborated with California-based Divergent Technologies, founded and led by Kevin Czinger, who is also CEO of hypercar manufacturer Czinger Vehicles.
McLaren tapped into the engineering and technology expertise of Divergent to create the advanced suspension hardware seen in the new W1 hypercar. Its manufacturing technology allows the McLaren W1 to sport a complex, sophisticated suspension system that also boasts impressive durability and stiffness, including the front upper wishbone, aero form lower wishbone and front upright.
Showing off the engineering masterpiece, the front wishbones, 3D printed by Divergent, are externally visible when looking at the McLaren W1. With its incredible engineering throughout, including amazing suspension technology thanks to Divergent Technologies, the McLaren W1 is a new chapter in the brand’s bleeding-edge hypercar excellence.
